Re: ESPN radio.COM
I use this app every day with great success! That also might have to do with the fact that I have had a log in user name and password for almost 2 years. I got it when I first started reading sport storys on ESPN.com. You can skip the log in and just listen if you want, it's the last unlabeled button at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, you can get sited help, create a user name and password, this will make your experience much more successful. Good luck! Hi. I heard a bit about the app today in a show. They were talking about Siri and that some people are disappointed that it's not on every iPhone. So with this new Google app, can you do the exact same things you can do with Siri like calling people, sending texts or is it just for searching stuff? -- Shawn Sent from my White MacBook using SamNet -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. After your post, I checked into it, and mine does it, too. I am using an iPhone 5, with the latest IOS update. When it starts reading the paragraph again, I run my finger down the left side of the screen, find the next paragraph, and do the two-finger swipe down to start it reading from where it is supposed to be reading. Re: any apps out there read perscriptions?
Hello, I highly recommend that you visit the Digit-Eyes web site. Nancy M. has done a terrific job on giving instructions on how to find barcodes to get you started. Here are some ideas: 1. most times on a cereal box or on other food boxes, the barcodes will be on the bottom or on one of sides. 2. For round cans, find the seam of the label and move to the left first to find the label. However, the barcode may be to the right of the seam. 3. for barcodes on packages such as rice, chips, etc., find the seam on the celophane or plastic bag and try all the corners. These are just some suggestions. HTH. Best, EileenKSent from my iPhone On Apr 28, 2013, at 5:27 PM, Beth G bethm...@gmail.com wrote: Hi, I have DigitEyes And struggling to scan the barcodes. Re: Google now launched for IOS.
I debated long and hard between an iPhone and a phone running Android 4.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich). I chose the iPhone because it did have better accessibility, but I wouldn't have characterized Android 4.1's accessibility as greatly lacking, and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) is even better with respect to accessibility. I agree Android has room for improvement as far as accessibility goes, but so does everyone, since no one is perfect. Re: How to be blind episode 45
Duly noted folks, The only reason that that email was so brief and to the point was because I had screaming children and other Chaos happening around me at the time. Perhaps I should have waited to send it but I wanted to get out to you all as soon as possible. The how to be blind podcast is nothing new to this list even though I understand many of the people reading this list are new. The outline of the show usually never changes. There are articles about blindness, lots of apps, and some extra random things thrown in for fun. That is how every single show works so if there is ever a question down the road now you will know. I do appreciate the feedback and will be sure to make sure to include details in the future. Mike Mll On Apr 30, 2013, at 4:36 AM, Sean Paul newsandtraf...@aol.com wrote: I'm the same way. So, aside from talking about the accessibility of different operating systems and perhaps pointing out the flaws in Android, can we get back to the original topic of this thread of the Google Now app? iBooks changing pages help
Hi, I'm having trouble adjusting pages in iBooks. I'm reading midway into Chapter 3 at about page 89, but I fell asleep for about 15 pages, and want to go back that far, earlier in the same chapter. I find the double tap and hold and slide, but that seems to take me back to beginning of Chapter 3 or Chapter 2. It announces, too, that I can swipe up or down to change pages one at a time, but when I do this I don't get any page change. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong (or, at least, not right). Hello, SQLed allows you to import a CSV file into a database. It does not give you any good way to view the data though. I have not found any other spreadsheet, or database, application that works much better though. IDatabase does allow you to view the data in a decent manner, but doesn't have any real good way to import data. If your database is small, with only a few columns, you can try to open your .CSV file from DropBox to IDatabase, and it will import the information that way, but it hasn't worked too well as far as I have managed so far. Re: iBooks changing pages help
Hi , Touch the page chooser, which tells you which page you're on and to double-tap and hold to switch pages. Flick up with one finger to go to the previous page, or down to go to the next one. Or double-tap and hold, and slide left or right. How far you move when you do this depends on how far and how quickly you slide your finger. The more slowly you slide, the fewer changes you move through. Another possibility, if you want to go to the beginning of the chapter, is to choose the Table of Contents button near the top of the screen. This takes you to a list of all the chapters. Double-tap the one you want, and you'll be at the beginning of it. Re: iBooks changing pages help
Hello, Keith, Use three fingers to slide up or down, depending whether the device is set to slide the text or the scrollbar. You should hear vO announce page numbers, and also a little chirping noise as the page changes. If you don't want to use this method, you can note what page you're on, then find the search button at the top of the screen and double-tap it. Type in the page number you want and hit search. Hope this helps, Teresa On Apr 30, 2013, at 1:47 PM, Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D. kramlinger.ke...@mayo.edu wrote: Hi, I’m having trouble adjusting pages in iBooks. recent issues connecting to the iTunes store
Hello list, So I’ve been having issues with updating my apps in the iTunes store on my iPhone 4S. At first I thought it was just something with one or two apps or perhaps one of those periodic store outages that happen from time to time. However, this has gone on now for about three days and the updates that aren’t downloading are starting to pile up. I currently have 7 updates in the updates tab. Every time I either select the update all option or try to just initiate the update on one app, I’ll get the error message of iTunes cannot connect to the store etc. I haven’t’ seen other messages on the list regarding this problem so I’m wondering if it may just be me or maybe others are in fact experiencing this same issue? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. RE: recent issues connecting to the iTunes store
Hi, I have been experiencing the same thing recently. I seem to have gotten it to clear up by going to Settings, iTunes and App Stores, signing out of my account, and then signing back in. I then went back to the apps that were hanging on the update, opened them, and the updates finished. I hope this works for you. RE: BeMyEyes: A ground braking product I'm a part of
Vizwiz already does this. You take a photo record a question and it uploads to a server and volunteers send answers back. This is just my humble opinion, but if you skype or facetime a person just to get the answer to a question like what can is this or the expiary date etc, using vizwiz or even a scanning app such as text detective seems much quicker and more efficient, and if you were to call a stranger ask your question and have them answer you probably in less than a minute, seems a bit pointless use of data and time consumption when there are already other apps out there. I agree when you have sighted family and friends as well as other apps I've mentioned and others, I personally feel there isn't a need for this one. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of John Diakogeorgiou Sent: Tuesday, 30 April 2013 12:35 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: BeMyEyes: A ground braking product I'm a part of Hi: Hi: Their are people who don't have access to family or friends that can help them sometimes. When people say that someone can invite them to play Dice World, they should make sure and say what games they are willing to play. Re: M4A
Hi, I don't think they need to be converted. There is no difference in fidelity from M4a to mp3 in my opinion. And since iTunes is the number 1 music store in the world, almost all devices and media players support M4a files. hth Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On May 1, 2013, at 12:36 AM, Ray T. Found an album and downloaded it through the phone. Oops! Maybe? Looking at the extensions they were M4A. Was there something I missed and would they have downloaded as MP3 had I downloaded them through the craptop? Thinking about it this may be one where apple arbitrarily decided we're apple and we know what's best for you. So, How can they be converted with as little loss of fidelity as possible? The subjective element of that question is do they need to be? Ray T. Mahorney WA4WGA -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Best weather app in the US
Although it is a bit expensive, weather alert USA is by far and away the best in my opinion. I am an extreme weather freak, even to the point of driving everyone who knows me crazy. Therefore you can rest assured I have tried just about every weather app out there. Weather alert USA is about $20, but provides detailed 7 day forecasts and notes, as well as more than 120 different types of severe weather weather and other hazardous alerts for any specified area or multiple states and/or counties at once. The app is completely VO friendly and I figured out how to set it up and use it just by taking time to play around with it. I don't have things memorized but the ease of use is such that memorization is not necessary, all settings are saved in iCloud backups so if you have to restore everything is restored to how you had it set up before the most recent backup.
