Hello,

Could you give me the model number for the keyboard? I want to order one, but
don’t want the one with the back light.

Thank you.

When you launch Safari, and whatever it has as the home page, touch at the
top where it says address bar, and double tap with one finger.
It should say editing, flick right with one finger to the clear text button
and double tap.
Then type google.com and double tap on the search button in the bottom right
corner.
Then, and this will answer your question on the home security page as well;
touch in the center of the bottom row where it says "Share button" and
double tap.
then, starting at the bottom flick left with one finger until you get to
"Add to Home screen,” and double tap. You will have an edit box with the
default name that will appear on your home screen. You can accept it or
change it.
Then, double tap the add button in the upper right corner.
You can now start Safari on the google page with that icon instead of just
launching Safari, which will always return to the last page you visited.
HTH,
Richard

Re: Seeking Suggestions for a good iOS Package Tracking App

2017-08-04 Thread christopher hallsworth
Ok, done it, and my thoughts? Very nice! It didn't take me long to purchase
Parceltrack Premium. Seems much easier to forward delivery notifications to
your personal parceltrack inbox. Also enabled push notifications and the like.
Will really test when I add my first delivery.

Right, that's it, I am checking it out. Lol! I currently have Parcel, but feel
the same way, particularly the inexpensive but recurring purchase of a
subscription. Cheers!

RE: Seeking Suggestions for a good iOS Package Tracking App

2017-08-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I also used Parcel, but now have switched to Parcel Track. My reasons are as
follows:

1. While the subscription for Parcel is not expensive, it's just another
recurring purchase. It's $3.99 Canadian a year or $2.99 US, Parcel Track is
exactly the same, but just a one-time purchase.
2. When I first downloaded Parcel Track I added a couple of packages to both
apps and Parcel Track seemed to deliver push notifications about updates quicker
3. Parcel is limited to 100 packages as far as keeping a histopry is concerned,
not a big deal if you don't ship too much or usually delete shipments after
they have arrived. Parcel Track is unlimited.
4. Parcel Track is just as accessible
5. If you wish you can forward ship confirmation emails to a particular email
address which is assigned to you to have them automatically entered into Parcel
Track. This is like what ShipRack used to offer and I don't think Parcel has
this feature.

One thing Parcel Track at this point does not have is an Apple Watch app which
is available for Parcel so if that is important to you, then parcel would be
the app for you.

Best regards,
Sieghard

RE: itunes music folder on a windows pc

2017-08-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If she bought the music from iTunes she can simply redownload it to the new PC,
otherwise she could copy it back into the iTunes folder from a backup. If of
course she does not have a backup and the old PC doesn’t work any more then she
has to redownload it.

RE: Huawei came really close to selling as many phones as Apple - CNET

2017-08-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It would be interesting to see how the 41 million iPhones sold are broken down
by region, e.g. North America, South America, Australia/Ne Zealand, Europe,
Africa, Asia. To me it's not surprising that some of these Chinese
manufacturers sell a ton of phones, we all know that by numbers Android
outsells iOS and let's not forget that China has a population of 1.34 Billion
and India has 1.21 Billion, combined that is 2.55 Billion. All of Africa is
about the same as India with 1.2 Billion and if you count Indonesia and the
Philippines that adds another 340 Million, more than the US. Combined that is
around 4 Billion people which is well above half of the world's population and
while China and India as well as the Philippines and Indonesia have a small but
growing middle class, the majority of the population is poor and there is
simply no way at all that they could afford an iPhone or other high-end
smartphone. The same goes for much of Africa and even south america. These
people don't have post-paid plans with data, unlimited texting and calling and
so on, they have a cheap phone and primarily text. My wife is Filipina and I
know how it works there, you can buy a SIM for less than a Dollar and any
incoming calls are free, otherwise you can buy a bunch of text messages for
very small amounts of money, you can also buy small amounts of data and some
prepaid plans you can buy include unlimited use of certain services such as
Facebook and so on. The majority of people in these countries also don't have
WiFi at home, at best they can go to a mall or other public place and access it
there.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Huawei came really close to selling as many phones as Apple - CNET

CNET News - Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 12:12 AM Huawei came really close to
selling as many phones as Apple - CNET

Huawei's phone sales rose 20 percent year over year in the second quarter.
César Salza/CNET
The gap in global phone sales between Apple and Huawei is smaller than ever.
Apple, the world's No. 2 phone seller by volume, sold 41 million iPhones in the
second quarter. Huawei, the No. 3 global phone brand thanks to its popularity
in China and Europe, sold 38.5 million phones during the same period,
Counterpoint Research said Tuesday.
Huawei's numbers are up 20 percent from the same quarter last year, while
Apple's year-on-year growth was 2 percent. Of course, the Cupertino,
California-based company has little to worry about. Though it sells fewer
phones than Samsung and may eventually fall behind Huawei, it has always topped
profit share. In 2016, Apple accounted for just under 80 percent of all
smartphone profits.
"Apple is the most profitable smartphone brand on the planet with highest brand
equity, however, it is in a conundrum," Counterpoint's Neil Shah told CNET.
Apple is losing ground in China, while brands like Huawei and Oppo are becoming
more popular. "Apple has been losing revenues in China since (the
2014) iPhone 6 (and) 6Plus launch, which was the peak for Apple in China,"
he said.
Oppo and Xiaomi, two other Chinese phone giants, also grew considerably. The
former sold 30.5 million phones in the second quarter, a 33 percent rise, while
the latter's 23.3 million was a 60 percent increase over the prior year.
Samsung is still king though, with 80.4 million in phone sales in the quarter.
LG, its South Korean competitor, sold 13.3 million phones, 600,000 fewer than
in the same quarter last year.
