Thanks. The problem seems to be something to do with LTE versus Wi-Fi. I turned
on Wi-Fi when I got within range, and it is working. They still haven't fixed
the voiceless links problem. Thank you Facebook accessibility. But at least the
app isn't blank anymore.

Re: Facebook blank

2016-10-07 Thread Shai
Hello Mary,
I just downloaded the Facebook app update and tried it. I am not
having any issues with accessing the Newsfeed when the app is opened.
I would suggest quitting the app in the switcher and restarting it.
The lack of VoiceOver reading shared link titles when flicking across
status posts and events not reading still remain for me.

Restoring an older version of an app

2016-10-07 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi All,

I'm trying to restore an older version of an app from a backup and I'm
having some problems. First I deleted the app from my phone. Then I
deleted the app from the mobile applications subfolder and replaced it
with the version from my backup. The problem occurs when I try to
install the app within iTunes. I can see the app and it has an install
button which I pressed. But when I sync the phone I get a message
saying the app was not installed because it could not be found.

I checked the mobile applications folder and the app is definitely
there. So I'm stumped. Anyone have any thoughts?

Insight Timer is a great app and I would hate to lose it. It's just
the newest version is much more difficult to use with VO.

Thanks for any help.

The Fit Bit app is accessible, although you may need sighted help during the
set up. The devices themselves are not accessible, but I can do most everything
through the app. For example, I can set alarms on my Charge HR through the app.
I can get the statistics from my Charge HR into my ap. I can also press the
button on my Charge HR when I start and exercise and press it again when I'm
done exercising. The band will vibrate a bit to let me know it's starting and
stopping to track my exercising. I also have alarms turned on, so when my phone
rings, my Charge HR will vibrate. Finally, my Charge HR will vibrate when I
reach my step limit each day.

Facebook blank

2016-10-07 Thread Mary Otten
Earlier today, I downloaded an update for Facebook. I was hoping that this
update would fix the problem where voiceover is not reading the title of links
that people include when they post messages. Not only was that not fixed
apparently, now I'm not getting anything at all. All I'm getting our network
errors. Maybe there is some kind of big outage. I hope that's what it is,
rather than the Facebook app having been well and truly broken. I suppose it
might have to do with the stuff going on the East Coast with all that mess in
the hurricane. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing Facebook
connectivity problems.

For those of you who have been thinking about an appleTV4, the 64GB model is on
sale at sams club for only 148 bucks. You must be a member obviously but that
is a steel since it is normally 200. I don’t know if they sell the 32GB model,
but if I didn’t already have 2, I would grab it.

Re: Speech on apple watch

2016-10-07 Thread Chris Chaffin

No, you can not transfer what voice over is saying from the watch to your
phone. So no, you can not listen by wired headphones hooked to your phone.
Yes, your watch and phone are connected by bluetooth.
The watch does have bluetooth capability, so you can connect bluetooth
headphones directly to your watch if you want.

Re: Simple voice recorder for the iPad?

2016-10-07 Thread Alan Lemly
Tom,

That's exactly what Dropvox does based on my understanding. It keeps the
recording on your device until it has access to WiFi or cellular data to upload
it to Dropbox. It's been a while since I've reviewed its settings but checking
them is always wise when using a new app.

Re: adt alarm app

2016-10-07 Thread Paul Hunt
I agree although I don't spend lots of time with the app. I use it to disarm my
security panel just before I get home. I can also arm it if I forget to do it
before I leave home.

No idea why some get installed automatically.

Kimber,

I like the Dropvox app by Irradiated Software. That's like Dropbox but with a v
instead of a b. This app is basic, records in mp3 format, and saves directly to
your Dropbox folders for easy access across multiple apps.

Subject: Simple voice recorder for the iPad?

Hi all,

I need to record an hour long class and I'm looking for an easy-to-use voice
recorder for my iPad. I don't need to edit the recording or send it anywhere,
so it doesn't need tons of features. In fact, the simpler the better.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Speech on apple watch

2016-10-07 Thread Terje Strømberg
Hi,

Is it possible to route the apple watch voice over speech to iPhone? If you do
something on the watch you will here it on the iPhone, or through the
headphones connected via 3.5mm headphone jack on iPhone 5SE for example.

Is it bluetooth connection that pair the apple watch with the iPhone?

Take care
