Out of curiosity how many music tracks do you have that you don't think 125

Hi Daniel,

I haven't seen this problem. My only suggestion is to check to see if the watch
is running the latest software and to update it if necessary. A lot of bugs
were fixed in version 1.0.1, and depending on when your watch was put together,
it may be running the original software.

To check for updates, open the Apple Watch app on your phone, choose General,
and then choose Software Update.

Also, can anybody give me tips on how to remove the band? I'm having real

2015-07-08 Thread Paul Ferrara

Please clarify; you only download if you buy it in iTunes, right?
If you store it in my music which is the iCloud library, listening to it
uses up data?

If any of that is incorrect, please inform me.

It is recommended you use wifi unless you have a high or unlimited data plan
to listen to music stored in your iCloud Music Library. When you download,
it can be listened either online or offline, ideal for those on a limited
data plan or whose local network is out of range.

Let's clear this first and foremost. You do not "buy" the music in Apple
Music; you "rent" it, like you would rent a movie from Netflix. When you
download from Apple Music, it is like downloading anything else to your
device; space will be taken up on your device. You can, however, store as
much music as you want in your iCloud Music library. This does not count
towards your free 5 GB plan for iCloud storage.

Sieghard as much as I agree with you about the backup, it's probably
the last thing he wanted to hear right now. I lost a 2tb drive a few

2015-07-08 Thread Edmonds, Lucy (LARA)
Okay, I have a problem. I have a 5S which is my primary phone, and is served by
AT&T. I also have an old 4S which I just use when it is connected to WI-FI. I
updated the 5S to 8.4 Sunday, and am thoroughly enjoying Apple Music. Last
night, I decided to update the 4S, and it installed well. However, this device
cannot connect to the iCloud server. Can anyone tell me why? Before I updated
both phones, they would automatically sync to whatever I did on either device.

Hope I made myself clear, and I would appreciate any input.
Thanks.

2015-07-08 Thread Rose Combs
Not David, but Book Share used to have the DSM IV on site, I am not sure about
the new DSM V that was released in 2013, however.
I can also tell you that I have been able to use the Micro medics drug app on
my iPhone for the past several years, however, I don't recall recent updates.
Then of course there are search engines which can be used with Safari. I
needed these a couple of years ago when the hospital updated to IE 8 and I had
JAWS 9 which did not work with IE 8, had to use my phone for months until they
could purchase or would purchase and upgrade Jaws.

David,
Since you just publicly stated what your career was, I'd like to take this one
step further. I fully respect your wishes should you not want to answer these
questions.
Can you access the current DSM through your iPhone? TO what extent to iDevices
play a roll in your work? Are there specific apps that make work in your field
easier? Can you do your record keeping using Apple products?
I'm not in the mental health field at all, but am curious.

Same thing happened to me at the hospital but once they outsourced I was a
nothing to new company except trouble, uncooperative, someone they felt did not
know my job or my software. I still have nightmares about that six weeks.

some things were not at all accessible for me but had a manager and supervisors
who understood and accepted that I did well with what I was able to access.
They outsourced the department in March of this year and the new company swore
everything was accessible! Well I discovered from the time we started the
hiring process, training and then actually working that many things I needed to
do were not accessible, adding copies, checking visit dates, etc. I lasted six
weeks with the new company, first time I’d ever been dismissed because I could
not do the work, it was not the terminology or the doctors I got but
inaccessible payroll, partially accessible time clock, inability to perform
tasks to route the reports where they needed to be etc. In the end I got too
sick to call in for a couple of days, I was in the ICU at the hospital where I
formerly worked! And that was the reason they gave for my termination. I was
so relieved to get out of there that I did not argue the point. So now I have
taken early retirement and am in better health but mostly bored to death. Had
my late husband been here I would not have minded so much but being alone is no
way to retire in my opinion.

I do not see how a MAC would have made any difference to me, as the programs I
was running were based on Windows 7! I have used JAWS for nearly 20 years, and
have experience with other screen readers also. I have an iPhone and a first
generation iPad currently and there was no way I could have used them in my
six-week horrible experience.

I thought about buying a MAC a year and a half ago, just to learn how to use it
for the fun of it. However, my husband’s illness and then death prevented me
from buying one.

Other than Windows and Office 2010 itself, my screen reading software packages
are up-to-date.

I could not use Office 2013 on the job, and many that I see offered are on
platforms that would be a problem for me even using Windows 7 and Office 2010.

So, working around some things may work for you and I am very glad it does but
for me, I don’t think having a MAC would have been of assistance in my
situation.

specialised windows software which, in my experience, is not at all accessible.
So, I needed to create work-arounds with the clinic where I work. In my case, I
prefer using Mac for the reasons I already stated. In fact, most of my work is
now done using the iPhone and iPad with braille screen input. This looks most

Hello,

I have a couple versions of both DSM IV TR, and DSM V. They are from a couple
different sources, including Bookshare. I use a reader app to access DSM.

I use Apple's notes for my case notes. I use Apple Calendar for all my
appointments. Reception has access to my business calendar for scheduling.

I use pages for writing forms and letters. I then export to doc and email to
reception for printing. Reception fills out any paper forms with my direction.

I use KNFB Reader for OCR of paper, including letters, journal articles, an so
forth.

For book reading, I use Kindle and iBooks for their specifically formatted
books. Otherwise, I use Read2Go and Voice Dream. For PDF paperwork, I use
iBooks. Also, I have a growing collection of specialised materials in ePub
which I use iBooks to access.

I am about to start using numbers next week.

Oh, I use KeyNote for presentations.

Finally, I use braille screen input on my iPhone 6+ or my iPad for all of my
writing. I love continuity between Apple products as I can jump between devices
whilst working.

I use music when I need to play quiet background relaxation music during
hypnosis sessions.

I do everything for work on my iPhone or iPad.

to listen to music stored in your iCloud Music Library. When you download,
it can be listened either online or offline, ideal for those on a limited

Let's clear this first and foremost. You do not "buy" the music in Apple
Music; you "rent" it, like you would rent a movie from Netflix. When you
download from Apple Music, it is like downloading anything else to your
device; space will be taken up on your device. You can, however, store as
much music as you want in your iCloud Music library. This does not count
towards your free 5 GB plan for iCloud storage.

Hi David

I'm just curious. What specifically do you do in the medical field? Is it
coding and billing or medical transcription? A friend of mine was looking to
enter the medical field. Specifically, he was looking for a program for coding
and billing. He has an iPad, iPhone, Mac and a Windows machine but none of
those were able to fully access the medical website that he had to use.

Thank you

I do not know about other fields. In the health professions, most companies use
specialised windows software which, in my experience, is not at all accessible.
So, I needed to create work-arounds with the clinic where I work. In my case, I
prefer using Mac for the reasons I already stated. In fact, most of my work is
now done using the iPhone and iPad with braille screen input. This looks most
like what everybody knows, so it is not distracting to my clients. After all,
as several sighted people have confirmed, everybody randomly touches their
smartphones.

It is recommended you use wifi unless you have a high or unlimited data plan to
listen to music stored in your iCloud Music Library. When you download, it can
be listened either online or offline, ideal for those on a limited data plan or
whose local network is out of range.

access. They outsourced the department in March of this year and the new
company swore everything was accessible! Well I discovered from the time we
started the hiring process, training and then actually working that many things
I needed to do were not accessible, adding copies, checking visit dates, etc.
I lasted six weeks with the new company, first time I’d ever been dismissed
because I could not do the work, it was not the terminology or the doctors I
got but inaccessible payroll, partially accessible time clock, inability to
perform tasks to route the reports where they needed to be etc. In the end I
got too sick to call in for a couple of days, I was in the ICU at the hospital
where I formerly worked! And that was the reason they gave for my termination.
I was so relieved to get out of there that I did not argue the point. So now I
have taken early retirement and am in better health but mostly bored to death.
Had my late husband been here I would not have minded so much but being alone
is no way to retire in my opinion.

I do not see how a MAC would have made any difference to me, as the
programs I was running were based on Windows 7! I have used JAWS for nearly 20
years, and have experience with other screen readers also. I have an iPhone
and a first generation iPad currently and there was no way I could have used
them in my six-week horrible experience.

I thought about buying a MAC a year and a half ago, just to learn how
to use it for the fun of it. However, my husband’s illness and then death
prevented me from buying one.

Other than Windows and Office 2010 itself, my screen reading software
packages are up-to-date.

I could not use Office 2013 on the job, and many that I see offered are
on platforms that would be a problem for me even using Windows 7 and Office
2010.

So, working around some things may work for you and I am very glad it
does but for me, I don’t think having a MAC would have been of assistance in my

Re: [Bulk] Re: Apple Music review

2015-07-08 Thread Chris Chaffin

By default, any music you add from Apple Music to My Music is not downloaded to
your device, so you will need either a WIFI connection or data in order to
stream and listen to it.
Now, if you want, there is an option in the more menu to make the music you
choose available offline. By choosing this option, it will download the
selected music to your device. Any music you make available offline does not
need any internet connection like WIFI or data to play.
But remember, all Apple Music is streamed unless you choose the option to make
it available offline.

2015-07-08 Thread christopher hallsworth
Hi all
Sorry for the vague subject.
When you restored your iPhone 4s and set it up as a new device, did it ever
crash out on you when trying to configure its settings? I encountered this
strange behaviour when restoring Hannah's iPhone 4s as a new device this
afternoon as it was as slow as a tortoise. Lol! Seriously, I swiped around
settings when all of a sudden it froze, then came back but with absolutely no
speech from VoiceOver at all. But the sounds were there so it wasn't as if
VoiceOver suddenly went off. I tried the three finger double tap to no avail.
The only solution was a hard reboot accomplished by pressing and holding the
home and sleep/wake buttons together for at least ten seconds. We are both
running iOS 8.4.
Any experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What options are before or after the online option; I simply have not found

By default, any music you add from Apple Music to My Music is not downloaded
to your device, so you will need either a WIFI connection or data in order
to stream and listen to it.
Now, if you want, there is an option in the more menu to make the music you
choose available offline. By choosing this option, it will download the
selected music to your device. Any music you make available offline does
not need any internet connection like WIFI or data to play.
But remember, all Apple Music is streamed unless you choose the option to
make it available offline.

It is recommended you use wifi unless you have a high or unlimited data
plan to listen to music stored in your iCloud Music Library. When you
download, it can be listened either online or offline, ideal for those on
a limited data plan or whose local network is out of range.

No if you have them in the Audible app they stay there, it is just those you
got from iTunes that moved.

Now that the audiobooks have been moved from itunes to ibooks, what's going to
happen to the audiobooks I have purchased from Audible? Will they have been
moved to ibooks as well? Or are they still in iTunes?

Many thanks

I was so relieved to get out of there that I did not argue the point. So now I

2010.

So, working around some things may work for you and I am very glad it
does but for me, I don’t think having a MAC would have been of assistance in my
situation.

Re: [Bulk] Re: Apple Music review

2015-07-08 Thread Chris Chaffin
When you are on the My Music tab, just go to the song or album you want to
listen to offline, flick down with one finger until you hear more, than double
tap.
You will get the pop up window with the list of choices, after the choice
remove from my music, you will find the choice, make available offline. Just
double tap this to download to your device.

Now, you can also reverse that. If you had previously made some music
available offline, but now want to put it back in the cloud to stream, you do
the same thing as above, but instead of it saying make available offline, it
will say, remove download.
And you would double tap that to remove it from your device and put it back in
the cloud to stream again.

And of coarse, to remove it from your music library totally, you would choose
remove from my music from the same pop up menu.

Hope this helps!

Chris

When you are on the My Music tab, just go to the song or album you want to
listen to offline, flick down with one finger until you hear more, than
double tap.
You will get the pop up window with the list of choices, after the choice
remove from my music, you will find the choice, make available offline.
Just double tap this to download to your device.

Now, you can also reverse that. If you had previously made some music
available offline, but now want to put it back in the cloud to stream, you
do the same thing as above, but instead of it saying make available offline,
it will say, remove download.
And you would double tap that to remove it from your device and put it back
in the cloud to stream again.

And of coarse, to remove it from your music library totally, you would
choose remove from my music from the same pop up menu.

Hope this helps!

Chris

By default, any music you add from Apple Music to My Music is not
downloaded to your device, so you will need either a WIFI connection or
data in order to stream and listen to it.
Now, if you want, there is an option in the more menu to make the music
you choose available offline. By choosing this option, it will download
the selected music to your device. Any music you make available offline
does not need any internet connection like WIFI or data to play.

Let's clear this first and foremost. You do not "buy" the music in Apple
Music; you "rent" it, like you would rent a movie from Netflix. When you
download from Apple Music, it is like downloading anything else to your
device; space will be taken up on your device. You can, however, store

Some Positive Feedback from Apple Regarding Manually-Created AudioBooks

2015-07-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Fellow audiobook listeners:

1.
Any books purchased from iTunes will play perfectly in iBooks on iOS 8.4 or
later.

2.
I heard back from Apple stating that they are well aware of the complaint
that iBooks does not respect/display individual track titles and that they
are considering this a bug.

3.
Until and/or unless Apple revises iBooks to respect/display individual track
titles, I suggest that the native iOS Podcast app be used to playback
manually created audiobooks.

BlindSquare Navigation App - Free during July & August, 2015

2015-07-08 Thread Danny Leung
Hi Canadian,

I received an email today and know BlindSquare is offer for free in the month
of July & August! I cut and paste the content of the email below:

*** Begin Note ***

Hi Everyone,

As most of you will know, this summer Ontario is hosting the Pan Am and Para
Pan Am Games, which are the largest multisport games Canada has ever hosted.
These events will only increase the flood of summer tourists and visitors that
Ontario sees every year. For those visitors to our province who are blind or
partially sighted, independent and safe navigation can be a real challenge.
This is why CNIB is proud to announce that BlindSquare, a navigation app that
won our Winston Gordon Award for Accessibility, is being offered free of charge
to all for the months of July and August.

BlindSquare is the world’s most popular accessible GPS-app developed for
individuals who are blind or partially sighted. It describes the environment,
announces points of interest and street intersections as its user travels or
plans future journeys. It’s been programmed with points of interest -- hotels,
restaurants, Pan Am and Para Pan Am Games venues, festival locations and more.
Users with vision loss can rely on BlindSquare to help them safely and
independently navigate the Greater Toronto Area (Toronto and a 250 km radius)
during their visit. Sighted users who are visitors to the GTA can also benefit
from its clear and easy-to-use interface. BlindSquare is available in 22
languages, thus positioning it as ideal for visitors to and participants in the
Pan Am and Para Pan Am Games, the largest multi-sport games Canada has hosted.

BlindSquare - which is available exclusively through Apple’s App Store – uses
GPS, the iPhone compass and FourSquare to deliver information verbally about
what is around the user. The app can be used to find the most popular eatery
within a radius of interest, as well as to find a specific venue. Users can
shake the device for updates on where they are and information about nearby
intersections and venues. BlindSquare also tracks progress towards a
destination and can mark a position, helping its user to find that spot again
later.

To learn more about BlindSquare you can read our media release here.

BlindSquare has created a video announcement you can watch here. Please note:
this video is not accessible.

To download BlindSquare, simply click on this link.

While BlindSquare normally retails for US$30, for July and August, 2015, CNIB
and BlindSquare are pleased to offer it for free to any and all interested
users.

*** end note ***

Amazon fire TV app

2015-07-08 Thread Mary Otten
Has anyone tried using the app for the Amazon fire TV on their iPhone? My
husband got an Amazon fire TV stick, and this app is supposed to be compatible
with it. I couldn't get past the initial step where you are supposed to type in
a four digit code to get the fire stick connected to the app. But assuming that
is actually possible, has anyone used the app and is it accessible? I was
hoping to be able to navigate using the app, since the TV itself is not
accessible.

A Question About The Default VoiceOver Volume Level

2015-07-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Earlier today, I added the Volume level adjuster to my VoiceOver Rotor.

I inadvertently began changing the volume level and cannot remember what it
was set to before I messed things up.

I think it was set to 60% but am not certain. I am certain, however, that
it was not set to 100%.

Does anyone know what the default VoiceOver volume level is set to in the
Rotor?

Thank you for any feedback on this.
