Also you can try an app called Pedometer++. I don’t think that will help with
the accuracy, though.

That changed a few days ago. You can now listen to apple music on sonos
speakers using alexa.
Dear All,

I heard a rumour that connecting my apple music subscription to Alexa only
works on the Echo units and will not work with Sonos units so enabled.

Can anyone clear this up?

With thanks as always.

That is what I also heard, but Google would be your friend here or you could
simply get it from the horse's mouth and call Sonos support at 800-680-2345
If this is still the case I am sure at some point it will be possible to do
this on Sonos speakers as well.

Re: WayAround app and identification/labelling system

2019-04-25 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi, Debbie,

I’m interested in finding out more about the Wayaround app. I listen to Rick’s
countdown every week and have also listened toyour country show on occasion. I
want some kind of labeling system which will be reliable. I usually pin on
color tags or buttons but they come off in the washing machine and I get
confused with colors. I have been using Tap Tap See and Seeing AI to get the
colors of clothing items but am not sure if I am doing it accurately. Any help
would be appreciated.

2019-04-25 Thread Merv Keck
I don't have kids. And I also stream Hulu, Prime and up until Netflix raised
their price beginning May 22nd to $12.99 monthly for my Plan I also streamed
Netflix. I also plan to stream Disney if it is accessible. And I streamed HBO
when it was free for a year as part of my Community Cable and Internet plan.
Safari is a fair work around for the non-accessible Pureflix app. But once you
select what you want to watch you have to turn off Voiceover, tap the screen,
and then turn back on Voiceover once the selection begins.
I'm finding that my iPad Pro 2018 is a pretty good entertainment center.

 HI all,

We recently resub scribed to Pureflix which is a family streaming
 service
similar to Netflix. In the past, the app on the iPhone, iPad, and apple
 TV
have been accessible. Now, it seems that none of the apps are
 accessible.
The Web site is still partially accessible, but that is not ideal for
 us
 to
 watch the content.

My reasons for writing are twofold.

First, I would like to know if others on the list who subscribe to
 Pureflix
have noticed these issues and if there are any workarounds that we
 haven’t
thought of, although I am pretty sure the answer to this question is
 no.
Still, it never hurts to ask.

Second, I would like to appeal to other Pureflix subscribers or those
interested in Pureflix to please join me in e-mailing them expressing
 the
wish to have their apps be accessible once again.

The issues we are having are these. On the Apple TV app, we can’t even
 get
logged in. On the iPhone and iPad, we can get logged in, but though
 the
headers read, the actual names of shows or movies are not read, and
Voiceover just says the word “series” over and over again.

The address you can send your message to is:
 supp...@pureflix.com

Thanks for reading, and I hope some of you will join me in this appeal.

Good afternoon:

I am using the iPhone 8. My voicemail says no voicemail however, when

I call and try to leave a message my voice mails says that it is full. I
guess I never actually deleted all my old messages; however, now I don't
know how to get in and do that since I don't have any voicemails. Any
suggestions?

Thanks.

The reason I mentioned censorship is because vidangel at least is
aimed at people who want to dictate what their kids can watch, which I

Subject: Pureflix and Accessibility on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

Re: apple health app

2019-04-25 Thread Keith Bierman
Largely it's automatic. Just keep your phone in a pocket (or otherwise on
your person, armband, whatever) and start walking. Check the app, it should
have picked up that was what you were doing. Apple doesn't details "how"
but there's an accelerometer in the phone and it's "just a matter of
software" to turn that into a pedometer. However, it's not as accurate as a
real one:

RE: What is the fastest way to copy a URL link from an email for pasting to the Podcasts app?

2019-04-25 Thread Alan Lemly
Anthony,

After you've copied the URL using Anna's method or the alternative method
posted by Sieghard, navigate to the text box where you want to paste it,
perform the rotor action repeatedly until you hear edit, single finger swipe
down until you hear paste, and then do a single finger double tap. Whatever was
last copied to your clipboard should be pasted to the text box.

Hi Alan,

Touch the link to bring focus there and tap four times with three fingers. This
copies the last thing VoiceOver said to the clipboard. In this case, it will be
the link.

Best,

Hi List,

I'm working with a list of URL podcast feed links in an email for which I'm
seeking the fastest way to copy a specific link in order to paste it to the
native Podcasts app in order to manually subscribe to the feed. I'm running iOS
12.2 on an iPhone 8 and am using the standard Mail app. I know the links in the
source email are complete and unbroken but I'm unaware of a gesture to make it
easy to copy a URL link. I would have thought by this point that one could give
a link focus and do a gesture such as a double tap and hold or a single finger
swipe that would present a menu allowing you to copy it. I have been
unsuccessful when attempting this and also when trying to share one of these
podcast links. Be aware that these are nonstandard podcast feeds which aren't
available when searching in the usual manner in a podcast app or when browsing
podcasts that have gone through the Apple podcast registration process.

Any help directing me on the easiest way to copy a URL for pasting would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Richard - knowledgeable and succinct, as usual! By trial and error,
I also discovered that a single-finger double-Tap and hold did bring up a menu,
announcing “Show more items” and if I double-Tap on that and then flick left, I
get the option to Add attachment. Your method is clearer, though!

SimpleHelp: How to Create a Custom Vibration Ringtone for an iPhone Contact, and 1 more

SimpleHelp: "How to Create a Custom Vibration Ringtone for an iPhone
Contact" and 1 more

How to Create a Custom Vibration Ringtone for an iPhone Contact
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 04:15 AM PDT

This guide will take you step by step through the process of setting up a
custom vibration pattern to use for an iPhone contact - so you know exactly
who's calling or texting based on the vibration!

1.
Select the contact for whom you want to create a custom vibration pattern.

2.
Tap Edit from the upper-right corner of the screen.

3.
Scroll down to the section titled Ringtone and select it.

4.
Now scroll down to the section titled Vibration and select it.

5.
>From here you can choose a pre-created vibration pattern (the Heartbeat one
is great) or create your own by selecting Create New Vibration. When you've
made your selection or created your own, tap the Ringtone link in the
upper-left corner to return to the previous screen.

6.
Confirm that your newly selected vibration is now displayed and then tap
Done

7.
If you want to create a custom vibration pattern for when this contact sends
you a text message, tap the Text Tone section and repeat the above steps.

8.
If you ever want to change this setting just return to this contact in your
address book and locate the Ringtone and/or Text Tone sections.

How to Add ALT Text to Your Instagram Photos
Posted: 25 Apr 2019 04:15 AM PDT

This quick tip will show you how to add "ALT" text to your Instagram photos
(and explain why you want to do so).

"Alt" text is written text that describes an image or photo. Using it on
your Instagram photos allows screen-reading utilities to describe the image
to visually impaired users, in addition to allowing search engines to better
crawl and rank your content. Instagram attempts to 'auto-generate' ALT text
for your posts and it's usually not very good. Writing your own ALT text
only takes a few moments and in all likelihood will increase your Instagram
visibility.

To add ALT text to your Instagram posts, just follow these steps -

1.
Compose your post as you always do, but this time tap the Advanced Settings
link towards the bottom of the screen.

2.
Scroll down to the ACCESSIBILITY section and select Write Alt Text

3.
In the space provided, write a description of the photo or image you're
about to post. Do not write a series of keywords, instead write a brief
'natural' description of the photo. Don't start the description with "this
is a photo of" or "this is an image of" - just jump right in and describe
it. When you're finished tap the Done button and continue to post your image
as always.

4.
That's it!

Re: Pureflix and Accessibility on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

2019-04-25 Thread Merv Keck
I have no idea what censorship has to do with app accessibility. Pureflix is
simply a streaming option like Hulu or Netflix or Acorn. They offer thousands
of movies and shows. Just a different selection than Netflix. Acorn offers a
different selection than Hulu. And soon Disney will offer a different selection
than Apple. And with any luck all will be accessible on the iPhone, iPad, and
Apple TV.

Hi folks

Largely it collects data from other applications providing a secure "hub" for
your data. For example, users of Strava (popular running/cycling/etc. tracker)
can configure things so that all your workouts are automatically uploaded into
Apple Health. users of various glucose meters can configure them to upload
their data as well. Then, looking at Apple Health you can see both your
workouts and your glucose history. You can configure several major US based
labs (no doubt nonUS as well, but I haven't exercised them) so that your blood
or other lab results are automatically downloaded as well.

In addition to it's function as a hub, it has some limited built in monitoring
... walking/stair climbing are reasonably picked up from the phone itself. you
can manually input data (such as weight or other results). If you have an Apple
Watch (latest models) you can have your heart data stored as well. No doubt
Apple will add other sensors over time.

Largely it collects data from other applications providing a secure "hub"
for your data. For example, users of Strava (popular running/cycling/etc.
tracker) can configure things so that all your workouts are automatically
uploaded into Apple Health. users of various glucose meters can configure
them to upload their data as well. Then, looking at Apple Health you can
see both your workouts and your glucose history. You can configure several
major US based labs (no doubt nonUS as well, but I haven't exercised them)
so that your blood or other lab results are automatically downloaded as
well.

In addition to it's function as a hub, it has some limited built in
monitoring ... walking/stair climbing are reasonably picked up from the
phone itself. you can manually input data (such as weight or other
results). If you have an Apple Watch (latest models) you can have your
heart data stored as well. No doubt Apple will add other sensors over time.

Hi Alan,

Touch the link to bring focus there and tap four times with three fingers. This
copies the last thing VoiceOver said to the clipboard. In this case, it will be
the link.

Best,

Hi List,

I'm working with a list of URL podcast feed links in an email for which I'm

Yes, Siri can reply to an email for you. Here is how I do it.

If you navigate to and open an email, you should be able to activate Siri and
say, "Reply." They will then say, "What would you like the email to say," at
which point you would then speak the contents of your reply. They will then
confirm and give you the option to send it, to which you can simply reply,
"Yes." There may be an easier way to do this, but this is the way I found.
Also, the dictate button is immediately to the left of the space bar.

    HI all,

We recently resub scribed to  Pureflix which is a family streaming service
similar to Netflix. In the past, the app on the iPhone, iPad, and apple TV have
been accessible.  Now, it seems that none of the apps are accessible.  The Web
site is still partially accessible, but that is not ideal for us to watch the
content.

My reasons for writing are twofold.

First, I would like to know if others on the list who subscribe to Pureflix
have noticed these issues and if there are any workarounds that we haven’t
thought of, although I am pretty sure the answer to this question is no.
Still, it never hurts to ask.

Second, I would like to appeal to other Pureflix subscribers or those
interested in Pureflix to please join me in e-mailing them expressing the wish
to have their apps be accessible once again.

The issues we are having are these.  On the Apple TV app, we can’t even get
logged in.  On the iPhone and iPad, we can get logged in, but though the
headers read, the actual names of shows or movies are not read, and Voiceover
just says the word “series” over and over again.

Thanks for reading, and I hope some of you will join me in this appeal.

RE: Bathroom Scales

2019-04-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It all depends on your preferences. There are a number of smart scales which do
have accessible apps, we have the one from Nokia, it used to be Withings, I
believe the one from Qardio is also quite accessible and for somebody who also
has a Qardio blood pressure monitor it probably makes sense to stay with that
brand. Both of these are Health kit compatible, e.g. the results are available
in their respective app but also in Apple Health. The Fitbit Aria is also a
scale some on the list have, but unless something changed I don’t think it
works with Apple Health. I have never heard of the models you mentioned.
To me smart scales do make some sense since nowadays they often don’t cost a
lot more if at all more than a good talking scale.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Bathroom Scales

Hi,

Is it worth buying smart scales such as the kantron smart body fat analyser or
renpho Bluetooth body fat scale? Has any one used either of these with the
IPhone and how accessible and easy to use have you found them? Or is it best to
just stick with the ordinary traditional scales?

Thanks, Husna
