Re: Mac Plus

2005-09-28 Thread Scott Baret
This is a far fetched idea and it may not make any
difference, but I remember that Pluses worked best
with a drive that was formatted with a 3:1 ratio. The
SE/30, which probably formatted the drive, used a 1:1.
I can't say for sure if this will make a difference,
but it is worth investigating.

To try this experiment I'd format the drive on the
Plus and then use the SE/30 to move the files.
Remember--if the Plus can format the drive it will
recognize it unless the drive is possessed or
something (and believe me--computers do get
possessed--remember my post a while ago about that
IIcx that came on by itself?)

Mac Plus

2005-09-28 Thread Thomas Burns
I'm trying to hook up an external HD to a Mac Plus with 4mbs of ram.The HD
set to SCSI 6, and I have a terminal plug in the other SCSI socket. The HD
is a 2G Quantum Fireball ST. I can't get the Plus to boot from the drive.
However I have an old 20mb HD that has system 6.0.8 on it and when I stick
it in the same case as the Quantum (swapping it) it boots from 20mb drive. I
put system 7.5.5 on the Quantum via a Mac SE/30, but still the Plus won't
recognize the drive to boot off. I can boot off a floppy and the HD drive
comes up and I can see all the system software.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Thomas
