Re: My Newest Compact....a Performa 5xxx?
I went to a farmer's market a while back, and they had a computer shop. Among others, they were selling a 6100 DOS 40/1GB w/monitor, KB, mouse for $250, a Q605 for $175, and a SE for $75. Also, they had a 128k, with KB and mouse, in the carry bag for $75. They even had Apple ][ series systems in the $50 area. When I saw the prices, I started laughing. I bet a few people were staring at me... Meanwhile, though, the fellow who puts stuff out at Thrift Town here seems to have lost touch with reality: He's offering a complete Macintosh system of a IIci, monitor and One Scanner for $90a complete IBM 486 system is (teehee) $249.00. He has $20 on an Apple TwoPage mono display, and I bought mine there a few months ago for $3.99. I've bought seven or eight IIci's there for $7.99 or less. I think he's got heatstroke, or else discovered eBay ;-) -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... So I'm kinda wondering who made that and for what purpose... p Exactly. The only identifying marks on it are CHINA and Pleasant Company molded into the back at the bottom. What a hoot...pleasant company indeed. Some sort of Apple perk or promo item? It seems too faithful to not have Apple's hand in it somewhere. b.b. -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
