Mike, it worked earlier; but not now. I suspect David Goldfield either moved
the recording, or that site is having issues.
I just tried again from Russ's message, and the 404 error pops up.
Both times I was using my iPhone; so the issue I'm sure is at David's end.

RE: Buying New iPhone - Advantages of Through Apple or Verizon

2020-05-21 Thread Dennis Long
I purchased my iPhone unlocked from BestBuy. I always look for cheaper prices
I don’t like being tied to a carrier.

Vivian,

I just went through this exact decision. At Costco, The price I was quoted for
a Verizon iPhone SE ((probably 64GB) was $380, which likely included the
activation fee, but not the taxes. When I looked on Verizon’s site a bit ago,
they were waiving the activation fee of $40, but only offering me $30 or $35
for my iPhone 6S trade in. Apple will give me $80 for this old phone. I
really dislike the sales tactics of the people in the Verizon store; feels like
high pressure sales to me. After input from people on this list, I decided to
buy from Apple. I paid $480, including tax, for the 128 GB red iPhone SE. I
decided to get the unlocked version because I might want to try T-Mobile, while
I have this phone. With the trade-in for my old phone, my net price will be
$400 after I mail in and get the credit for my old phone.

If you are happy with Verizon, it probably really doesn’t matter. For me, I’ve
been a bit frustrated with my level of coverage, so being able to switch to
another carrier made the decision for me.

Best wished to you with your choice. My phone arrives in a week or so and I’m
excited for the upgrade.

Robin

I called Apple to make my purchase last Saturday morning and the gal I talked
with was really helpful and easy to talk with. She may the order process super
simple.

Good Afternoon All:

I am looking to purchase a new iPhone (probably the SE 2020) and wonder what
the advantages are going through Apple or Verizon.

I know this will probably be subject to personal opinion and I’m OK with that.

Many thanks.

RE: Covid and iOS 13.5?

2020-05-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This feature really only makes sense in countries or states/provinces where the
government releases an official app which is used by a significant majority of
the population.
Don't expect that you'll find an app which send you a notification telling you
that you should get out of the way because the person who is 15 feet away and
coming your way has COVID-19, it can never do this and is not designed to do
this.
In the best case scenario this is designed to help health authorities to trace
people after the fact and to warn others that they may have been exposed to
somebody who has COVID-19.

Well, I think that the very fact we have the equalizer option in the music
settings, not to mention better and better headsets, allows for a really nice
music listening experience. What's funny to me is how it never even occurred to
me to look for such a setting with the old SE.
It always sounded good when I played a song on the speakers. Not the best
quality, but definitely good for the size of the phone and the sound was quite
full.
