need help signing back into the group

2015-12-31 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi, all. First of all, I hope you've had as great a Christmas as I have
visiting family for the last week and a half. I didn't want to have a
thousand or so emails when I got back, so signed out using directions
Siegert gave us. Now, however, I can't seem to sign back in. If anyone can
give me information to sign back into the group, I'd appreciate it. I had
no difficulty signing out for vacation, but can't seem to sign back into the
group. I can't find the "my settings" button. I appear to still be signed
into Google groups. My email is pau...@roadrunner.com. Thanks in advance
for any help.

God bless!

RE: Siri and contacts with company names only:

2015-12-31 Thread R VanLant
I'm in the same boat here. Siri will dial my kids pediatrician's office, but
when I ask for several other company listins in my phone contacts, it's
obvious Siri is looking on the web to find relevant numbers. I had the same
bad experience on my old iphone 4 before I had Siri and just used the build in
voice commands.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for letting me know.

Wow! That's really something.

I just tried the method I described on all three of my most recent iPhones and,
as I was at dinner with two sighted iPhone users, I tested the same method on
both of their iPhones and Siri worked perfectly. Unlike me, they both have the
new Six Plus S.

I'll definitely use the feedback form to add my voice to this problem.

Hello Mark,
Sorry, but I have already tried calling contacts that just have the name in the
company field by including the label, and Siri still says that there is no
phone number for that contact.
I can not say why Siri will call some of the contacts, and not call others, but
including or not including the label makes no difference.

In my own personal case, Siri will call all of my companies except for 2 or 3.
I can not find any difference in my company contacts, I use the same label for
all. I do think this is a problem that Apple needs to look into.

Hello,
Just a minute ago, I tried Siri to identify a song. However, instead of the

bluetooth weirdness with my apple watch

2015-12-31 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing some odd behavior with my watch when I connect it to a
bluetooth headset. I can hear voiceover just fine but, calls are not routed to
the bt headset which is kinda the entire point. lol.

I’ve gone into settings/general/accessibility on my iPhone and set call routing
to bluetooth headset. No dice.

So, I’ve tried 2 bt devices. My sennheiser momentum over ear wireless
headphones, and a jawbone era. I get the same behavior with both.

Any suggestions and, are others seeing this behavior?

Thanks.

RE: sharing a song by email or Imessage

2015-12-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Marie,

The "share" function in the Music app is not meant to send an actual copy of
the song but simply to share what song you are listening to. I assume it is a
matter of digital rights that you can't just email an actual copy of a song to
just anybody.
I tried this and selected by Mail and I sent the message to myself and here is
what it contains, basically just what I was listening to along with a link to
the song on the iTunes store:

Listen to You've Got to Stand for Something by Aaron Tippin on Apple Music.

And there's also GContacts app which can be Lite or paid. It was
kinda unstable on my old 4S but with my new phone it works great.
There is also an app called G Ringtones from the same developer
which allows you to add a ringtone to a group.

I'd recommend the app, A2Z Contacts.
Note the spelling, it uses the number 2 not the word.

It is completely VoiceOver accessible and free. For $1.99 you can get rid of the ads.

Hi, Everyone.
How do I create a distribution group from my contacts list? I see
references to being able to message multiple recipients, but want to
be able to create a group rather than have to pick all the time from
the Contacts list.

Thanks,
Dani

RE: A tip about Gmail and IOS devices and a question

2015-12-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The chargers are actually rated at Watts not Volts as all USB chargers deliver
5 Volts but different current (Amp). The formular is Volts times Amps = Watts
which also means Watts divided by Volts = Amp.
Apple makes 3 different wall adapters, a 5 Watt, a 10 Watt and a 12 Watt.

The 5 Watt is the one that comes with all iPhones, iPod Touches and Apple Watch
and it also came with the original iPad Mini.
The 10 Watt is what comes with all new iPad Mini Retina models, the iPad Air
and iPad Air 2 and older iPads except iPad fourth Gen
The 12 Watt charger is what you get with an iPad Pro and, for some reason, it
also came with the original iPad fourth generation.

Knowing all these deliver 5 Volts you can apply the above formular to figure
out how much current they can deliver:
5 Watts divided by 5 Volts = 1 Amp
10 Watts divided by 5 Volts = 2 Amp
12 Watts divided by 5 Volts = 2.4 Amp

The thing is that devices only draw as much current as they need which is why
an iPhone, which draws 1 Amp, can be safely charged with a 10 or for that
matter a 20 Watt charger. These may be capable of delivering 2 or 4 Amps, but
the iPhone won't use it. On the other hand if you try to charge a device like
the iPad which requires 2 Amps to charge with a 5 Watt charger which can only
deliver 1 Amp, it will charge very slowly.
USB ports on computers often only deliver 500 Milliamps (0.5 Amps) which is why
an iPad won't even charge at all when plugged into a USB port.

The main thing to remember is that you are not going to damage an iPhone by
using an iPad charger, the phone only draws as much as it needs and as Richard
pointed out, there is only one Lightnig cable from Apple and even if you buy a
third-party Lightning cable, you don't have anything to worryabout as long as
it is Apple Certified. I personally totally refuse to pay the Apple price for a
3 foot cable if I can get the same 3 foot cable or even a 6 or 10 foot cable
for less than half the price. The only issue I ever encountered with cables
like Amazon Basics is that the Lightning plug end often is thicker than the
Apple one and if you use certain cases with very tight openings these
third-party cables may not fit through the opening in the case.

Sieghard

The cables are not different, just the charger that plugs into the wall. iPads
charge with 10 volts while iPhones and iPod Touches charge with 5 volts.
The cables themselves are identical.

far as lightning cables go are the lightning cables for iPads are iPad mini's

So you can use lightning cable from a fire this to a six says to the 6+ so

Re: A tip about Gmail and IOS devices and a question

2015-12-31 Thread Gordan Radić

Hmmm, I wouldn't say so.
Let's for starters, distinguish a cable and a charger. Cables are
the same. If it is a USB to Lightning cable it's the same.
Difference is in the wall charger and they can be 5W and 1 or 2A
(ampers). iPads uses stronger wall chargers with 2A and iPhones are
use lighter with only 1A.
And now, few days ago I charged my 6S Plus at the friends house
using her 6 charger and I noticed it got very warm while charging
and I didn't noticed that with my charger I got with the S Plus so I
suspect that Plus models are using chargers with 2A.
And regarding Portias question, you are secure using the same cable
but try to avoid charging iPads or iPhone Plus models with chargers
you're not sure in.

RE: Answering a telephone call while you are already talking to another caller on your iphone

2015-12-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Bill,

Voiceover for me has been completely available and responsive ever since I
believe 9.1. What you describe sounds like what happened when iOS 9 first came
out. I wonder if somehow something has gone wrong during your updates and I'd
suggest you try to restore your iPhone and set up as a new phone (of course
after doing a backup). I would also suggest to make sure you close all apps and
do a Reset Network Settings before you do this. In fact, you could just try
this and see if it helps your phone call issue.

When this happens, do you just use the phone or do you use a wired or Bluetooth
earpiece/headset?
Maybe you can explain in more detail what exactly is happening as soon as you
place a call or receive a call and also if Voiceover as you say freezes, how to
you hang up and does Voiceover work again as soon as you end the call? What
iPhone do you have?

Sieghard

Concerning this thread, I’m not sure how any of this is possible when VoiceOver
seemingly locks up in iOS 9.2 as is happening whenever I’m on a phone call. If
anyone can offer a suggestion to eliminate this terribly annoying occurrence I
would sincerely appreciate said advice!

RE: How to Create a Distribution Group from Contacts List

2015-12-31 Thread Richard Turner
I'd recommend the app, A2Z Contacts.
Note the spelling, it uses the number 2 not the word.

It is completely VoiceOver accessible and free. For $1.99 you can get rid of
the ads.

Subject: How to Create a Distribution Group from Contacts List

Hi, Everyone.
How do I create a distribution group from my contacts list? I see
references to being able to message multiple recipients, but want to
be able to create a group rather than have to pick all the time from
the Contacts list.

Thanks,
Dani

2015-12-31 Thread Marie BAISEZ
When I select a song in My Music, I can see a share option,
double-tapping this I get the choices: by Air Drop, by message or Email,
I tried the last 2 and can't get the file containing the song to appear
as an attachment
to the mail or IMessage. What am I doing wrong?Any help very much

Re: Answering a telephone call while you are already talking to another caller on your iphone

2015-12-31 Thread Bill Gallik
Concerning this thread, I’m not sure how any of this is possible when VoiceOver
seemingly locks up in iOS 9.2 as is happening whenever I’m on a phone call. If
anyone can offer a suggestion to eliminate this terribly annoying occurrence I
would sincerely appreciate said advice!

Re: Program for Personal Finances

2015-12-31 Thread Bill Gallik
It is true that many financial institutions do offer a tailored iOS app for
customers using iDevices, but not all such apps are accessible via VoiceOver.
My personal experience with BMO-Harris has been nothing short of an
accessibility nightmare! And this is not limited to the iOS app but includes
attempting to use the web site to pay bills online. As many times as I’ve
contacted technical support and gone so far to contact their public relations
office, the continual answer is a promise that thise will be addressed some
time next year.

Re: unread only in native mail app?

2015-12-31 Thread Gordan Radić

You can't change the view of native app to show only unread
messages, it couldn't be done in earlier iOS versions.
You can, however, open the Edit options in the app and turn on
'Unread' folder where you can see only unread messages from all
accounts.

Podcasts Again

2015-12-31 Thread Gary Petraccaro
I'm still using iTunes version 12.2 and I download podcasts for listening to on
my Stream. Now they're all saying "inactive". I searched on Google for a way
to make the casts active but couldn't find anything that looked as if it might
have applied to version 12 anything. Does anyone have an idea how to change
this back to active for my podcasts?
Thanks.
