swallowed e-mail

2020-08-21 Thread llumpkin
Hi. Sorry, I don't know where else to post this. I was looking at my
just-arrived e-mail in outlook and inadvertently hit the backspace key while
in the list. The messages disappeared and I can't find them
anywhere-deleted, drafts, etc. Any ideas?

Yes. IE used to be able to be imported through itunes. If that is no longer an
option, try importing them into Chrome on your desktop.
Your Chrome desktop browser needs to be signed in to a Google account.
Be sure the sync feature is turned on, the default. To access the Chrome
bookmarks on your iPhone, download the Chrome browser from the ap store and
sign into the same google account you used with the Chrome browser on your

Re: can you import favourites from ie or crome onto your phone?

2020-08-21 Thread Kelly Pierce
Yes. IE used to be able to be imported through itunes. If that is no
longer an option, try importing them into Chrome on your desktop.
Your Chrome desktop browser needs to be signed in to a Google account.
Be sure the sync feature is turned on, the default. To access the
Chrome bookmarks on your iPhone, download the Chrome browser from the
ap store and sign into the same google account you used with the
Chrome browser on your desktop.

Welcome Marty! I am still in Chicago. I have owned an iPhone since
2012 and have been part of this list since. I believed I was a good
traveler then. The iPhone has enabled me to become an even better one,
all while playing my favorite heavy metal tunes. Feel free to use this
list to seek information that you can’t find with Google.

RE: voice keeps changing on phone

2020-08-21 Thread Richard Turner
Please, everyone dealing with this, write or call Apple Accessibility.
I've been working with someone who has an iPhone 11. Because of her hearing,
she needs the Siri Male voice to be her VoiceOver voice as well as the Siri
voice.
I even walked through with her yesterday and deleted Samantha from the rotor
voices, and made sure Siri Male was checked for Siri's voice, for spoken
content Speech, and for VoiceOver default voice.
No rotor languages were selected, so I thought, finally, we are done with this
nonsense.

This morning, she wrote and said Samantha was back.

Apple is telling her it is a software issue, not hardware, but 13.6.1 did not
solve it and I have an ugly feeling that 14 won't either.

Thanks,

Richard

others, I’ve never once regretted extending it.)" - Edward Herbert

Hi Jenny, I had the same problem with Siri male. It won't recognize it as the

Re: 3 way call on IPhone

2020-08-21 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Danney,

1. Make a call to one person.
2. While that caller is on the line, hide your keypad which is on the bottom of
the screen. i believe it is to the left of the end call button.
3. Double tap on add call.
4. find the contact you wish to add.
5. Call the second person.
6. once that person has answered, there is a merge calls button that you will
need to double tap on.

Hope this helps,

Jenn and Kumi

We used to go to General before Accessibility, but if you're looking for Audio,
go to Accessibility, just a few ones down in Settings from General.

I am attempting to locate the setting in 13.6 which causes a phone call
to immediately go to the speaker phone, rather than have the proximity sensor
make the determination. Where is it?

Thanks.

I am attempting to locate the setting in 13.6 which causes a phone call to
immediately go to the speaker phone, rather than have the proximity sensor
make the determination. Where is it?

  Thanks.

Re: Changing an iphone 7 from A T T to Verison

2020-08-21 Thread Kelly Pierce
Besides locked phones, Apple produced different phones for different
network technologies in North America until 2018. Then, all the
iPhones introduced in that year were compatible with all North
American carriers. The iPhone 7 was introduced in 2016. I have an
iPhone 7 and specifically bought it at an Apple store because those
phones would work with all carriers. Those bought directly from a
carrier might only work with GSM or CDMA providers. Now that everyone
is on 4G LTE networks, the carrier phones might only work well on the
frequencies for that carrier. Before 2018, phones sold by American
carriers often did not have all the frequencies used by other
carriers.

This is why I always suggest buying an iphone directly from Apple and choosing
the sim free option, this way it is unlocked right out of the box.

Re: Changing an iphone 7 from A T T to Verison

2020-08-21 Thread Mike Arrigo
This depends on whether the iphone is locked to a particular carrier,
supposedly Apple has been moving away from locking their phones. If the phone
is not sim locked to a particular carrier than yes, inserting the new sim
should be all that is needed.

If you are running iOS 13 or later, Accessibility is now on the main settings
screen about 3 items after General.
Immediately after display and brightness.
You can always use the search field at the top of settings.

RE: iPhone set gestures?

2020-08-21 Thread Carolyn
You just lift your finger, when it says Control Center or Notifications. You
are there.

You go to your mail app on the Home Screen, double-tap, then flick to the box
you want. When you touch the mail icon, it should say, three unread or
something like that to indicate how many unread emails you have.

I was surprised at how easy it is, have not had any kind of problem without the
Home Button and have not missed it.

You could go to applevis.com and search for gestures on the newer phones that
do not have Home Buttons. You might get a better picture than I am giving you,
because it has become so second nature to me that I might be leaving something
out that would be helpful to you that I take for granted.

The same is true for the Home Page and App Switcher, but you swipe up from the
bottom. You just lift your finger; you do not double-tap.

Carolyn, I have the 6S plus iPhone but might consider going to the XS. Once you
swipe with your finger to read notifications for example, then once you get to
those, then how do you actually read those? Also, how would you read your Email
and text messages without a home button? My phone has the home button.

Hi yes,

I have the echo dot 3rd gen also,

You need the alexa app from the app store to then be able to setup your echo
device / devices and then once that is done and your dot is configured and
working with wifi etc

You talk to the dot.

Good luck and hope that saves some stress for you.

Somebody gave me Echo Dot Third Generation, can I use it with my iPhone8?

If yes, how should I configure it?

Do I have to download any app from somewhere in order to use Echo??

Thanks!

Re: fitbit question

2020-08-21 Thread Dacia Luck
I have the Fitbit inspire, and the Fitbit itself isn’t accessible in the sense
that I cannot see what is on the screen. But the Fitbit app is completely
accessible, which is all that really matters to us who are blind. It also even
shows the battery level of the Fitbit. The only time I needed someone who could
see it was to read me the four digit code when I first set it up. But if
someone else has said you could use some thing like seeing ai to see if it
could read it.

2020-08-21 Thread CJ & AA MAY
I will try again but am pretty sure I've already tried flicking to another part
of the screen, but voiceover keeps returning to constantly reading the time.
However, if no one else is having this problem, I will have to persevere trying.

This has been going on since the last upgrade of IOS, or maybe even the one
before, but it is really irritating. Sometimes I get
round this by triple tapping with three fingers and turning off voice-over. But
there are podcasts which I want to fast-forward so
need to keep the speech.

Does anyone else have any tips on how to stop the time being spoken whilst
listening to podcasts?

I don't have this problem using the native podcast app on my iPhone 11. As Rob
suggests, I'd try moving the focus away from the time or the progress slider to
see if this fixes the issue for you.
