Re: Phone not working.

2019-07-10 Thread Arlene
Carolyn, most likely there was nothing wrong with your phone. It could have
been the network, consumer cellular, or something with at since consumer
cellular is owned by them. It makes all the difference in the world,
shutting down and coming back on again.

Today, for a while, I could not hear anyone, and no one
could hear me from my phone - an iPhone SE, with, at that
time, about 78 percent battery.

Finally, I shut it down completely, brought it back up,
turned Voiceover off then on, and now it works fine.

Anyone have any idea what was going on?

If you pray, don't worry; if you worry, don't pray,

RE: Are there any robot vacuums that are accessible and good for pet hair?

2019-07-10 Thread Cher Bosch
We have the Neato Botvac and love it. There are models with special combination
brushes for pet hair- which work great. It runs a pattern instead of wandering
around and bumping into things, is extremely quiet, and is very easy to
maintain. Customer service is A+- best I've ever seen! I do not have a
connected model- you should check with them re how the accessibility on the app
is doing.

We bought the irobot i7 and it is quite accessible. The app is very useable,
and for bin issues the vaccuum talks. We got the one with the clean base, so
it empties itself.
Guess the point is it would be hard to go wrong with the irobot series.

Re: need help testing a page for accessibility

2019-07-10 Thread Richard Turner

I do not think VoiceOver will speak the column and row headings like Jaws.
That has never worked for me, other than creating lots of extra verbiage that
ends up being the row and column numbers, but never the headings.
Maybe in iOS 13 we could see this, but I'm not holding my breath.

This could be caused by so many things... possibly your network had an issue,
your phone somehow got muted, iOS needed a reboot, if you don't have great
signal and use wifi maybe your internet went out briefly... glad your issue is
fixed.

Re: need help testing a page for accessibility

2019-07-10 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello,

Have you gone into the settings app, general, accessibility, VoiceOver,
verbosity and checked to make sure all of the verbosity levels are set to on
for tables?

This is where I would start. If I’m not mistaken there should also be a rotor
option for tables. I don’t utilize this feature but it might only be to find
tables on the page. I honestly don’t remember.

Phone not working.

2019-07-10 Thread Carolyn Arnold
Today, for a while, I could not hear anyone, and no one
could hear me from my phone - an iPhone SE, with, at that
time, about 78 percent battery.

Finally, I shut it down completely, brought it back up,
turned Voiceover off then on, and now it works fine.

Anyone have any idea what was going on?

If you pray, don't worry; if you worry, don't pray,

Carolyn

need help testing a page for accessibility

2019-07-10 Thread Donald Raikes
Hello all you VoiceOver experts:

I am trying to understand how VoiceOver should behave when working
with html tables.

I know that with JAWS, when I use the table navigation keystrokes that
JAWS will read the row/column headers plus the coordinate and data
cell contents.

When I use VoiceOver, all I am getting is the cell coordinates and
cell contents not the row and column headers.

What I do:
using the rotor, I jump to the table, then set the rotor to vertical
navigation. If I flick right or left I get the cell coordinate and its
contents but no header information. Same thing happens if I flick
up/down.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or is this a limitation of VoiceOver?

Test URL:
https://donraikes.github.io/AccJet/?root=module3=table

Thanks in advance for any help.

Donald Raikes

Re: Are there any robot vacuums that are accessible and good for pet hair?

2019-07-10 Thread Yolanda Thompson
We bought the irobot i7 and it is quite accessible. The app is very
useable, and for bin issues the vaccuum talks. We got the one with
the clean base, so it empties itself.
Guess the point is it would be hard to go wrong with the irobot series.

Good these updates are happening. I may have to touch base with them concerning
bar code channel. Glad your note came through as I am reconstructing my list

Re: With extreme apologies: OT: Netflix questions and one more question

2019-07-10 Thread Victor Gouveia
I've placed below the links you can go to to find out about audio
description on Netflix.

The last link will actually take you to the page which includes different
programs with different language descriptions.

Please keep in mind, the below are solely for North America, mainly U.S. and
Canada, so if you're not in these two countries, I'm sorry, I wouldn't know
where to begin, but I'm sure a Google search would help you.

https://www.netflix.com/browse/audio-description

http://acb.org/adp/netflixad.html

And for the page with non-English audio description:

http://acb.org/adp/netflixadother.html

Gpood luck.

Subject: Woth extreme apologies: OT: Netflix questions and one more question

Hi friends,

I am extremely sorry for this but since I know no other group I am
writing here.

How do I know if a particular series on Netflix is audio-described?

Is there good family series on Netflix?

Is there any group where such things could be discussed amongst blind
and VI friends?

Thank you.

Ketan

Re: Woth extreme apologies: OT: Netflix questions and one more question

2019-07-10 Thread Swati Sinha
Hello Keten Sir,
Hope you remember me. I met you in Barrier Break office in 2010. Hope
you are doing well!
Sir, for your question, for every series you will have to play the
series firstinside show controls> audio and sub title option, you will
get option "English, Hindi original, Hindi audio description " Select
the desired option and you are good to go.
English series are mostly audio descriptive but Hindi series are very few.
For example, Laila, and Jinn are two series that are audio descriptive.
