Speed Doubler 8, and possibly previous versions (even
though i am not sure), don't just do faster 68k
emulation on PPC macs. They also allow a faster
network copy protocol and some drive speed
enhancements (or so they say, as i have not noticed
much of an improvement). In addition, they add
configurable key combos to be like a shortcut to
different commands. It also allows a secure-erase by
zeroing out the area on the drive where a file resided
and can change whether or not a drive verifies the
file transfers.

I don't know which version first had this, but when
I used RAM Doubler I turned compression Off so it
was only doing virtual memory.

Speed Doubler is only for running 68k programs on a
PPC. It replaces Apples 68k CPU emulation along with a
bunch of other optimizations.

Yep! Just like with car engines, no replacement for
displacement! :)

Ram Doubler can do well in many Macs. It uses a combo of virtual-memory-like
swapping and software voodoo but DOES slow down everything you do.

I don't want to sound elitist, but there's no substitute for more RAM. It
really makes every Mac a bit spunkier.

RAMDoubler works fairly well. I've used it on my IIsi and I did notice some
increase in performance.

i have been told be fairly reliable sources that ram double 2.0 works
very well and doesnt cost much in performance. is this true, and can
the same be said about speed doubler? and where can a fellow find a copy?
