A general tip on posting URLs- except with microsoft

2003-02-17 Thread Paul Stamsen
I have just been given to understand the microsoft e-mailer does not
observe this convention. Pity.

At 8:02 +, 2/17/03, out of the ether, it was observed:

I think your links are ok but in OE they take two lines. The first half of
the link (the top line) is a hyperlink but the second half of the link (the
second line) is in ordinary text which a browser will not recognise.

In my OE your links look like this

 http://www.applefritter.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/
 YaBB.pl?board=powercc;action=display;num=1044807145

 As a reminder,

If you remember to add and both before and after the URL, it
will hang together, thus:
http://www.applefritter.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/
YaBB.pl?board=powercc;action=display;num=1044807145
regardless of the line length set by your e-mailer and regardless of
which e-mailer you use.

It's just a nagging detail, but it does help everyone, especially the
newbies (and the oldies, whose memory is slipping) who ask such
questions.

QuadList nanny decided to moderate ...

Well, note the new 'Subject:' line. I've seen several threads on several of
the LEM lists about case modding. Would this be a fruitful topic for a new
list? Where, besides here as a reaction to a moderation, would be the
appropriate place for a list non-nanny to bring up the idea of a new list?

Ok, as I noted, stick to it. In that case it's on-topic!

In my case ('scuse the pun!!!) I didn't need to get the two lids apart.
The whole idea is that the two bases still detach by the clips
originally added for the purpose so I can access both halves just like
a normal LC. I don't know what the lid is like on a IIsi but I know the
same would work for a IIci for example...

Oh. In that case (or in those cases), stick in there!

2001-07-25 Thread Paul Stamsen

At 11:04 am -0600 7/25/01, regarding Handgun ban sig, Paul Stamsen penned:

- I wrote the questions to see if anyone would like to think about the
- sig and discuss it, not to generate heat.
-I have taken it to M2M: [EMAIL PROTECTED];
-
-Sorry for the initial mis-posting, but if anyone wants to argue
- with me on it, that's where I'll be.

Hey, I admit it, I chose the wrong place to try and get a little
debate started. Please come over to M2M: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; to
discuss this.

I never should have brought it up here.

I was wrong.

I admit it.

Now please, take it to M2M!

Handgun ban sig

2001-07-24 Thread Paul Stamsen

At 7:40 pm -0400 7/24/01, regarding Re: Most stable OS, Steve Moody
penned sagely:

- Handgun crime in Britain has increased more than 40% since the
- handgun ban of 1997.

What percent of the crimes were violations of the ban?

IOW, did the *ban* cause the crimes?

  Just a thought. . . .
