RE: Are Third Party Keyboards Working in iOS 12.1.3?

Don,

Out of curiosity, what third party keyboard are you using with iOS 13.x without
issues and what are its Voiceover features?

I don't believe the below information is correct. What is being reported on the
FlickType list by those who have upgraded is that the FlickType keyboard
problems still exist with iOS 13.1.3 but that in iOS 13.2 beta, the FlickType
keyboard is working properly as in iOS 12.x. I personally am waiting to
upgrade from iOS 12.4.1 until iOS 13.2 is officially released since I depend
heavily on the FlickType keyboard for my iPhone input.

Fixed as of the 13.1x series.

RE: A Question for All of You Audio Book Lovers

2019-10-17 Thread R Van Lant
I also adjust the tone on BARD at times, as some of my headphones muffle the
sound more than others and sometimes the narrator voice seems too shrill in
earbuds. My biggest challenge with narrated books is that the narrator often
changes the volume when speaking and that can be hard when listening in a
noisier environment.

much leave the tone at normal.

Did you know that alt-left and right arrow takes you from one place to another
in your history? I didn’t know that. Since I am moving between folders a lot in
different accounts, that’s very simple and direct. Of course if I deviate it
will take me somewhere else. 👍

Do you have any idea why I can’t use my arrows and hear the previous text? I
can in every other window but outlook and chrome. Is it the html?

The only way to lock your iphone as it should be is setting a screen lock time,
do nothing on your phone until that time expires, your phone will lock in a
normal way and won’t be unlocked automatically without doing anything.
It is becoming really funny with all this bugs.
Best regards I’ve never been more satisfied than ever with my iphone being on

I don't believe the below information is correct. What is being reported on the
FlickType list by those who have upgraded is that the FlickType keyboard
problems still exist with iOS 13.1.3 but that in iOS 13.2 beta, the FlickType
keyboard is working properly as in iOS 12.x. I personally am waiting to
upgrade from iOS 12.4.1 until iOS 13.2 is officially released since I depend
heavily on the FlickType keyboard for my iPhone input.

I also think this is a well done feature and I think those who hate

What Robert refers to as having always been part of the rotor is
vertical navigation which is very different.

 Robert,

The vertical scrollbar that is being referred to is the one
implemented on iOS 13. The vertical scrollbar is located on the

RE: setting recurring reminders

2019-10-17 Thread Carolyn Arnold
Someone told me that the phone was about the weakest part of an iPhone.

Phone not calling, watch not telling time makes me think of story. There was a
doctor back in Houston, who dropped dead when examining a patient, fell between
the examining table and the door to the examining room. I don't know the
details of how the patient got attention for someone to open the door, since
this was in about 1993, when few people had cell phones, other than phones in
cars.

Imagine telling your friends, well, I went to the doctor, but the doctor died.

Best regards,

Carolyn

What, you mean you can make phone calls with these smart phones? I'll have to
check that out!

Just kidding, but I do joke with a friend of mine at the office that I
have a smart phone where I can't make phone calls and a smart watch
where I can't tell the time.

You can set them with Siri, but take some time going through the app's
 options.
You can get rather creative on setting up reoccurring reminders.
If on iOS 12, the Reminders will still work, or just set reoccurring
appointments on the calendar and set an alarm sound for the time of the
 event.

 Hi,

What is the best app to use for setting recurring reminders. For
example, each week on friday afternoon, I need to file a status report

 on a particular presentation.

I want my phone to alert me, but not have to do anything special to

 Any tips would be appreciated,

Hi,

As a work-around for this, you can set up an activity that sets punctuation to
None when you run BARD Mobile. Then the spaces won't be spoken.

RE: How to make sense of Instagram

2019-10-17 Thread Feliciano Godoy
Hi,
Instagram has definitely improved on accessibility since it was bought out by
Facebook. It’s a matter of time and playing with it so you understand it. Avoid
pressing the volume buttons while the app is open as it wil take a picture
which you will then have to dismiss (button on top area.)

As you begin to search and follow friends, family or business’s you will begin
to have content on your feed. The rotor has been implemented on the app as you
swipe up or down with one finger to choose from the various actions while in
different areas of the app. Enjoy.

German keyboard installed in addition to English and I have had this issue ever
since iOS 13 came out, in fact since I was using the public beta it was for
much longer than that. I have the keyboard on English and dictate say a text
Message and stupid SIRI interprets what I say as German and what comes out is
total jibberish. Sometimes switching to the German keyboard and back to English
works, other times it doesn’t. I have even gone so far as to turn off dictation
and turn off Hey SIRI which essentially turns SIRI off and it warns you that
all data accumulated on Apple servers about your speaking habits will be
deleted, I went ahead and then re-enabled everything with no effect. I don’t
think I have ever encountered the reverse, e.g. if my keyboard is on German it
seems to interpret things in German, but then again I don’t use it as often.

If I use SIRI to say Text so and so and then speak the message in English it
usually works fine, it’s just when I actually use dictation in an edit field
where it messes up. I wonder if this only happens to Voiceover users since I
think if it were a wide spread issue one would have heard about it in the
mainstream tech press.

Question, is this with the default voice enabled only?

I know that sometimes I can have funky things happen with my default English
language voice, but if I switch the language to English which I also have in my
language rotor aside from it being my default, then that works fine.

I’m still on V 21.4.1, but plan on upgrading since it sounds like that nasty
phone call bug was finally addressed. I may just upgrade on my secondary phone
just to see first.

I wonder if this is a universal dictation and language thing that sighted folks
are also experiencing…

Anyway, just a thought.

the next line will be put out in another language for example Dutch and then
English or French so that that line is read out full of mistakes and wrong

Who can confirm this strange behaviour bug?

RE: Are Third Party Keyboards Working in iOS 12.1.3?

2019-10-17 Thread Alan Lemly
I don't believe the below information is correct. What is being reported on the
FlickType list by those who have upgraded is that the FlickType keyboard
problems still exist with iOS 13.1.3 but that in iOS 13.2 beta, the FlickType
keyboard is working properly as in iOS 12.x. I personally am waiting to
upgrade from iOS 12.4.1 until iOS 13.2 is officially released since I depend
heavily on the FlickType keyboard for my iPhone input.

Hi,
I just updated my 6S phone to IOS 13 then updated all the apps. I have now
noticed that in the BARD app, VoiceOver says “space” after any button I press.
This is even true if I am playing and pausing from the button on my Bluetooth
earphones. I don’t recall this from before. Anyone else noticing this?

iPad OS BT battery level

2019-10-17 Thread 'ChalmersAS' via VIPhone
Hi Anna

Well that’s most odd. I’ve been swiping away like an idiot for days and
suddenly it just took me to the right screen.

Thanks for the confirmation that’s what I had to do.

Best

Adrienne

Are Third Party Keyboards Working in iOS 12.1.3?

2019-10-17 Thread David Goldfield
I am still using iOS 12 as I heard that third party keyboards were problematic
under iOS 13? I'm wondering if the situation is the same with 13.1.3.
Specifically, I'm a user of Flicktype and would like to know if it is working
as expected with 13.1.3? If it is not what are the current issues with it?
