iPhones Facebook app Version 252.3:

2020-01-14 Thread Michael McKay
Hi! Folks:

I have just come across some app updates for my iPhone, and one of the apps is
the Facebook app for the iPhone version 252.3. I was wondering if anybody’s
been having trouble with that as I have heard rumblings that there have been
updates of this app which have caused some inconvenience for members of the
list. I will not download and install the app until I hear back from someone on
the list saying that it is OK and it works fine.

So if somebody could please let me know if this app is all right to use, it
would be much appreciate it take care and thank you much.

Re: Weather underground app

2020-01-14 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
Yes I have. I still have it here but it is no longer a go to app for me and
since it’s owned by the parent company of The Weather Channel I always wonder
why they keep both around and charge different prices for each in terms of
annual ad free subscriptions and such.

Hi,

I have been using the weather underground app for a while then it updated
about a while back. It has change a bunch and has some weird sounding button
now. It is not like it was and is not as user friendly with VO as it want was.
Has anyone else notice these issues since the update?

Thank you but I can't understand “.*..**but swiping down to more info and
tapping twice on it,*…”.
If I’m in the recent call list, I can’t do “swiping down to more info” in
my iPhone 5s, system 12.4.x. It must be in later iPhones. I must click in
the info icon (i) into a circle. Then I see the complete contact info, with
every phone it have, but none of these marked as the one used in that call.

In my discovey I see that it only works with failed calls (number in red),
but if I have a contact with at least two phone numbers (a home number and
a cellular) and we had a conversation, I can’t know if he/she was talking
from his/her home phone or his/her cellular.

I must CLICK to call, then I see which of them were used for the calling,
but I must cancel the calling because it was not my desire to talk, I only
wanted to know which was the number used.

What a silly thing, isn’t it?

RE: Contact with several phone numbers. Which number call me?

2020-01-14 Thread Anne West
My doctor has 2 phone number from which he calls. I have both in 1 contact.
When a call comes in from the office, my phone gives me the doctor’s name. The
number he used is in my recent call list, sort of. The doctor’s name is in my
recent call list but swiping down to more info and tapping twice on it, gives
me the number used to call me plus other info.

Subject: Contact with several phone numbers. Which number call me?

Hi. I have a quesion. I used to add several phone numbers to a unique user (a
company) but Apple iPhone hide the actual number from the call history, then I
can't know what was the exact number thar was used to call me. I know that I
can make a different contact for each number, but I don't want to do that,
because the same company uses a lot of different numbers.

The only way to know that numbers is to delete the contact from my address
book, then all numbers associated to that contact are shown again.

Is there any way to know each number without do that? If there's no way, it may
be a good feature suggestion for Apple development team :)

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the tip about adding favorites to a favorites list in Weather Gods.
I just got it last night and am learning my way around.

So far, I really like it and, like you, like to keep track of the weather in
places with relatives.

I miss the old weather feature in the JAWS research it section. You could have
an unlimited number of favorites in that one.

This is a pretty cool app though and has lots of info that wasn’t available in
research it.

RE: Keep your data safe by protecting individual iOS apps with passcodes

2020-01-14 Thread Richard Turner
Isn’t that kind of what I implied by saying I had not tested it?
Besides, a lot of people I know turned off the triple click home or side button
for VoiceOver and opt to use Siri instead because they have a little vision
and want easy access to the magnifier.
Then, there are those who are paranoid, enough said.

You would have to see how this works with Voiceover, it says at some point you
have to click the home button 3 times which in my opinion will most likely turn
Voiceover off.
Anyhow, most sensitive apps such as banking, credit card, PayPal and even many
home automation apps allow you to set a passcode in the app and at the same
time enable Touch Id or Face Id as well to unlock them.
All I need is to be so paranoid that I would set a passcode for apps such as
the Clock, Notes, Photos, Music and so on. If you don’t want others to do
anything on your phone just don’t give them your passcode and if you want to
hide stuff from your significant other whom you may want to access your phone,
then don’t put that video of yourself and the girl-friend, boy-friend or
It-friend in the cheap hotel on your phone!

RE: Re-setting an iPhone

2020-01-14 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
My iPhone 8 does this occasionally and usually doing a restart of the phone
fixes this.
If you want to reset then do so in Settings > General > Reset, restore from
your iCloud backup and see if that works, if the same issue happens again you
may have to set up as a new device, configure any Mail accounts, download all
the apps manually and put back any content. There are times when restoring from
a backup may also restore any unwanted behavior.

Re: VO friendly world atlas

2020-01-14 Thread Ian Harrison
Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately the american printing house one was
last updated in 2009 and is out of stock. There seems to be a niche here for an
educational app developer.

Re: Contact with several phone numbers. Which number call me?

2020-01-14 Thread Richard Turner
I realized after my last message that it could be you blocked a wrong number. I
did that with my doctors office when someone had called from a different line
and hadn't let a message; I blocked it. Later to discover that it was their
office.
I'm glad you got it resolved.

I always use the Last Name field because if I want to have Siri call someone,
it doesn't recognize names in the Company field.
I wonder if this is part of the issue.

Re: looking for apps that can connect to your pc remodely via wifi

2020-01-14 Thread Justin Harris
I have yet to find a good remote desktop app that will work on the iPhone or
iPad. I have tried teamviewer and Splashtop, but with the iPad and bluetooth
keyboard, special keys aren't sent, such as the Windows key, ctrl, etc. I don't
need to browse the drive or anything like that, just specifically remote
control. If anyone finds something that works, please let me know! "i would
absolutely love to see an app released that could interface directly with the
nvda remote addon. Not sure how that would work, but it would be absolutely
amazing
