Subject: How to sign up for iTunes match if you are running a Windows PC

I am asking this question for a friend. I have been signed up with iTunes match
for several years, so I have no idea how to help him. He does not have a mask.
He does have a Windows PC, and he does have a bunch of stuff in iTunes. He was
trying to sign up for iTunes match and was not successful. So the question: how
to sign up for iTunes match if you are running a Windows PC?

Re: iPhone suddenly stopped talking

2018-11-29 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Janet,

It's possible that VoiceOVer volume has gotten turned down. Unlock the phone
and flick down with two fingers to get Voiceover to start reading the screen.
Then turn up the volume.

Another thing you can do is ask Siri to turn off VoiceOver and then ask Siri to
turn it back on.

You might also plug in headphones and see if that works. On phones that have a
headphone jack, sometimes dust can get into the jack and prevent the phone from
realizing that you have unplugged the headphones, so you can hear Voiceover
over headphones but not the speaker. In that case, plugging and unplugging the
headphones a few times will probably dislodge the dust.

If those suggestions don't help, I would suggest trying to find someone who can
look at your screen.

Best of luck,
Anna

Hi all,

I'm still not getting to grips too well with my watch. For one thing,
I'm getting no feedback with the digital crown when turning it away (up)

can't find "Settings" to do this.

Any help will be welcome, thanks.

Re: QBraille XL - 40

2018-11-29 Thread Richard Turner

We had one to try last week from the distributer at my work. The firmware
wasn't fully supporting iOS or much else outside the unit itself. Normally,
with a braille display, control-Options-spacebar is the same as a single finger
double tap.
Has there been a firmware update very recently? Does the iPhone recognize it as
the QBraille, or is it just seen as a Braille Edge?
Thanks,
Richard

Hi Carol

i'm also struggling. Try pressing the button next to the digital crown
then as far as i can see, from there you can swipe to setting. I have
downloaded the online manual but even that's not particually easy to
navigate. Please keep all your watch questions on list as i'm sure we
can't be the only ones who are struggling.

Thanks

Re: MORE HELP WITH THE WATCH, PLEASE!

2018-11-29 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi,

One thing that can help you find the apps you want is to make sure they're in
list view rather than grid view. In list view, they're in alphabetical order,
and you can use the digital crown to scroll through them. To get them in list
view, do the following:

1. Wake your watch.

2. Press the digital crown to go to the screen containing your apps.

3. Force press. To do this press, the screen until you feel a vibration. Force
pressing is often a way to get to additional options in an app.

4. There are two buttons on the screen - Grid View and List View. Double-tap
List View.

Settings is one of the apps. You can also ask Siri to open apps, or choose
recent or favorite apps from the dock, depending on how you configure the dock.
You get to the dock by pressing the side button, the one next to the digital
crown.

Again, though, most of the settings are available in the Watch app on your
phone.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi all,

I received my instant pot wifi smart cooker today. I downloaded the
app but no matter what I try, I am unable to pair it with my phone. I
go to add a smart cooker, it says searching and after a few seconds I
hear unable to find a smart cooker.

Can someone please help? I'm about ready to pack it up and return it.

Thanks,
Kim

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Mary Otten
If the Wi-Fi model is like the Bluetooth model, you have to press one of the
buttons on the unit in order for it to become seen by the app. Also, there are
two apps, one of which is for the Bluetooth only and the other for the Wi-Fi
model only. So you want to make sure you have the correct app. I hope they have
a customer service number that you can call and order to get some help to find
out which button you might need to press in order to accomplish the pairing.

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Deb Cook Lewis
Also, since it's WiFi, you probably have to do something to put it on
to your home network first. That part may definitely not be accessible
since you'll have to enter things without any verification from the
device. I wouldn't assume this is anything like the bluetooth model
based on what I've heard.

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread bbillsheets
So on the older model which did pair with the Bluetooth he would hold out a
button on the cooker for about six seconds while impaired mode. So I’m assuming
you may do the same thing with the new word cooker check the manual please you
could also call the manufacturer are the instant pot maker’s and see what they
say they will probably help you or go online hope that helps

Using the calendar

2018-11-29 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

So I used to just make notes on my phone for my appointments and such.

However, now I am trying to learn how to use the calendar. I am a bit
confused by it though.

For 1 thing, when I set an event, and I want to be alerted, I don't get
any notification.

What could be causing this problem?

Also, once an event is over, is it not cleared from the calendar?

Will I always need to go in and delete stuff?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

2018-11-29 Thread Susie Stageberg
I would say that the calendar takes a little fiddling to get it to work, but it
is worth the trouble.

As for the notifications, go into notification settings and find the calendar;
you can change how the phone lets you know about alerts there.

My only frustration with the calendar is that focus seems to jump around when
you are trying to enter something. But it has proved very useful in keeping
track of my typical older-lady round of appointments and such.

Subject: Using the calendar

Hello everyone,

So I used to just make notes on my phone for my appointments and such.

However, now I am trying to learn how to use the calendar. I am a bit
confused by it though.

For 1 thing, when I set an event, and I want to be alerted, I don't get
any notification.

What could be causing this problem?

Also, once an event is over, is it not cleared from the calendar?

Will I always need to go in and delete stuff?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

RE: Using the calendar

2018-11-29 Thread Ann Byrne

Siri will schedule appointments, and will list existing appointments as well.

"schedule an appointment titled breakfast on December 4 at 10 a.m."

"what are my appointments next week? What are my appointments for
January? When is the appointment titled "dentist"?

I use Fantastical2 to display active appointments, but I use Siri for
all my scheduling.

Re: iPhone suddenly stopped talking

2018-11-29 Thread Esther Levegnale
Hi, Janet,

Just letting you know that the same thing happened to me about two weeks ago.
I was using my phone and for no rhyme or reason, it just stopped talking. I
finally called Apple Accessibility and they helped me get my phone talking
again. It was rather scary and I hope this never happens again. They were
very patient. I was on the phone for quite some time, but all my apps came
back as well as my music. I don’t know if you have ever called them, but they
are wonderful.

Their number is (877) 2043930. Good luck!

Re: Using the calendar

2018-11-29 Thread Richard Turner

if you go into settings, Calendar, you can set a default alert prior to your
appointment. This will be used for all new appointments after you have set a
default alert time.
You can edit your current ones and dig into the details to turn on alerts.
Using Siri is excellent and for reading your appointments, the $4.99 for
Fantastical 2 is beyond worth the price.

Google Fi with an iphone

2018-11-29 Thread jkt4960
Hi,

Is anyone familiar with Google Fi, how it works with an iphone, and any
comments you might choose to make? I just heard about it today. It sounds
kind of interesting. I may try to scrounge up a spare phone to try it. If I
do I'll pass on the results.
