RE: Ringtone in mp3

2018-08-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Kellly,

The ringtone was in MP3 format, but unlike Simon I had no problems converting
it to M4A using iTunes and then, after renaming the extension to M4R, I pasted
it into my tones list in iTunes and it synced to my phoone where I am currently
using it as a ringtone.

Hi all, how do you send a group direct message to a group of people? I know you
can do it using the native twitter app, but I’m wondering if that’s possible

Re: Brailliant BI14?

2018-08-21 Thread Mary Otten
Well, I am one who is returning the loaner unit that I got. The cloud synch it
is kind of cool. But I just don’t like the unit itself. I think the keyboard is
flimsy feeling. And I’m not satisfied with just 14 cells. It’s too few. That’s
just my opinion. If you have a dealer, they should be willing to lend you
something. Or, I suppose you can get one from humanware and return it within
whenever limitations they have in case you don’t like it. You might love it.
It’s a good idea. It’s just that keyboard is really a drag in my opinion. Your
mileage may vary. The braille is nice and crisp. The touch cursors take getting
used to I prefer the traditional cursor routing buttons to these funky touch
cursors, but that’s just me. Others my love them. I think it something you have
to see and decide for yourself.

Anybody got a Brailliant 14, and how does it work with the phone? I remember

RE: Bluetooth battery life question

2018-08-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I sort of compare turning bluetooth off with letting your car idle at a red
light or shutting down the engine, not enough drain to worry about it.
If I charge my iPhone to 100% so it says “on AC power” and then unplug it say t
10 PM at night, then lock it and don’t use it until 6 in the morning and I
don’t put it in airplane mode with both WiFi and bluetooth on I lose maybe 3 or
4% in those 8 hours. Again, that is with the phone locked and me not using it
at all.
I haven’t tried this with bluetooth off, but what if it makes a 1% or even 2%
difference over 8 hours? If bluetooth isn’t being actually used to play to a
bluetooth headset or speaker, type on a bluetooth keyboard etc. it uses a
totally minimal amount of battery. Now, if you don’t have an Apple Watch, you
hardly ever use a bluetooth keyboard or bluetooth headset or speaker, you never
use Airdrop and so on then sure, why not turn it off and leave it off except
for the occasional time when you may want to use it. But if you end up using it
a few times a day then to me it’s not worth having it turned off.

In IOS 10 and below, when I finished with the Bluetooth I disabled it in
control center. Now though, with IOS 11 Apple did that thing where when you
switch Bluetooth off in the control center, it still remains on. So lately, am
getting a little fed up with: either asking Siri, to turn it off, or settings,
bluetooth, equals off.

Hence why I'm considering just leaving it on but wanted to know if by doing so
has any serious effect on battery life.

Hello all,

I never turn off Bluetooth and do not have any significant issues with battery
drain. Frankly, I think you’re probably drains more battery to constantly keep

Hello Paul,

The accessibility of Kobo has deteriorated in the past couple of years, but I
still manage to read books with it.
Make sure the Transition style is None.
Once the book is open, you can read a whole chapter by doing a two-finger swipe
up. You have to give it time to digest the whole chapter before it starts
reading.
To turn a page, turn VoiceOver off then swipe left with one finger.
To go to next chapter, turn VoiceOver off then swipe left with two fingers.
I find I have to place the focus a little away from the end of the chapter for
the two-finger gesture to work. This is not true for turning a page.
Let me know if you need more help.
Cheers,

Anne

Re: Using Braille input, and locking in tabletop mode

2018-08-21 Thread englishrider91
Terry, having your earpiece to the left won't make anything backward for you.
You may want to go find the Guide to Braille Screen Input on AppleVis. There's
a section or comment in the guide about what to do if your dots do get flipped
around. They explained it better than I could at the moment. I'm rather sleepy.

Anyhow, good luck with this new writing mode for you. It's great.

Also, you don't have to actually have the phone on a table to do tabletop mode.
The way I hold it is to have my thumbs on the back of the phone with the bottom
corners resting on the balls of my fingers, right by my palms. The corners are
usually resting sort of between the pointer and middle fingers. I then tilt the
phone toward me a little. I hope this is making sense.

Thanks,
Ari

Re: does anyone have recent experience, good or bad, with the Kobo Books app?

2018-08-21 Thread Anne Robertson

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Bluetooth battery life question

2018-08-21 Thread Richard Turner

i've never bothered turning off bluetooth as it takes so very little battery it
isn't worth it.
If you do want to turn it off, having Siri do it is most efficient.

Hi all

More often these days, I am finding that I use my bluetooth speaker in which I
currently own two.

The question is: if I leave Bluetooth on all the time, does it really
considerably drain a device's battery considerably or not?

In IOS 10 and below, when I finished with the Bluetooth I disabled it in
control center. Now though, with IOS 11 Apple did that thing where when you
switch Bluetooth off in the control center, it still remains on. So lately, am
getting a little fed up with: either asking Siri, to turn it off, or settings,
bluetooth, equals off.

Hence why I'm considering just leaving it on but wanted to know if by doing so
has any serious effect on battery life.

2018-08-21 Thread Paul Ferrara
There is a book I can’t get on Kindle; Kobo has it.
I bought it, and I can open the book and select a section to read through the
contents page but cannot advance forward or backwards through the book; I
cannot move forward a page or backward.
All feedback is appreciated.
I did put in a request with their help/customer service team.

Thank you.
