2005-07-07 Thread Beniamino Cenci Goga
The 7200 hasn't got the upgradable processor, so sonnet came out with
this PCI card.

I think it will not work in anything else than the 7200/8200,
however, since the 9600 is plenty of PCI slots it could be an
interesting experiment.

Found a ROM SIMM....

2005-07-07 Thread John Niven
In my local computer junkyard I found this SIMM in an antistatic bag,
so I have no idea where it comes from.

It's a 64 pin simm with a notch in the middle. It has four, socketed,
EPROM's which have stickers on the top. These read:

342-073*
C APPLE 1983-89
W8929

where the * is 3, 4, 5, or 6 for each EPROM.

Clearly W8929 means week 29 of 1989.

On the web I found a reference to these ROM numbers that indicate they
belong to a Mac IIci.

The PCB is marked 1MEG ROM SIMM AP1257-01

Anybody any suggestions what could be done with this SIMM?

John

300 USD for an 8200 with that little amount of RAM is way too much:
you better look for a G3/G4 processor card for your 9600.

Have a look on ebay: they start from as little as 10 bucks.
