[Videolib] PPR for God Grew Tired of Us

2012-04-06 Thread Ball, James (jmb4aw)
Hi All,

Does anyone know who has PPR for God Grew Tired of Us? It's distributed by
Sony but I didn't see it on the Swank website.

Cheers,

Matt

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.

Sony or Sony Classics? Sony Classics does their own direct rental/licensing.

um I checked it was not a Sony theatrical release I assume they have the
home video but for PPR rights you need to start with theatrical distributor
and the bad news it was Newmarket which is gone but also National
Geographic which still exists. Unless someone here knows if it picked up
separate non theatrical distribution I would start with
National Geographic Films

I think we crossed on this. Sony appears to own the home video rights and
they be able to get you some info on who owns the PPR rights I would not
hold my breath. Remember PPR rights are equivalent to non theatrical or
theatrical rights not home video. Since Newmarket is gone I would try to
contact National Geographic Films.

OOPS it gets more fun. National Geographic Films folded in December. Their
films were supposedly being handled by a company called Hyde Park
Entertainment but their web site is pretty bare.

Welcome to fun world of who owns those rights. The game is simple a film
is under copyright but you have to figure out who the current owner(s) is
for specific rights.
