Hi Keith,

If you bring up your list of tabs just tap on the one you want, if you flick
up or down you are actually moving from “Activate” which is the default to
“Close.

RE: problem with passcode settings

2019-06-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
To each their own, I have mine set to lock after a minute because I would
actually forget to do so.
Unlike my Apple Watch, my iPhone doesn't lock itself while I am actually doing
something. And it always says "screen dimmed" about 10 seconds before it
actually locks so if I am about to do something else it only takes a quick
flick or touch and it will stay unlocked for another 1 minute.

Since I'm not that fast at typing yet, I was having loads of trouble when
trying to type in something when my phone would keep locking on me. It was set
to lock automatically every one minute I wasn't using it. If I'm not going to
use my phone a long time, I can just either turn it off, or lock it. The
battery drain isn't that bad especially if you have bluetooth off and wifi.

Re: tabs ons safari

2019-06-30 Thread Richard Turner

hi Keith,
I have not experienced that.
If you close Safari and go back and open tabs, and don't close any, just double
tap on one you want, and see if that works.
It could be that if you have closed a bunch, one by one, that it somehow
thought it was still closing them?
Not sure.

To switch tabs, double tap on the tab at the bottom right corner, and you can
then pick the one you want to switch to.
You can only have one open at a time, but you can have hundreds of tabs
available.
You should be able to close them by double tapping and holding, and when you
hear the tone, you will have a choice to close it.
Or, if you want a clean start, double tap and hold on the tab button in the
lower right, and after the tones you should find a close all button.

Hello all,
I am 43 now and I lost my sight a month before my 27th birthday. I have found
it very hard to learn to read braille efficiently. I did well learning what the
dot configurations were but reading is more difficult for me. It is nearly
impossible for me to read paper braille unless its jumbo braille. After nearly
40 years as a type one diabetic my fingertips are just not as sensitive as
others. I also struggle with feeling like I am in first grade trying to learn
how to read again. My brain has problems with this. LOL. I do have an Orbit
reader 20 which I purchased as soon as they became available. Braille is so
important but I struggle with it all the time.

Re: problem with passcode settings

2019-06-30 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Since I'm not that fast at typing yet, I was having loads of trouble
when trying to type in something when my phone would keep locking on
me. It was set to lock automatically every one minute I wasn't using
it. If I'm not going to use my phone a long time, I can just either
turn it off, or lock it. The battery drain isn't that bad especially
if you have bluetooth off and wifi.

Like Joshua, I also have my iPhone 8 set to never lock automatically. I abhor

Subject: RE: problem with passcode settings

If, however, you keep your phone unlocked for quite a long time when you
actually don't use it, it will use a significant amount of battery since the
display will be on all the time and eve n with brightness set to 0 it uses up
battery.

I think I had my settings as Joshua described. Hopefully I can figure out how
to return to that state. Sorry for not explaining as well as I'd hoped.

Re: the right hear app

2019-06-30 Thread Dan

I downloaded and installed this app and tried it out.  It
doesn't seem to allow stationary labels that the app will
track.  What it does is allow one to record a voice and text
label for a given GPS location.  After doing that it includes
that location in its list of near by locations.  Using these
recorded locations I think it would get a person to within a few
feet of the spot from what I can tell after trying it.

It also looks like you have to be at a given location in
order to record a label for that location.

Hi listers,
Not sure whether my Iphone is a 7 or 8, lol, but it is running current
software as far as I know.
Since changing my credit card in my itunes account i'm finding that my
phone is calling for my passcode every time the unlock screen comes
up. Needless to say, I would find it much more convenient to input my
passcode only after the 24 or 48 hours away from my phone as I had it
set up. I have gone into settings to attempt to change this but can't
seem to find what I need to do. Any help on this much appreciated.
Many thanks.

interesting idea Sandy, but that would mean attaching a label in the mailbox.
How weather proof are these labels? How expensive?

Spell checking in the Microsoft Word app

2019-06-30 Thread Ryan Mann
If I am using the Microsoft Word app on an iPad, what is the best way to spell
check a document? Misspelled Words is not in the rotor and there does not seem
to be any spell check dialog. The only way I can tell whether something is
misspelled is if I go word by word and VoiceOver will say ‘misspelled” if a
word is spelled wrong. This is fine for shorter documents, but for longer
documents this would take too long.

Re: GPS app four labeling a location

2019-06-30 Thread juan mojena
Hi Richard
what I need is to label a location on my property which is an acre and I want
to label a certain area like a mailbox or maybe a tree. I know that the Victor
reader trek can do this.

RE: problem with passcode settings

2019-06-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I believe this also is an option if you don't have any credit or debit cards
set up in Wallet to be used for Apple Pay. If you do then you don't have a
choice but to unlock your phone with either passcode or Touch Id (or Face Id if
you have an iPhone X or newer) each time.

Hi listers,
Not sure whether my Iphone is a 7 or 8, lol, but it is running current
software as far as I know.

If, however, you keep your phone unlocked for quite a long time when you
actually don't use it, it will use a significant amount of battery since the
display will be on all the time and eve n with brightness set to 0 it uses up
battery.

Hi,
The first line of the note will show up as its title.
So, if you want a schedule, I would put the first line as schedule, then say
“new line” to put in a hard return.
After that, things should behave correctly.
I hope that works,

- Lastly, when you just create a new note, is it a heading of sorts? Should
I have created a note saying Schedule then tapped on it to create detailed
notes under it? Could this be why only some of the text of some of my notes
shows up on the main screen?

Thanks,
Sherry Wells

Help with Feeddler

2019-06-30 Thread Joe Orozco
Hi,

Is anyone else still using Feeddler to read RSS feeds, and if so, have
you been encountering a weird (null) error anytime you go to read
articles? I can’t seem to get any of the articles to open. I’ve
temporarily switched back to Lire, but I prefer Feeddler if I could
get that issue resolved. Thanks in advance for any help.

Joe

I have never heard of having it set to every 24 or more hours.
There is immediately, off, and I just noticed an option to not use it to unlock
your phone. Something I wouldn't advise unless that means you can use a
fingerprint instead.

I'd call Apple Accessibility: 877-204-3930

Re: GPS app four labeling a location

2019-06-30 Thread Richard Turner
Once you have entered a location in Google Maps, you can save it with a name.
I have several done that way.
But, you have to either be at the place, or have entered the address and
selected save or favorite.
Is that what you are looking for?
If it is a business, Google lets you search by the business name.
