Bluetooth and lightning connect keyboard, IPhone 6.

2016-02-05 Thread Dianne B. Phelps
Hello, Friends,

I have an IPhone 6, running the latest version of IOS 9. I also use either a
Bluetooth and a lightning connected keyboard. Just before I did the latest
update, My keyboards both started producing double letters or gibberish.

I had advice to make sure the batteries in the Bluetooth keyboard were not
worn out. That made absolutely no difference in the situation, and the
problem persists with the lightning connected keyboard. I shut off and
rebooted the phone which worked a couple of times and even tried a reset
when the above reboot did not change the problem.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this, and if so, how were you able
to correct this?

I am mostly using a Microsoft Wedge keyboard which I love because the touch
is quite solid, and it can be tossed in my bag for use on the run.

The lightning-connect keyboard is much too big to carry.

Another thing I have tried was to turn Voiceover off and then back on which
did little to help the problem.

Unfortunately, I am not comfortable with typing on a flat surface and would
really like to solve my problem. I have had three IPhone and have never seen
this issue before. I am having to turn off my phone and reboot every day
this past week which I have never had to do before.

Sorry this is so long, but I would appreciate any suggestions someone might
be able to offer.

Thank you so much for your help. I do hope this finds everyone doing well.

Sending happy smiles,

Dianne B. Phelps,

Napa, California

I love the mophie cases. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to use
their silly adapter to use the Apple earpods.

Scott, it is the 1 byone 3100 for IPhone 6 and 6 plus. The review for this was
on Applevis written by Scott Davert, pardon if I spelled his name incorrectly.
It looks like from review that you can get a whole extra charge from the case.
Will let everyone know how that goes. I just found the battery case button so I
imagine it is not charged as I did not see the button when I charged my phone.
Really great price on Amazon of 34 dollars. With this I bought the keys-to-go
IOS keyboard with buttons across the top which allow touch to do some of the
things you do every day with your phone such as a key to open the app switcher
and keys to turn volume down and up and a home screen key. I received the case
today, but I am still awaiting the keyboard. Both items are reviewed on
Applevis under accessories with the case on page 1 and keyboard on page 2. Hope
this helps someone, probably more than you wanted to know! [smiles)

This is interesting. I bought a battery case for my 6s so I could have extra
battery life. When it arrived today there was a cord for charging, lightning
plug on one end and USB on the other. Along with this came a short cord with a
earphone end on one end that did not fit my earphone jack and a earphone jack
on the other that did fit earphones. So, what I believe is that as we buy new
equipment the adapters are being put in the package which means Apple is really
doing away with the 3.5, may have that incorrect, and going to a smaller
headphone jack. A friend said all this is being done to standardize all phones
to one standard. So, I have an adapter unless someone can tell me what else
that tiny cord could be used for. By the way, I have a battery case. Does it
charge with the phone or do I need to turn it on? Does
it automatically use charged battery in the case? Thanks for any thoughts and
information.

That or you could just after importing into iTunes, reclassify the audiobook
in question as an audiobook in the get info tagging feature. Haven't done it in
a while, but I believe you can choose between music, audiobook, podcast, etc.
Then, the files will be sorted in the proper place.

RE: Converting an Audio Book

2016-02-05 Thread Donald Moore
If your book is on a Windows computer the freeware program mp3 to iPod
audiobook converter is accessible and fairly easy to use. Not only will it
convert the files, but if you want it to, it will make the book one file and
allow you to edit the annotations.

What is the brand name of the battery case? How many hours in the battery case?

Hi!
Well, it's still not known will the 3.5 mm jack be replaced with the universal
Lightning port. This is still a rummor and has to be treated in that manor.
As Sieghard stated, the room is not the reason for this because newer iPod
Touch (5 and 6G) are significantly thinner than the iPhones and if Apple can
implement the 3.5 mm jack in there it certainly can do that in the possibly
thinner iPhones 7 and later.
Besides that, Apple is a smart company and they are certainly aware the 3.5 mm
jack is worldwide universal standard and it would be a large drawback in the
usability of the phone to force the users to use different standard and to
adjust all audio ecquipment they already have to the new Lightning standard.
Remember, some years ago all phone manufacturers had unique connection
standards for their devices so you couldn't use Samsung handsfree on Motorola,
first Nokia Symbian models also had an ugly and large connectors which took
minutes to plug and it all went down the river, suddenly all pones got the
standard 3.5 mm with exception of few Nokia phones which used 2.5 mm standard.
However, technology moves in misterious ways and whatever we think about it it
could happen anyway but I strongly doubt it will. I'm more concerned about
dismissing the physical Home button but that is a different story.

I am not necessarily saying it’s a good thing. Just as you, I can’t speak from
the perspective of somebody who is hearing impaired and if there are major
drawbacks then it’s not a good thing. Unfortunately a lot of sources and
Podcasters who do iPhone related Podcasts seem to think that it is more and
more likely the 3.5mm jack will be gone on the iPhone 7.

Sieghard, do you think this is a good thing? I don't. Having never had a
hearing impairment, though, I can't personally judge the effects, but it is
Jonathan Mosen says that there are problems using Bluetooth thing for someone
who has a hearing impairment, I trust him. If I remember correctly, the issues
he mentioned have to do with lag. I already don't like the lag over Bluetooth,
and can imagine how frustrating that is for someone who's hearing, as well as
visually, impaired. Also, I wouldn't want to have to carry a lightning to 3.5
MM adapter around with me, just to make whatever lightning said Apple puts out,
if they do end up using the lightning Jack for a wired connection, compatible
with other devices. It's one more thing for me to carry around and potentially
lose, or forget in the wrong purse, and be stuck using my computer without
headphones.

Thanks,

Ari

2016-02-05 Thread Aedan
Hi, if you use a PC foobar2000 will convert mp3s to a single m4a. When
you're saving the file you can change the extension to m4b which will
make iTunes see it as an audio book. If all the files are tagged
properly you can also drop them into the automatically added, then
search music for the album name, press get info on the album and under
options change the media kind to audio book.

Re: Adding selected playlists to an iPhone using iTunes on windows seven

2016-02-05 Thread Mary Otten
Thank you, Sieghard. For the next obvious question, in case he asks, how would
you get from the music library section to that device section. And wouldn't you
have to be in the device section to select the sink manually and sync selected
playlists items?

Hello list

In earlier versions of iTunes I could select to play music on the pc or via the
apple airport express through my hifi. Is that option no longer available? I do
not see any button where I can do airplay.

RE: Both seri and dictation?

2016-02-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You can just leave it alone and it will probably sort itself out or you can try
to do a Reset Network settings which may also sort it out.
If you choose to try the Reset Network Settings you will have to reconnect to
your WiFi and if you renamed your phone from the default "iPhone" to something
including your name you will have to go to Settings > General > About and
rename it. Otherwise nothing else changes when you do this.

his iPhone. In iTunes, he has selected the button for syncing selected

when he presses the space bar on one, the playlist begins to play rather than

How do you select playlists under this set up? I have a Mac and have not used
iTunes for windows, so I have no clue.

RE: Both seri and dictation?

2016-02-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
What exactly is happening when you try to use SIRI? Do you not hear the tones
at all or does it play the listening tones directly followed by the tones
indicating it stopped listening? Does SIRI sayanything like "Sorry, Something
seems to be wrong"?
As for dictation, if you are in an edit field, is the dictate button to the
left of the spacebar dimmed?

RE: New post published iPhone 7 with no headphone jack at all?

2016-02-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The fact that the 3.5mm jack is a standard definitely will not cause Apple to
keep it if they want to change it. Apple has always done what they wanted, why
otherwise did they use a 30-Pin connector and now the Lightning port instead of
Mini or Micro USB? On their computers they had their Firewire and later
Thunderbolt when the rest of the industry adopted USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and other
display port technologies. Only recently Apple seems to come back to a standard
which most likely will be next with computers and that is USB C.

If they do get rid of the 3.5mm jack and sell a number of Lightning headsets
both basic and high-end through their Beats Headset company then of course a
lot of other manufacturers who produce periferals will follow and I assume they
have to pay Apple a small licencing fee for every Lightning headset or every
3.5mm to Lightning adapter produced. Considering how many tens of millions of
devices we are talking about here, this does add up and it’s easy money for
Apple.

Sieghard

Re: New post published iPhone 7 with no headphone jack at all?

2016-02-05 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
Well, it's still not known will the 3.5 mm jack be replaced with the
universal Lightning port. This is still a rummor and has to be
treated in that manor.
As Sieghard stated, the room is not the reason for this because
newer iPod Touch (5 and 6G) are significantly thinner than the
iPhones and if Apple can implement the 3.5 mm jack in there it
certainly can do that in the possibly thinner iPhones 7 and later.
Besides that, Apple is a smart company and they are certainly aware
the 3.5 mm jack is worldwide universal standard and it would be a
large drawback in the usability of the phone to force the users to
use different standard and to adjust all audio ecquipment they
already have to the new Lightning standard. Remember, some years ago
all phone manufacturers had unique connection standards for their
devices so you couldn't use Samsung handsfree on Motorola, first
Nokia Symbian models also had an ugly and large connectors which
took minutes to plug and it all went down the river, suddenly all
pones got the standard 3.5 mm with exception of few Nokia phones
which used 2.5 mm standard.
However, technology moves in misterious ways and whatever we think
about it it could happen anyway but I strongly doubt it will. I'm
more concerned about dismissing the physical Home button but that is
a different story.

I
am not necessarily saying it’s a good thing. Just as you,
I can’t speak from the perspective of somebody who is
hearing impaired and if there are major drawbacks then
it’s not a good thing. Unfortunately a lot of sources and
Podcasters who do iPhone related Podcasts seem to think
that it is more and more likely the 3.5mm jack will be
  gone on the iPhone 7.

Sieghard, do you think this is
a good thing? I don't. Having never had a hearing
impairment, though, I can't personally judge the
effects, but it is Jonathan Mosen says that there are
problems using Bluetooth thing for someone who has a
hearing impairment, I trust him. If I remember
correctly, the issues he mentioned have to do with lag.
I already don't like the lag over Bluetooth, and can
imagine how frustrating that is for someone who's
hearing, as well as visually, impaired. Also, I wouldn't
want to have to carry a lightning to 3.5 MM adapter
around with me, just to make whatever lightning said
Apple puts out, if they do end up using the lightning
Jack for a wired connection, compatible with other
devices. It's one more thing for me to carry around and
potentially lose, or forget in the wrong purse, and be
stuck using my computer without headphones.

  Thanks,

  Ari
