Ok, go to work for KNFB and convince them of the truth of what you are saying.

I worked in the AT arena for around five years. I went in with this very
intention. After five years, I switched my focus to the general consumer
electronics market, where I had significantly more success.

Anyway, a couple of questions for those of you who at least who have got

1) I've installed ITunes on a second computer and want to import all
contents of my current ITunes so as to be able to swap freely between
computers. I seem to remember you can copy all the contents of the
ITunes folder structure and replace on the second computer; but does
this really work so simply or do I need to be careful which files I take
across?

2) My ITunes seems to be behaving rather erratically about ejecting my
iPod and/or phone after use. (I do ensure that sync is complete before I
attempt to eject.) Would it help to rename them in a certain way, or is
there anything else I can do?? At present one is named as iPod and the
other as Phone.

3) What's the easiest way to work on a group of songs and select them
when they're not necessarily next to each other?

Finally, here's a suggestion or two:

I know some really hate ITunes and, at the very least, others of us
struggle to get to grips with it. Jonathan's podcasts of course were
excellent but I personally would like perhaps shorter tuition type
podcasts, dealing only with a task or two in each session, with
repetition if needed and a second/third walk through of that task so
that you can practice along as you listen. If anyone feels able to do
more podcasts on ITunes for those of us who find it more difficult to
work with the programme, I for one would very much appreciate this.

Finally, I am working hard to try to learn more in this area and, for
example, have been getting to grips with the various shortcut keys
available which certainly do speed things up. I would recommend that any
beginner tries to look at the Help for this programme. (Why didn't I
really stick at it at the beginning,I ask myself!)

Make sure that you choose the menu button to go back to the main menu before
you try and create a new rout.
This button is on the top left of the screen typically where the back button
 is.
I also noticed that when you start your rout that you have to tap the start

Re: elusive OCR App

2012-05-04 Thread Scott Howell
David,

I concur and this is why I have not bothered with any of the color ID apps for
the iPhone. There are likely instances where the iPhone's camera may perform
sufficiently, but ingeneral lighting is always going to be an issue and one
even the iPhone cannot overcome, yet. :)

On May 4, 2012, at 1:56 AM, David Chittenden wrote:

 Hello,

The problem with colour recogniser apps is not the camera. The problem is the
inconsistent lighting. For sighted people, colours look different based on
how much light there is. This is a concept which is very difficult for blind
people to comprehend. The way specialised colour identifiers work is by
housing the light next to the lens of the camera. One places the identifier
directly on the colour item. Because the device is tuned to the specific
light used in the device, a person always receives a constant result.

In the real world, the darker the ambient light, the darker the colour - and
this is the case across the board, for all colours. The only way to
constantly get perfect results is to go with one of the expensive, specially
built colour identifiers. It is impossible with devices like the iPhone. The
light is not mounted around the lens. The light is close to the lens, so if
you place the iPhone against the item, you block all the light and the colour
becomes black. Sorry folks, but this is the way it is, and whining about it
will not change the laws of physics - ever!

What I am trying to say, is that even with knfb, you had to go to a lot of

A phone which, as other people have said on list is now disappearing, just

I mean, would any iPhone users seriously go back to symbian and nokia, just

 I really doubt it.
Besides which, talks is barely keeping up with new handsets and developers
don't care about the oppinions of users at all, by developers, I mean nuance
as they don't really support the team who actually work on talks.
the last few versions have just been about adding support for handsets, not
really adding any new features or even accessibility for apps.

 Hello All.

I come quite late to this thread.

I am a braille transcriber and live in the UK. To assure you all that
capitalised braille is used by children who are in education here in the UK as
I am transcribing books on a daily basis.

Seconly, this debate about correct spelling is not due to the usage of speech
itself but to how children are taught in schools and this will be so until the
end of time.

Thirdly, I dislike people who put braille down (this is so by the younger
generation who have grown up with computers) and does a disservice to our
braille.

To get back on topic, we need refreshable braille to use with our I phones in
my opinion az we blind users remember more when information is at our
fingertips. I grew up with no computers, no internet or E-mail so appreciate
the advancement of technologies.

Thank you for your attention.

Kawal.

activate the second computer, it will be seen as another library. The
iPhone can only be synced with 1 library. Now, on the other hand, if
you just want iTunes on the second computer for listening to music
directly on that computer, it's possible just as long as you still
only sync your phone to and from the original computer. This is how I
understand your question.

Hi all,

Just when I think I'm getting the hang of ITunes, well, um, perhaps I'm
not! Anyone else feel the same? Smiles

Anyway, a couple of questions for those of you who at least who have
got
to grips with it and feel able to give these a shot!

1) I've installed ITunes on a second computer and want to import all
contents of my current ITunes so as to be able to swap freely between
computers. I seem to remember you can copy all the contents of the
ITunes folder structure and replace on the second computer; but does
this really work so simply or do I need to be careful which files I
take
across?

2) My ITunes seems to be behaving rather erratically about ejecting my
iPod and/or phone after use. (I do ensure that sync is complete
before I
attempt to eject.) Would it help to rename them in a certain way, or is
there anything else I can do??

I would recommend that
any
beginner tries to look at the Help for this programme. (Why didn't I
really stick at it at the beginning,I ask myself!)

But if you want to stream from your computers away from home, Audio

Re: wifi on my iPhone

2012-05-04 Thread James Mannion
What are the first 3 digits of the IP address it is getting? It may be
getting a local and not a valid address. This has been a common issue
with IOS in previous versions and it may still be an issue. Obviously
it is not a problem with all routers and configurations, but has been
with some. There is a local place close to where I live that has free
wifi that I tried to connect to once and made numerous attempts a few
ios versions ago and had the same issue or at least the issue with it
only asigning a local address. I haven't tried since. Not worth it to
connect to their free wifi anyway.
