Re: smart wifi instant pot

2019-09-12 Thread Sandy Finley
Sharonda, can you walk me through 2 procedures?

1. If I want to tell my WIFI-enabled IP to pressure cook for 10 minutes, just
what do I say? (I have enabled the skill and linked my IP; I know it is done
because the Echo knows the name of my IP.)

2. How do I change the time with the hardware? I know which buttons are for
which function but could not find that double beep you referred to.

Thank you.

I saw it when I was searching for the one I have. I did not get it because I

The Wi-Fi model only works with the instant pot recipes  app. The smart cooker
app is for the Bluetooth model that is no longer sold. For what it’s worth,
there was an update to the instant pot app yesterday. I have no idea whether
accessibility was improved though.

Hi Andy,
I would like to think you are right, but I don’t think the phone cycle thing is
really accurate. Phones in the old days used to be big because they had to be.
Technology is so much more miniaturized than it was then. People want to see
more. It’s all about the pictures. So, although I wish it weren’t so, I really
don’t think the phones are going to go back and be smaller. I would love to be
wrong.

Hi Andy,

I disagree here. When it comes to smartphones we never went from big to small
and back to big.
The original iPhone started out with a 3.5 inch screen and that remained
constant until the iPhone 5 in 2012. So, from 2007 to 2012 from the original
iPhone to the iPhone 3, 3G, 4 and 4S it was 3.5 inches.
Then the iPhone 5 and 5C as well as the 5S had the 4 inch screen in 2012 and
2013.
In 2014 the 6 and 6 Plus came out with their 4.7 and5.5 inch screens and that
was the standard also in 2015 for the 6S/6S Plus and in 2016 for the 7 and 7
Plus.
In 2017 the 8 and 8 Plus still retained the 4.7 and 5.5 inch screens and the
new iPhone X with the 5.8 inch OLED screen was released.
Then last year the XR came out with the 6.1 inch LCD display and the iPhone XS
and XS Max with the 5.8 and 6.5 inch OLED screen, respectively and this remains
the same this year.
I could possibly see a physically smaller iPhone being reintroduced next year
or in 2021, but it will still have at least a 4.5 or 4.7 inch screen, but due
to the smaller bezels which are now possible it could physically be very
similar to the size of the SE with it's 4 inch screen.
I did, buy the way, forget the SE in my list and I guess technically you are
correct that there was a phone which went down in screen size since the SE came
out in the spring of 2016 after the 6/6 Plus had been out for a year and a
half, but just because they released that one smaller phone it didn't mean the
trend towards larger screen phones stopped and I highly doubt it ever will. Now
they are already talking about foldable screens where you have maybe a very
small 2.5 or 3 inch screen on the outside where you see your notifications and
maybe who is calling you and then once you unfold the phone you are looking at
something along the lines of an iPad Mini size or close to it. To me that is
more likely to happen and more logical than Apple and others like Samsung or
Google and so on going back to small 4 inch screen phones, in todays world
where we do so much on our phones and where we have devices like the Apple
Watch which are tiny and powerful having tiny phones just makes no sense..

Exactly not as many people care about having a small phone. After all you can
see more on a bigger screen. Not to mention they can fit more screen in a
smaller body.

2019-09-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
We won't really know what's new for VoiceOver in iOS 13 until it is
released next Thursday. There are lots of places on the web that have
rumors, and some articles, but we don't know anything solid until it
comes out. When it is released, AppleVis will be a great resource
since they will have full write-ups on what's new and notable bugs.

Tune In Radio on Homepod

2019-09-12 Thread Jim Fettgather
Interesting situation with HomePod.
It will play stations from I Heart radio, but when asked to play, let’s say
KDFC, it will respond, Playing KDFC from Tune In, but then no music.
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.

RE: apple keynote

2019-09-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think to spend many hundreds of Dollars just to get a $60 discount for your
year of Apple TV Plus is a poor investment choice. Sort of like saying, "I
really only need 1 Bluetooth headset, but this one I like is 30% off so I
better buy two".

iOS 13 has some of the biggest accessibility improvements including Voiceover
in a long time. But I'm sure Apple Visa will post a complete run down next week
after iOS 13 is released.

Read2go app Bookshare iOS

2019-09-12 Thread Shai
Hello list,
I keep hearing that the Read2go app from Bookshare is being
discontinued or that support for it will be phased out soon. Has
anybody else heard this?
Thank you in advance for any responses.

I'd pay the $15 for voice dream reader. It is a great app.

Re: apple keynote

2019-09-12 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I'm not really all that much into TV anyway. I'll read a good book
over TV any day. I'm looking forward to IOS 13. I already really
like my iPhone 8 and all the cool things I can do on it and if more
accessibility things are coming with this new update that will make
things all the better.
