Try the blind side podcast and see if that brings it up those podcasts are
going to be few and far between now since Jonathan is doing work with Ira now

  Hi Julie,

  It’s the Blindside podcast.

Now, here’s where I run into the shortcut problem in Tuner Radio pro. As
I said, I had to manually create the station info by putting in the url IP
address and then made it a favorite.

When I go into trying to create the shortcut, I don’t see the station. I
can see one other favorite station, but not this particular one.

  Thanks.

Oh, for the person who wants to just tell Siri to read the newspaper in
NFB newsline. First I think that Newsline would need to support Siri
shortcuts. I stand to be corrected since I’m just learning this new feature.

Even if this would work, you probably would need to be able to point Siri
to the particular section that you would want to read. Just my beginner
thoughts.

I listened to Jonathan's podcast where he discussed Siri shortcuts and

Tuner Radio Pro.

I manually put in a station and made a favorite out of it. I was able

to perform a Siri shortcut for a couple of popular stations. But I'm

stuck on being able to use a shortcut to play this station.

This app rocks by the way. Thanks.

My AT&T app

2018-10-03 Thread Bill Outman
Good morning.

I finally got around to setting up the My AT&T app on my iPhone, as I am
having trouble paying my cell bill by phone as I keep getting disconnected.

I got through the long license agreement and to the point of logging in to
my account. I went to the about screen to find out my log in options, but
couldn't figure how to get to the edit fields from there to get the on
screen keyboard to show up. I want to use my wireless number and the pass
code I have used when paying by phone, if I can.

How do I take care of this and then go through the bill paying process?

Bill Outman

Hi,
I, too noticed that my new mail sound had changed to “none” so I reset it to
the sound that I wanted, which was under the classic sounds. It now works fine
but I don’t get a vibration, which is no big deal, but I may fiddle around a
bit more to investigate why.

Xfinity mobile anyone?

2018-10-03 Thread Wendy Alling
Good morning all, just wondering, is there anyone on the list using Xfinity
mobile? I’m thinking of switching. Would like some input on this. I’m now with
AT&T.

2018-10-03 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Yes me too I encountered the lack of vibration upon updating to iOS12. I fixed
it and all is vibrating as it should, by going into Settings/Souns, and
changing the vibration pattern from Standard, to I think it was alert? Hope
this helps some.Hopet

Subject: Mail App not Always Vibrating and Dinging with New Mail

Hello, everyone.

I just updated my iPhone SE to iOS 12, and I notice that often, when I
open the Mail app, the phone does not vibrate or make a sound when new
mail is downloaded. When I go to "Settings -> Sounds," "Vibrate" is
set to "Alert," and the "new mail" sound is set to "Classic Ding."
Has anyone noticed this behavior? Whether I receive vibration and
auditory notice of new mail appears to be quite intermittent. Today,
the alert fails more often than it succeeds.

Thanks for all help.

Good question, Simon. I'm not a "push" fan, so I have my provider's email
set to "manual." I only want the phone to check for new mail when I open

Re: Xfinity mobile anyone?

2018-10-03 Thread Richard Turner
My wife and I switched last December to Xfinity Mobile. At that time, you could
not bring your own phone to them, but had to buy a phone through them. We were
ready to update, so that was not a problem. Now I believe, depending on the age
of your phone, you can use your existing phone.
If you do have to buy one, they do not charge interest if you choose to pay
over time.
We went with the by the gig plan since we do not use a lot of data.
So, it is $12 per gig, and no charge for minutes or texting. Unlimited data is
$45 a month.
We've had no issues.

RE: Xfinity mobile anyone?

2018-10-03 Thread Zhi Huang
Hi:

I switched from AT&T slightly over a month ago. Please note that while you can
bring some existing phones, iPhone7s from AT&T are not likely to qualify. This
is the case even if they are unlocked because you may only have a phone
unlocked for use with GSM networks, and not CDMA. Xfinity uses Verizon
networks which is CDMA. With that said, connections for phone calls are much
better for me with Xfinity. It depends on if your area has better AT&T or
Verizon service. For me, the change has better calls, and lower cost.
However, I do notice that downloading apps appear much slower even on wifi.
Also, I do miss the free AT&T call protect app compared to just using Hiya to
deal with spam and other unwanted calls, but I will work with that.

We went with the by the gig plan since we do not use a lot of data.

So, it is $12 per gig, and no charge for minutes or texting. Unlimited data is

We've had no issues.

Weird Thing Going On

2018-10-03 Thread GARY WILLIAMS

Hi List,
We have noticed that the list of calls in recents both all calls, and missed
calls have disappeared. Yesterday we got them back by rebooting the phone, but
today after rebooting the phone the list is still empty.
Has anyone else had this problem? I delete calls from numbers I don’t know and
block them. Can’t do that because it says empty list.
Thanks for any help or advice on this.

The arch

iPhone battery.

2018-10-03 Thread Carolyn Arnold
I have had major, really major problems with Outlook, talked
to Microsoft twice yesterday. So, when I told my cousin
today, that it would take a while, was waiting until after
lunch, she said be sure and charge your battery. I said, it
has 90 percent, I don't think I need to. She thought it
would be better to give it a little charge, but I did not.

So, after lunch, when I called Microsoft at 12:45, it was at
89 percent. We got off the phone at 2:45, and it was 69
percent. My cousin called soon after, and we talked, maybe
20 minutes - 64. I don't think she gets the mileage from her
Samsung mini that I get from my SE. I said, It's all a
matter of settings, my dear.

If you pray, don't worry; if you worry, don't pray,

Carolyn

I found this bug while in the beta so I just went into vibration settings and
change the vibration for mail to quick. No Gmail doesn’t really support push.
You can set it to automatically but either way you have to open the mail app to
get the right email count so I have outlook for iOS notifying me of new mail.

Zello doing something in the background

2018-10-03 Thread Gordon
So last night I slept for a little over six hours. this morning I was
bored so I decided to look around under the battery in settings. I
noticed that my phone was showing high minute usage during the time I
was asleep. I don't look at this every day, but I do look at it
occasionally. So I pretty much knew that Zello was the only thing I had
updated lately since the last time I looked around in there. I deleted
Zello and didn't use my phone at all during the 10:00 hour this morning.
when I went back into the battery and looked it showed no usage during
that time period. You might see low usage like a minute or two when
you're sleeping hour by hour if your phone rings and stuff like that,
but never 30 minutes like I did. So if you have Zello installed and
updated it recently, take a look at your hour by hour and see if your
phone is doing stuff while you're sleeping.

This facebook and phone number thing

2018-10-03 Thread Gordon
I have this really easy number I've had since 2014 and have never had a
problem. but since yesterday I've received around 25 calls from
818-328-77 numbers. I answered a couple of them, but it was silent. Has
anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm wondering if this is a
result of the thing with face book sharing our numbers. I'm going to be
really pissed off if I have to give up my easy number. I love this
number and I've been lucky that I haven't ever had anything like this
happen before.

Re: Xfinity mobile anyone?

2018-10-03 Thread Andy Baracco
Spectrum has now started a similar offering in partnership with Verizon
Wireless. They charge $45 per line for unlimited and $14 for by the gig. I
don't know if you can bring your own phone. I am a Spectrum customer, but I
get a better deal from T mobile for wireless.

My wife and I switched last December to Xfinity Mobile. At that time, you
could not bring your own phone to them, but had to buy a phone through them. We
were ready to update, so that was not a problem. Now I believe, depending on
the age of your phone, you can use your existing phone.
If you do have to buy one, they do not charge interest if you choose to pay
over time.
We went with the by the gig plan since we do not use a lot of data.
So, it is $12 per gig, and no charge for minutes or texting. Unlimited data
is $45 a month.
  We've had no issues.
  HTH,
  Richard

Can WiFi networks never before used auto load onto iOS 12 devices?

2018-10-03 Thread 'Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.' via VIPhone
Hi,

I've never encountered this before, but since updating my iPhone 7 to iOS 12, I
have been sitting in a favorite restaurant several times, and soon after
arriving getting message on my phone that the restaurants 5G network can be
joined by clicking.

At first, I was suspicious and didn't click. They had never previously had any
Guest network and now a 5G network was trying to get me to click on it and join.

The next time I was there, the same thing happened, so I asked staff about it.
They looked at the screen and said it looked like it was theirs, and they knew
there was a newly installed Guest network, as well as several secure networks
for the business, all of which were listed when he looked at the available
networks.

Clicking on it this time, it seemed to work fine for an hour, then the same
message was received as the first, presumably as the first go around had timed
out.

This is an unsecured network.

At any rate, I have never previously had a network seek out my phone for
activation. Is this something new to iOS 12, or could it be a feature of their
network?

Any insights appreciated.

Keith

Good morning.

I finally got around to setting up the My AT&T app on my iPhone, as I am having
trouble paying my cell bill by phone as I keep getting disconnected.

I got through the long license agreement and to the point of logging in to my
account.  I went to the about screen to find out my log in options, but
couldn’t figure how to get to the edit fields from there to get the on screen
keyboard to show up.  I want to use my wireless number and the pass code I have
used when paying by phone, if I can.

How do I take care of this and then go through the bill paying process?

The Power of Twitter Continues to Amaze Me

2018-10-03 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

As the subject line states, I continue to be amazed by the power of Twitter.

Two days ago, at approximately 3:00pm, while on a call with Keurig, the
makers of my K-Elite coffee brewer, discussing the best method of cleaning
the machine, the representative suggested that I disassemble a particular
component of the device for even better results. Keep in mind, that when I
initially placed the call, my coffee maker was working perfectly. I called,
therefore, in anticipation of when a de-scaling / cleaning would be
necessary; wanting instructions on how it should be done.

Following the representative's instructions, while on the call, I was told
to, twist, the component rather than, pull, it apart. When I informed her
that the piece would not budge, she insisted that I twist it even harder. I
complied and the component broke off, ruined.

She placed me on hold. When she returned, she acknowledged that she had
given me the wrong instructions and apologized. She escalated the call. A
second-level representative apologized and said that a replacement part
would be shipped out but that it would not arrive for at least 10 business
days.

While I was livid, I did not yell or behave in any way shameful. I
requested that I speak to a manager.

My request was granted and the manager informed me that neither she nor her
manager could get the item to me any sooner than 7 business days. She
apologized, sincerely, or so it seemed to me, and gave me coupons for free
boxes of any coffee of my choice.

What began as a simple 5-minute call, turned into a 1-hour affair which left
me disappointed, angry, and, most importantly, without the use of my coffee
brewer.

Shortly after the call, I posted the following tweet:

adding a note to a contact

2018-10-03 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
Hi all. I want to add a note to an already existing contact. I go to the
contact and When I double tap the edit button I can’t get to the notes
field. It seems to get stuck at the home address, just repeating the street
address city and state as I flick right. If I get out of the edit field I
can see the notes section at the end of the contact information, so I double
tap that and there is a text field. I type in the information I want to
add, but can’t seem to find a save button or anything like that. So I hit
the home button to get out of the contact. When I look at the information
the note doesn’t show up. I’m sure there is something simple I’m not doing,
but I can’t figure out what that is. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

God bless!

It most certainly does get the job done. I've had to do this a few times
and got swift results. I wish that I would have had the power of Twitter
back when I did consumer stuff on the radio and helped people out who
were done wrong by companies.

Re: Xfinity mobile anyone?

2018-10-03 Thread Kelly Pierce
I am with Xfinity Mobile and love the better service and much lower
prices. I have an unlocked iPhone 7 that I bought from Apple. It is
compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks. I previously was on
T-Mobile and did not like the coverage gaps or places with really slow
download speeds.

I switched in January within the first week Xfinity allowed people to
join with their own iPhones that were not purchased from Xfinity. At
that time, they were still learning about compatibility. It turns out
in switching from a GSM network to a CDMA network, the iPhone needs to
be reset with the CDMA SIM card and restored from an iCloud backup.
It was not a big deal because I back up to iCloud and I backed up to
iTunes before going to the store. The restore went flawlessly and the
gig Wi-Fi at the store got my phone functional fast. My music was
wiped out so I synched it to iTunes without issue.

Hi everyone. Has anyone noticed that after doing a search in the YouTube app,
Voiceover only says the length of time the video is?

RE: adding a note to a contact

2018-10-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You don’t have to tap Edit, you can edit the Notes field as soon as you open
the contact.
As for focus getting stuck on address it does that for me too but you simply
can touch the screen below this and then you can swipe again, only if you
swipe right at the top and all the way down this will happen.

Subject: adding a note to a contact

Hi all. I want to add a note to an already existing contact. I go to the
contact and When I double tap the edit button I can’t get to the notes field.
It seems to get stuck at the home address, just repeating the street address
city and state as I flick right. If I get out of the edit field I can see the
notes section at the end of the contact information, so I double tap that and
there is a text field. I type in the information I want to add, but can’t seem
to find a save button or anything like that. So I hit the home button to get
out of the contact. When I look at the information the note doesn’t show up.
I’m sure there is something simple I’m not doing, but I can’t figure out what
that is. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
God bless!

RE: Mail App not Always Vibrating and Dinging with New Mail

2018-10-03 Thread M. Taylor
Believe it or not, I noticed the same behavior after updating to iOS 12 and it
drove me crazy until I discovered the solution, (smile).

While this was done, automatically in iOS 11, in iOS 12, from the Settings
menu, select sounds and haptics. Next, Make certain that Vibrate on Silent is
set to on. Next, select the New Mail item by single-finger Double-tapping.
Now, at the very top of the display, select the Vibration pattern. The default
is set to off. This is why there is no vibration. Simply set it to Quick, and
all will be as it was in iOS 11. (smile).

Enjoy,

Mark

I found this bug while in the beta so I just went into vibration settings and
change the vibration for mail to quick. No Gmail doesn’t really support push.
You can set it to automatically but either way you have to open the mail app to
get the right email count so I have outlook for iOS notifying me of new mail.

Good question, Simon. I'm not a "push" fan, so I have my provider's email set

Craig
