I hope you got a reward for your heroic efforts! :)
I also hope you've mentioned that this time she should
keep at least two other backup copies? :)

System 7.5.5 is being a RAM hog - how do I change its mem. prefs?

2002-06-22 Thread b e n w e l l s | headwerkx

The SE/30's new hard disk had 7.5.5 already installed, which was rather
convenient, except that it wants to take 27Mb of RAM (out of 32Mb) all the
time. Seeing as 7.6.1 is using 9Mb on my IIfx and 9.1 is only using 24Mb I'm
figuring something is set wrong... but where do change it's memory usage?

Cheers, Ben.

When dealing with SE/3's you gotta check the MEmory Control Panel. Be sure
32 bit access is on, then restart. No Mo Ho...

yeah, that was the problem... MODE32 wasn't installed... I'd installed it
with the last hard disk and obviously it doesn't hold itself in PRAM or
anything fancy like that.

Healed My IIci! (Heartbroken over my IIci epilogue)

2002-06-22 Thread Jason Trunzo

Hey Evrybody! Thanks for all the help!

This is what I have done:

I put an 80meg hard drive in, replaced the ribbon cable with one
from a IIsi, put in new RAM (but it's not enough! I wanted 32megs
instead I have 16 - or 4 sticks of 4 each..all my 1meg sticks were
bad and I don't have any more 4meggers) blew all the dust bunnies
away, hooked it up to a voltage regulator, powered up and.HAVE MY
IIci BACK!

The ribbon was bad, and so was the RAM

Thanks for your help!

I need some 4meg sticks, anybody got some? I need 8 so I can have 32
megs in this machine and 16 for my IIsi.

Thanks again everybody!

OS 7.5.3 Install Error on SE/30

2002-06-22 Thread Vern Andrews

Have made numerous attempts to install OS 7.5.3 on my SE/30. Every time it seems
that the install is going ok, until about 6 minutes later, message is asking me to
insert the OS
7.5.3 Install Disk !? I am using the file downloaded from

Does anybody know where I can get the Full Install version of OS 7.5.3 that will
work on an SE/30 ?

I also tried booting from another drive (successfully), but the same thing
happens with the attempt to install . . .
