I just installed Hiya and so far it seems to be very accessible. Let's see how
well it actually works. I get a ton of calls using the neighborhood spoofing
method using the first six digits of my number, so annoying.

Android, The Verge

How to stop annoying robocalls on your iPhone or Android phone By Chris Welch

Mobile spam calls have been a nuisance for years, but over the last few months,
it's felt to me like there's been a surge of them. I get between four and six
calls daily, and a quick survey of friends shows that I'm not alone. Every
waking day brings with it a new barrage. Robocallers have upped their game by
masking their spam with local, genuine-looking phone numbers.
Sometimes their nonsense is amusing - like when you get a threatening voicemail
about your impending arrest over owed back taxes - but the vast majority of the
time, it's an unwelcome distraction. It's all too easy for these scammers to
wield the power of the internet and fire off countless calls with ease. And
once even just a few people fall for a scam, they've made enough profit to
cover their trivial expenses.

Robocalls have become so infuriating that the Federal Trade Commission received
over 375,000 complaints about them every month last year. The agency routinely
says it's doing its best to get a handle on the situation, and yes, there are
occasionally significant crackdowns. But real-world feedback indicates that
things are getting worse - not better - and it's starting to feel a little out
of control.

So if you're as sick as I am of pulling a vibrating phone out of your pocket
only to see a random, suspect number, let's go over the options for fighting
back and restoring some sense of peace.
First, I'll review some definitions since the carriers make important
distinctions between these calls - even if they're all unwelcome and annoying.
Here's how Verizon looks at things:
. Robocallers: Automated, prerecorded phone messages
. Spammers: Unwanted callers that may be calling indiscriminately to a
large number of recipients; sometimes includes callers to whom you've given
consent to contact you
. Fraud calls: An entity likely pretending to be someone they're not
with malicious intent
Option A: Block individual numbers one by one This is probably a hopeless
endeavor if you're aiming to completely eradicate robocalls, but if there's a
particular number that keeps calling, it's fairly easy to block it forever from
your iPhone or Android phone.

On iOS, just go to the Phone app, then your Recents, and tap the blue
information icon to the right of the number you want to block.
For Android, the process isn't much different: go to the Recents section of the
Phone app, long press on the bothersome number, and choose block. On some
Android phones, you'll also be given the option of reporting the number as
spam.

Again, this will take a lot of persistent work on your part to keep the
spammers away - and it's good for absolutely nothing against blocked or private
callers.

Option B: Trust (or pay) your carrier to protect you Most of the major mobile
providers have taken steps to insert themselves as a barrier between you and
these annoying callers. Unfortunately, two of them make you pay an extra
monthly fee for their effort.

AT&T: Call Protect
Available for free for all postpaid customers. Unavailable on prepaid lines.
AT&T has a free app, Call Protect, that's designed to block some fraudulent
robocalls from reaching you, and you won't have to do anything besides install
the software on your phone. It won't completely block spam or telemarketer
calls, however; instead, Call Protect will identify those callers as "Suspected
Spam" when the phone rings and give you the option of blocking their number in
the future. Users can also manually block any numbers they'd like and report
numbers to help improve the database.
The important caveats to know are that Call Protect is only available to
postpaid customers; prepaid customers can't use it at all. And the "Suspected
Spam" feature only works in areas with AT&T HD Voice coverage.
Also, the app is unable to block unknown callers altogether.
Download for iPhone | Download for Android
Sprint: Premium Caller ID ($2.99 / month) If you're willing to add an extra
charge to your monthly bill, Sprint's Premium Caller ID will identify spam
callers and anyone not in your contacts list. It flags robocalls and spammers
and assigns a "threat level" to give you an indication of how suspect the call
might be.
But despite costing a premium, Sprint's solution doesn't automatically block
anything from getting through. You can block future calls from a number or
report it, but the best Premium Caller ID will do is

2018-03-11 Thread Wayne Merritt
For what it's worth, I had the same issue where double tapping on the
collapse video button within a video did nothing. I have been abel to
access the list of recommended videos within a video, but I haven't
been able to get back to the opening YouTube screen which lists all of
the videos you have watched before or they think you would like. The
only way I knew to get back to it was to close and reopen the app,
which is extremely annoying and has cut down on my time in YouTube of
late.

2018-03-11 Thread Wayne Merritt
Maria, I have noticed that there are more blank spaces between videos.
I guess this goes back to the "new design" of YouTube. Also, I was
having issues with the collapse button on an iPhone 7 Plus with latest
version of app, but I deleted and reinstalled it and all appears to be
working now. Crossing fingers, grin.

Thanks for the tip about the Play and Close buttons at the bottom, I
 hadn't
noticed those yet. Collapsing the video for me at least seems pretty
 obvious
because even though it continues playing Voiceover also talks and if
 you
touch the screen you notice you are back on the home screen.

 Hi.

I hope this isn't too long and that it doesn't confuse the issue
 further.

I'm using an iPhone SE with the last released version of iOS 10 with
 YouTube
 13.08 released on March 6th, I believe.

I want to clarify how YouTube works for me now, because it's completely
different as far as video playback is concerned. I wouldn't call it a
 bug,
it's a redesign of the app, I suppose.

In earlier versions double tapping the collapse video actually stopped
 the
video and closed it so you would be back on the home screen, or which
 ever
tab you were in when you started playing the video.

This has changed with the last few updates. Now you can double tap the
collapse video and the video will continue to play. What happens now
 is
that you are returned to the home screen or which ever tab you were in
 when
the video was launched. If you do not have usable vision, it appears as
 if
the collapse button hasn't worked because audio is still playing.

This change threw me off, too, because I cannot see the video, and I
 didn't
realize what was happening. Also, I still have intermittent issues with
 a
two-fingered double tap not resuming playing as it should.

Now to close or reliably resume playback of a video, you need to move to
 the
tabs on the bottom of the screen and swipe left past home. Here there
 is a
close button, a play/pause button, and the title of the currently
 playing
video. Double tapping the close will close the video. double tapping
 the
video title will take you back to the video's main page with the
 regular
 next, actions, description, etc.

Now that I've gotten used to the design it's no big deal, but it can
 still
 be irritating.

If what I've described above isn't the issue some of you are having
 than
I apologize. So far YouTube is working fine for me with the exception
of the change in behavior of the collapse button.

 HTH,

 Lisa

How to stop annoying robocalls on your iPhone or Android phone
By Chris Welch

Mobile spam calls have been a nuisance for years, but over the last few
months, it's felt to me like there's been a surge of them. I get between
four and six calls daily, and a quick survey of friends shows that I'm not
alone. Every waking day brings with it a new barrage. Robocallers have upped
their game by masking their spam with local, genuine-looking phone numbers.
Sometimes their nonsense is amusing - like when you get a threatening
voicemail about your impending arrest over owed back taxes - but the vast
majority of the time, it's an unwelcome distraction. It's all too easy for
these scammers to wield the power of the internet and fire off countless
calls with ease. And once even just a few people fall for a scam, they've
made enough profit to cover their trivial expenses.

Robocalls have become so infuriating that the Federal Trade Commission
received over 375,000 complaints about them every month last year. The
agency routinely says it's doing its best to get a handle on the situation,
and yes, there are occasionally significant crackdowns. But real-world
feedback indicates that things are getting worse - not better - and it's
starting to feel a little out of control.

So if you're as sick as I am of pulling a vibrating phone out of your pocket
only to see a random, suspect number, let's go over the options for fighting
back and restoring some sense of peace.
First, I'll review some definitions since the carriers make important
distinctions between these calls - even if they're all unwelcome and
annoying. Here's how Verizon looks at things:
. Robocallers: Automated, prerecorded phone messages
. Spammers: Unwanted callers that may be calling indiscriminately to a
large number of recipients; sometimes includes callers to whom you've given
consent to contact you
. Fraud calls: An entity likely pretending to be someone they're not
with malicious intent
Option A: Block individual numbers one by one
This is probably a hopeless endeavor if you're aiming to completely
eradicate robocalls, but if there's a particular number that keeps calling,
it's fairly easy to block it forever from your iPhone or Android phone.

On iOS, just go to the Phone app, then your Recents, and tap the blue
information icon to the right of the number you want to block.
For Android, the process isn't much different: go to the Recents section of
the Phone app, long press on the bothersome number, and choose block. On
some Android phones, you'll also be given the option of reporting the number
as spam.

Again, this will take a lot of persistent work on your part to keep the
spammers away - and it's good for absolutely nothing against blocked or
private callers.

Option B: Trust (or pay) your carrier to protect you
Most of the major mobile providers have taken steps to insert themselves as
a barrier between you and these annoying callers. Unfortunately, two of them
make you pay an extra monthly fee for their effort.

AT&T: Call Protect
Available for free for all postpaid customers. Unavailable on prepaid lines.
AT&T has a free app, Call Protect, that's designed to block some fraudulent
robocalls from reaching you, and you won't have to do anything besides
install the software on your phone. It won't completely block spam or
telemarketer calls, however; instead, Call Protect will identify those
callers as "Suspected Spam" when the phone rings and give you the option of
blocking their number in the future. Users can also manually block any
numbers they'd like and report numbers to help improve the database.
The important caveats to know are that Call Protect is only available to
postpaid customers; prepaid customers can't use it at all. And the
"Suspected Spam" feature only works in areas with AT&T HD Voice coverage.
Also, the app is unable to block unknown callers altogether.
Download for iPhone | Download for Android
Sprint: Premium Caller ID ($2.99 / month)

Hello Paula,

You must go to your healthcare providers and ask if they use the MyChart
system. If they do, then they will give you the initial credentials,
necessary, to your first login.

If your healthcare providers do not use MyChart, then you cannot use MyChart;
or rather, you might consider switching to healthcare providers who do use it.

Hello All,

I am delighted to let you know that the MyChart app, for iOS is completely
VoiceOver accessible. From the sign-in screen to reading test results,
VoiceOver users will have total access.

I was using the web browser to access my accounts but, since downloading the
app, I would never consider using the Desktop again.

Just so you know, I strongly suggest that you do not permit the app to access
your location as, apparently, it is a super power hog.

Okay, the app info follows my signature.

On
some Android phones, you'll also be given the option of reporting the number
as spam.

Again, this will take a lot of persistent work on your part to keep the
spammers away - and it's good for absolutely nothing against blocked or
private callers.

And the
"Suspected Spam" feature only w

Hello, just playing around with the Google Assistant app, it looks like you can
ask all of the same questions that you would ask a physical Google Home

Having said that, you definitely need a Google account to make all of this
work.
Not difficult to set up, and of course it is free.

I just took Donna's suggestion now of deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app

entered, even though I typed them on my didisplay.

Has anyone found this and have you come up with a solution?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

RE: Please consider contacting YouTube to report the issues with the latest version 13.08 of their iOS app with Voiceover

2018-03-11 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Mario,

You know what? You're correct.

Yesterday, after reinstalling the YouTube app, all worked as expected. Today,
after rebooting my 8 Plus, the VoiceOver Collapse Video button is no longer
working as expected. This is to say, it is no longer working when VoiceOver is
running. Disable VoiceOver and the button works as expected.

This is most likely an app-specific, hardware device series video display
driver bug; nothing more.

So, just report the bug to YouTube, via the feedback utility from within the
app and/or post a review in the App Store and let it go, for now.

Relax, my friend, enjoy your iPhone 8, and have a great week.

Mark

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app and it works the first
time and then stops working, just like before. I tried deleting and
reinstalling 3 different times. It was driving me crazy and I actually
restored my phone, reinstalled the iOS and still no success. I am using an
iPhone 8 with iOS 11.26.

Hello all,
I just took Donna's suggestion now of deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app
on IOS 11.2.6 and all works as it should. When one double taps on the collapse
button with VoiceOver, the video is paused and the user is returned back to the
home screen.
I do apologize. I will inform other colleagues to do the same and hopefully
their issue will be resolved as well.
Thanks

Yes, it's true.
I didn't have this issue, but now it's real to me.
I will wait for an update, if not get resolved, I'm going to report the
issue.

The following information is important for all mem

when searching for music, not seeing all albums

2018-03-11 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

My friend and I have both noticed something interesting. So I am
wondering if anyone else has discovered this problem.

We've noticed that when looking in Apple music for an artists albums,
Apple music doesn't always show you all the artists albums. Even when
you choose to see all albums.

However, if you know the name of the album you might want, and you
search for it, there it is.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thank you,

Terri
