I know this has been discussed out here, but I can't remember how to
pause and resume recording in recup. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: question about paying off my cell phone

2017-04-17 Thread Joseph Hudson
Hello Casey, yes the information you're describing is very correct. Once you
switch today carrier, you will only get a bill from that carrier. As far as
being locked to another carrier that will not happen. The only time that you
would be locked to a carrier, is if you bought another phone to that carrier,
and then they I Have it locked to their network. But there again, once it's
paid off, then you can feel free to ask that particular carrier to unlock it. I
hope this helps you.

RE: question about paying off my cell phone

2017-04-17 Thread Casey
Hi again okay so now then if I would say have it unlocked and then go to us
cellular then they would put the new sim card in.
Then would I get A bill from them then?
Also then they wouldn't have to lock my phone after they put that new sim card
in it would they?
Or is all the unlocking does is once you have your phone paid off.
And your provider unlocks it.
Then does that mean that you can just take your phone to whatever provider you
like and just get the card for their service and not have to purchase A phone
threw them.
But as I asked before once you would get to that new provider and they
installed that new sim card then is your phone locked again with the new
provider or how exactly does that work?

RE: iTunes and Wrongly Tagged Audio Files

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Jonathan Mosen did one but it was for I Tunes 11 and while a few things may
still apply a lot of it is also outdated by now.
If you want to check it out it was a two-part series as part of the FS Casts
from Freedom Scientific.
Basically, if you want to edit using iTunes once you are on the song you want
to do press Control+I, then tab until you get to the edit field for song name,
artist, album etc. Just keep in mind that they don’t read that well right now,
at first it may appear the field is empty, but if you press the home key to go
to the start of the line and then do a say line with Jaws it will read what is
there and you can delete it and type something else or edit it, when you are
done tab to OK and activate.

Sieghard

Thanks Sieghard.
Rather than asking you for more instructions, I would only ask if you know a
good iTunes tutorial aimed particularly at people using screen readers. The
reason is, I have no idea how to edit tags in iTunes, or delete anything from
the stuff I imported. Some folders got imported that I want to get removed, and
I don’t see any way of doing that either right now.
So any good tutorial would probably cover that kind of thing, and other stuff
that I would probably find useful.
Thanks for any info.

I would use iTunes to edit the tags, with compellation albums it’s OK and
actually a good thing to have the artist name in the artist name field, but
make sure you put “Various Artists” in the field for Album Artist and then
further down as you tab through the options there is a checkbox which says
“Album is a compellation” or something like that. Make sure you check it and
then these kinds of albums show up as compellation albums in the artist column
if you use the column browser, but if you select the artist of a particular
song and you have, for example, also another album by that artist you still see
all songs by that artist.
I don’t know how much music you have, but even though it may take a lot of time
to fix all of this it is in the end worth it.

Subject: iTunes and Wrongly Tagged Audio Files

Hey Guys,
I have a bit of a mess on my hands. I didn’t intend it, but I accidentally
imported my entire music collection into iTunes. On the one hand, it is
convenient in that, to transfer music to my iPad Mini, I just go through the
list of albums and check off the items I want to transfer. Unfortunately, in
the process of going through that long list, I’ve discovered that some of the
albums are tagged incorrectly. And, as a consequence, the library is a mess.
For example, for a Various Artists collection, if there’s nothing in the Album
Artist tag, then iTunes lists the album under each individual artist that’s on
the album. Which means that I can’t transfer the entire album, as an album, to
my iPad as I would like to be able to do, but rather have to transfer each
track separately, which I don’t want to do.
So, if I retag these improperly tagged albums correctly, do I just add them to
the iTunes library manually? Since they’re already imported, will it remove the
other files, or do I have to do that manually? If I have to remove the wrongly
tagged stuff manually, I don’t see any way of doing that at the moment, so I’d
be grateful for any help with that.
Thanks for any advice on this.
Whatever the case, it looks like I’m in for quite a bit of work as it appears
that a good many of these need fixing.

your number to the new SIM. I have had my cell number for 20 years now and
whenever I switch providers I just port it to the new provider because of
course everybody has my number and I don't want to change it.
Here in Canada you can request to have your phone unlocked once you are 3
months into your contract and as long as you pay your bill on time. This is
important if you travel where you may go to europe or asia where you want to
get a local SIM, of course if you switched to a cheaper provider 3 months into
your 2 year contract your original carrier would come after you. I don't even
know why carriers still bother with locked phones, it's not like you can buy a
cheaper phone on contract and then switch to a cheaper provider because as I
said the original carrier can then simply charge you the penelty equal to
whatever is left to pay on the phone.

I found a review and podcast concerning the QardioArm on
www.applevis.com
The list price is $99, but it can be had via Amazon for $93, which puts it
within the price range of similar talking models through vendors like Maxi Aids.

it is an upper arm cuff attached to a unit that communicates via bluetooth with
an ap that runs on either IOS or Android.

It measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and keeps a log that can be
exported to Health kit, Emailed to your doctor, etc. The reviews on Amazon are
truly a mixed bag. some say it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but
there are many negative reviews, saying that it is difficult to pair, battery
life sucks, and readings can be eratic. Some folks said that they had to have
the unit replaced once or even twice to get one that worked properly. What is
interesting is that the unit apparently was introduced in 2014. The positive
reviews were generally dated in 2014 and 2015 and the negative reviews were
dated in 2016 and 2017. Go figure!

Hi Caitlyn,

This thread is perfect timing. Is set up accessible? This being an arm cuff,
is it possible to take your own blood pressure? Currently, we have the wrist
model. Can multiple people use the device, and does it connect up to health

Thank you, I am looking to update our blood pressure monitor.

Anyway, this is a cuff that you put on your arm, and it connects via bluetooth
to your i phone. There is an app for it, and this is where you control the
cuff and get the results from each measurement.

FyI, they also have a body weight scale, and it also measures body fat

these devices fully accessible. We own both of them here, and love both!

You can find them on amazon.

RE: Sinking to iPhone

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Are you in the library area or the device area when you do this?
You must have your iPhone connected and activate the "iPhone" button. It's easy
to find, after you open iTunes just press Control+F for "Find", this will put
you n the search/find edit field, now tab a few times and if you riPhone is
connected you will find the button easy enough.
After you activate it tab a few times and you get to a treeview which starts
with "Summary". In this treeview arrow down to Tones or press "t". When you are
there tab and you get to a checkbox which says "Sync tones", make sure you
check it, then tab again and you get to either "Sync all tones" or "Sync
selected tones".
If you want to sync all the tones you have then just check to sync all tones,
then tab to "Apply" or just go to the File menu, press "v" for Devices and
select Sync.
If you want to sync selected tones then check that, tab some more and you get
to a listview of all the tones you have, you can arrow down that list and check
the tones you want simply by pressing the spacebar on each tone you want. When
you are done again tab to Apply and activate or sync via the file menu.

Hello everyone,

Ok, thanks to wonderful help, I have figured out how to add stuff to my
library, as well as delete stuff. So I really appreciate this.

However, I now have another issue that I could really use help with.

I have added some ringtones to my library. It shows they are there, and
tones is checked.

But I can't seem to select them all, and get them to sink. I don't know
what to do. I've tried selecting them, but this doesn't work. Then I
have just put the cursor on 1 ringtone. But this doesn't seem to work
either..

Every time I go to the option to sink, it's unavailable.

So what the heck am I possibly doing wrong? Can anyone help me, please?

By the way, the extention for the ringtone is correct.

Any help would be so appreciated. I am frustrated!

Thank you,

Terri

RE: iTunes and Wrongly Tagged Audio Files

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Evan

How To Stop Those Annoying, Endless Robocalls To Your Smartphone, USA Today

2017-04-17 Thread M. Taylor

I hope you find the following article helpful.

HOW TO STOP THOSE ANNOYING, ENDLESS ROBOCALLS TO YOUR SMARTPHONE
By Jennifer Jolly, Special for USA Today.

Have you noticed an uptick in those super annoying robocalls, telemarketers,
and scams hitting up your smartphone all hours of the day and night? I have,
and it's driving me nuts. Last month, I had a bogus call to lower my
electricity bill. A few weeks ago, it was a pause after I said hello, then a
woman saying, 'Oh, I'm sorry, I'm adjusting my headset,' before launching
into a sales pitch of some sort. And then there's the daily deluge of
numbers that look legit ' like my daughter's school calling, or a media
outlet from Manhattan ' only to end up being an obvious scam. This is George
Michael,' says a male caller with a heavy accent, 'calling from your online
pharmacy with your diet medication. Talk about adding insult to injury.
According to the Federal Communications Commission , there are nearly 2.4
billion robocalls made every month. That's more than 7'calls per person,
according to new research from the YouMail Robocall Index. At best, the
calls are frustrating. At worst, they're robbing us blind . So what can we
do about it once and for all? Let's start with a little self-education. How
the heck are these criminal-callers getting our cell numbers in the first
place? If you don't post it publicly across social media, use it on shady
shopping sites, or shout it out to every telemarketer who calls ' how is it
getting out there? The Better Business Bureau recommends Googling your own
number. Do it. I'll wait. Was it there? Mine was. It might not be alongside
your name, but chances are it's there, collected by a 'people search'
company like Nuwber that aggregates information from 'White Pages listings,
Public Records and Social Network Information. Thanks to modern technology,
these lists are now easy for cyber scammers to scrape. 'And that's how the
the robo-games begin. Related: Putting your number in the Do Not Call
registry is one step to blocking robocalls. (Photo: Jennifer Jolly for USA
TODAY.) If you haven't already, add your cell number to the National Do Not
Call list . I just went there to verify that I'm on the list and sure
enough, I've been registered since February 2006. So much for that.
Obviously, it doesn't fix the issue all the way around, but it does help
keep legitimate companies from cold-calling you. Sadly for us, the bad-guys
have easy workarounds (like #1). If you're already on the Do Not Call
Registry and still get hit up, report the calls to the FTC , which compiles
the reports and hands out the fines. You can also block them right from your
smartphone and block any spammy texts too. Here's where to block calls on
your iPhone. (Photo: Jennifer Jolly for USA TODAY) On iPhones , tap the
green phone icon on your home screen, select the 'Recents' tab on the bottom
of the screen, then tap the blue 'i' information icon next to the phone
number you want to block. A screen pops up with a bunch of options and at
the very bottom you'll find 'Block This Caller. Tap it and then when the
verification screen appears, confirm your decision. On most Androids , there
are two easy ways to block numbers. If you're on the standard version of
Android 6.0 you can go into your call log and long-press on the number you
want to block, then select 'Block number' from the pop-up menu. If you're
using a version of Android other than the stock version (or if you don't
know which version you're actually using) you can select 'Settings' and then
'Call blocking,' then tap 'Add number' and type in the number you want to
block. Blocked calls on my iPhone using Nomorobo. (Photo: Jennifer Jolly/USA
TODAY) There are a handful of apps that promise enough anti-spam ammo to
stop annoying calls for good. They all require a bit of set-up, but the
toughest part of that so far for me has just been remembering my AT
password. (You'll need the provider password for some of them.) Nomorobo -
(iOS) This is my best of these apps I've reviewed to date ' so it's no
surprise that it won a competition by the FTC . After you download the app
onto your device, you can sign up for a free trial for 30-days, or commit
right away to either $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year. (If you don't
remember to cancel your sign-up, you'll be auto-billed.) After you install
the app, it prompts go into your iPhone's settings, select 'Phone' then tap
'Call Blocking & Identification' and tap Nomorobo to enable it. Back in the
Nomorobo app, it asks you to enter your phone number for verification (to
make sure you're not a robocaller yourself). After that ' you're done. You
can send yourself a test robocall to see exactly how it all works. When a
sketchy telemarketer hits up your phone number, your call screen shows a big
red dot and a note that says 'Robocaller' so you know to avoid it. There's
even an option in the app to block these calls automatically, before they

QardioArm integrates with Apple Health and supports Apple Watch.

You can connect it to 8 smart phones and tablets including both iOS and Android

I did a podcast on www.applevis.com a couple of years ago. There you can find

Sinking to iPhone

2017-04-17 Thread Terri Stimmel

Thank you,

question about paying off my cell phone

2017-04-17 Thread Casey
Hi I have my phone threw A t and T.

Now I have A bit left to pay on it.

Now once I go threw them and pay the phone off.

Can they unlock it after that?

I am going to stay with them but can the phone still be unlocked and be used
with anyone then or do I have to stay with A t and T and then go somewhere
else after the phone is unlocked and my time with A t and T is up?

iTunes and Wrongly Tagged Audio Files

2017-04-17 Thread Evan Reese
Hey Guys,
I have a bit of a mess on my hands.
Evan

Here are just a few bullet points from the www.getqardio.com web site:

QardioArm integrates with Apple Health and supports Apple Watch.

You can connect it to 8 smart phones and tablets including both iOS and
Android devices.

I did a podcast on www.applevis.com a couple of years ago. There you can

  Hi Caitlyn,

This thread is perfect timing. Is set up accessible? This being an arm
cuff, is it possible to take your own blood pressure? Currently, we have the
wrist model. Can multiple people use the device, and does it connect up to
health kit on the iPhones?

Thank you, I am looking to update our blood pressure monitor.

Re: Measuring Blood Pressure

2017-04-17 Thread Andy Baracco
I found a review and podcast concerning the QardioArm on www.applevis.com

Go figure!

Hello All,
Today I am selling on behalf of my dad the apple watch first

condition thanks to it having been hardly used. It comes supplied with
its original charger and box. Asking for £170, but open to reasonable
offers. Any questions can be emailed to:

Thanks for reading.

Bluetooth keyboard with num pad

2017-04-17 Thread candyrlowe
Hello everyone,
I know that there is a bluetooth keyboard that has a numpad and can be paired
with a number of devices at one time. I can not remember the name or brand.
If someone would be so kind as to refresh my memory, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Measuring Blood Pressure

2017-04-17 Thread Rob
Here are just a few bullet points from the www.getqardio.com web site:

QardioArm integrates with Apple Health and supports Apple Watch.

You can connect it to 8 smart phones and tablets including both iOS and Android
devices.

I did a podcast on www.applevis.com a couple of years ago. There you can find
the app description and podcast.

Hi Caitlyn,

This thread is perfect timing. Is set up accessible? This being an arm cuff,
is it possible to take your own blood pressure? Currently, we have the wrist
model. Can multiple people use the device, and does it connect up to health
kit on the iPhones?

Thank you, I am looking to update our blood pressure monitor.

FyI, they also have a body weight scale, and it also measures body fat

RE: Adding items to Itunes library, as well as removing items

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You can just delete the songs, not sure if you can remove entire albums, but I
assume you could use the column browser to show only the songs from one album,
select all and press delete.

Hi Sieghard,
So, if I import folders, such as albums, into iTunes, but later decide that I
didn't want some of them, how do I remove them?
I don't see any way of doing that, but I'm still learning how to use it.
Thanks.

Subject: RE: Adding items to Itunes library, as well as removing items

I don't know what version you have, but you should upgrade to the latest
version, I am not even sure if 10.3 let's you use older versions. Anyhow,
iTunes used to be much less accessible a few versions ago and this has greatly
improved again.

You can't use or create folders in iTunes. iTunes strictly uses ID3 tags of the
files you add, e.g. music files if you rip them or download them usually have
information as to the music genre, artist name, song name, what album it is
from and so on. iTunes uses this information and not whether you put a song
into a folder from the artist and a subfolder for the correct album.
Similarly, iTunes sorts files with different file extensions into their proper
libraries. MP3 or M4A files are treated as music files and hence are
automatically added to the music library when you import them into iTunes.
If you have ringtones they must be converted to M4A format and then the
extension must be changed to M4R, this is what will tell iTunes that the file
is to be treated as a ringtone and not as a simple music file.
Similarly, audio books have the M4B format and videos in turn can have various
formats as well.
It doesn't really matter where on your hard drive or external drive you keep
the files, of course if they are on an external drive and you add them to
iTunes they will only be available if the drive is connected. Think of the
iTunes library as a folder like you rdesktop which typically doesn't actually
contain files or programs but shortcuts that point to said programs. In the
same way the songs or ringtones you see in your iTunes library are simply
shortcuts which point to the location where the actual file is stored and if
you add a file to your library and then physically go to the folder where the
file is and move it to a different folder you end up with a broken link in
iTunes, the song will still be there, but it can't play any more because there
is no more file in the location the link points to.
The easiest way to add many files to an iTunes library is to put them in a
folder where you want to keep them permanently, then open iTunes, go to the
File menu, arrow down a few times until you get to "Add Folder to Library",
press enter and then browse to the folder where you keep the files and, tab to
the select button and activate it. If you had a thousand songs in that folder
they will now all get added to your music library.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Adding items to Itunes library, as well as removing items

Hello everyone,

Ok, I am not the smartest, when it comes to using iTunes. I actually can not
stand the program, and wish I could add certain things differently.
Such as ringtones.

I actually upload audiobooks and other things, using Dropbox, and I honestly
prefer this method.

However, with this big discussion about ringtones, and such, I would
like to learn more, if possible.

I used to know a little on how to use iTunes. But I haven't done it in
so long now, I just can't remember.

I do not have the latest version. It does ask me to update, but I don't.

However, if the latest version would be more accessible with windows 7,
and Jaws 17, or even NVDA, then I would do it.

So I would appreciate thoughts and opinions on this.

Ok, how do I go about adding stuff to my iTunes library?

And how do I even find the library?

Also, can I make folders within the library?

Such as, if I wanted to put a folder for ringtones, in a certain folder,
under music? Or something like that?

Also, when I view iTunes, like I did today. I played a file that needed
to use iTunes. It showed all this stuff. I was really shocked, because I
never played these files within iTunes. Or I certainly don't remember
doing so. They were all mp3 files. Parts, or whole audiobooks, audio
movies, certain episodes of audio TV shows, and even music. It was
really strange seeing all of this.

So how would I go about removing all

RE: Measuring Blood Pressure

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes to all and Qardio is not the only one, Withings and other companies also
make blood pressure monitors.
. I decided to go with Withings for the scale since it gets much better reviews
than the Qardio and if I remember correctly it was also less expensive. It also
does all the measurements such as body fat, bone mass, body mass index and so
on and it also sends this to the Health app if you set it up.

Sieghard

RE: missing apps in settings

2017-04-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am also totally blind, but keep in mind, it's only silent for 15 or 20
seconds, once Voiceover is on and if it's on when you shut down I never
experienced Voiceover not being there when the phone rebooted. It's like
turning a computer off, when you turn it back on there is no speech until
Windows boots up, either. If you are worried you can always plug it in first or
plug it in as I described after you turn it off as this will turn it back on
and when the iPhone is plugged in there is also a short vibrate just before
Voiceover comes back on.

Re: Measuring Blood Pressure

2017-04-17 Thread Traci Duncan

Hey Guys,

I really like my Pandora stations that I listen to using Hope for
Pandora on my laptop. I decided that I would like to get the Pandora app
for my iPad Mini 4 so I could take it out into the yard and not have to
lug my laptop out there.
Since I already had an account, I got all my stations when I logged in.
Unfortunately, I guess I’m spoiled by the version of Pandora I get when
I use Hope on my laptop, so I’m not sure I’m going to keep this app.
Firstly, it plays ads every two or three songs, which I don’t get with
Hope.
Secondly, it doesn’t sound as good.
Thirdly, if I do keep it, I’d like to find the volume control if it has
one because it seems that the music is a good deal softer than my
VoiceOver volume and I’d like to even them up a bit if I can. The Hope
version does have a volume control. But I can’t find any volume control
on this app. There’s a Setting button, but when I double tap it, I can’t
see that it does anything. If it doesn’t have a volume control, then I
may well just delete it, given it’s other drawbacks over the Hope
version, i.e. inferior sound and ads.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Measuring Blood Pressure

2017-04-17 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Sure do.

It’s called the qardio blood pressure moniter. Note the spelling of “qardio”,
it’s with a q a, not the usual spelling.

Anyway, this is a cuff that you put on your arm, and it connects via bluetooth
to your i phone. There is an app for it, and this is where you control the
cuff and get the results from each measurement.

FyI, they also have a body weight scale, and it also measures body fat
percentage. This also connects to the phone via bluetooth. The app makes
these devices fully accessible. We own both of them here, and love both!

You can find them on amazon.

HTH,
Caitlyn
