Re: Tribit MaxSound Plus Portable Bluetooth Speaker dimensions was RE: Speakers

2020-11-02 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
What I do, is have a portable 1000 MA battery and if I want to say
listen to my iPhone in the livingroom is take a speaker and my iPhone
in with me, so if my iPhone needs a charge I can just use my portable
battery. Having a portable battery is very nice.

This feature doesn't have to just be used while you're walking around. It can
be used when you're sitting in a restaurant or standing in a line. Plus,
there's just something to be said for getting a new feature like this out into
the wild before every scenario has been addressed. Let those who can use it
start using it while others figure out how to take advantage of a new
innovative feature.

IOS 14 and Siri not listening verry well

2020-11-02 Thread Casey
Hi ever since i have upgraded my phone to IOS 14.1 when I use Siri to
dictate A text message.

It lets me do that.

Then when I go to send the message.

Sometimes it will say what would you like to send.

So how to get siri to listen better and send the message that i just
dectated.

I have even turned her off and back on again and that didn't fix it.

So has siri gotten that bad to what can we do to make it work better?

Re: Ipad: how to jump directly to mailbody

2020-11-02 Thread Dave Clement
Hi,

One way to do this is to add the "containers" item to your rotor, then move the
rotor to it, then flick up or down.

settings / accessibility / voiceover / rotor

The left hand side and right hand side of the ipad are usually separate
containers as in the Mail app. Many apps on the ipad use this two-sided
approach.

The screen area may in fact be divided into yet more containers. This is
totally under program control of the currently running app.

I hope this helps.

If you are using a keyboard, use the rotor and turn to containers, and hit down
arrow which will jump you to the body of the message.
You may be able to define a command in the VoiceOver settings for next
container, I don't recall right now.

Ipad: how to jump directly to mailbody

2020-11-02 Thread Davy Cuppns
Hi folks
When opening a mail with arrow-up-down or doubble tap the only thing often
happening is that te mail seems to be selected,I know the mail is open on the
right side of the screen as it should but the VO cursor stays in the list of
read and unread mails insted of focussing the textbody.
I have to touch the screen where the opened mail is situated to get it read.
On an iphone this is no problem but on an ipad with large screen it often stays
in the list, has thisto do with split view or how to prevent this behaviour?
Regards
Davy

Then after a good minute press the digital crown
That’s the windy bit press it in 3 times quickly.

Then once vo is running open the watch app on your phone and
Following the prompats on the phones watch app,
You will have to select on the watch your language and country
Then it's the phones turn to tell you what to do.

Good lcuk.

Pretty much anything you have on your phone that is accessible with Voiceover \
The watch app if available is pretty much accessible also.

RE: iPhones can now tell blind users where and how far away people are

2020-11-02 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Wayne,

I agree that it's an interesting feature,
But do wonder about how best it will be used by people and I mean all users not
just the sight impaired.

The holding the phone in front of me would be my concern or first concern,
However if you could pair this feature with a device such as or for example the
google glasses or if apple had a device of similar type,
Then I might be more interested in it.

So a headset like was mentioned with Data from star trek,
Pairing with the iPhone feature for distance,
I think would more interest me.

Just a thought.

To respond to the original post, I think it's an interesting concept being able
to tell where and how far away people are with your phone.
To those concerned about one walking around with their phones out, I have done
this anyway when using the Aira app. One of my colleagues is very excited about
this general ability with the iPhone 12 Pro for the accessibility benefits. I
think it is interesting, however I also think it is interesting the new iPhone
is getting a feature that many people are not going to use because they're at
home due to the virus.
It seems like the iPhone 12 in general has some test features in it which are
not widely available, such as 5G and this new people detection. I'm going to
wait for them to more fully develop in next year's phone. I would be interested
to hear any podcasts from any brave soul who has purchase the iPhone 12 Pro and
is willing to demonstrate the new people detection feature.

Thanks for providing an alternative approach to an extended Bluetooth speaker
range. In your example, I would simply slip my iPhone into my pocket and it
would be close to the carried speaker. But that's why I have only one iDevice
and prefer it to be small which I realize differs from what others might do.

Hi Alan,

I think you are thinking backwards, I have a Logitech Wanderboom 2 Bluetooth
speaker which has a range of 150 feet (this of course is under ideal
conditions) and I was attracted to this not because I want to take my iPhone
this far away from my speaker but the other way around. If I want to listen to
music or an audio book I often may want to leave my iPhone on my night table
where maybe it needs to charge, but I may want to go outside in the summer to
do some gardening or yardwork and with any normal Bluetooth device with the
typical 30-foot range this will not work. However, with my Wanderboom I can go
out th efront into the carport which is on the other end of my house which is
also approx 40 feet away and I can even go all the way to the street which is
another 40 or 50 feet.

Hi Kevin,

I can confirm what Joshua posted about the Bluetooth range of his Tribit Storm
speaker with respect to the Tribit MaxSound Plus Portable Bluetooth speaker. I
left my iPhone playing a music track in the farthest corner of my room and
carried the MaxSound Plus speaker to the other end of my house which was about
40 feet or more without any drop in the sound quality of the speaker. I then
walked outside an additional 10 to 20 feet before the speaker started dropping
the signal. This wasn't the 100 feet claimed in the promotional information but
I think it's pretty darned good considering I moved outside.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering why someone would need 100 feet of
separation from their device playing the audio and their speaker broadcasting
it. It would seem to me that having such a range of distance would not be
practical for most listening experiences. If you are taking your source iDevice
that range of distance away from the speaker, you're not going to be able to
hear what the speaker is playing anyway. Or if the speaker is playing for an
audience in your home, I would think you could leave your iDevice close to the
speaker if you have something else to attend to. I'd be curious to know what
I'm missing regarding how one uses a speaker needing a Bluetooth range of 100
feet.

I put my phone in my pocket without realizing that the phone had not locked and
when I got my phone out of my pocket again, many of my apps had gotten moved

the apps were previously arranged on my home screen. I had a sighted person

Sieghard,

Thanks for providing an alternative approach to an extended Bluetooth speaker
range. In your example, I would simply slip my iPhone into my pocket and it
would be close to the carried speaker. But that's why I have only one iDevice
and prefer it to be small which I realize differs from what others might do.

Re: Can someone please give me simple step-by-step instructions for setting up and configuring an Apple Watch Series 3

2020-11-02 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hello. Okay, I'm going to give it a shot. When you setup your watch,
you will probably have a pop-up on the associated iPhone asking if you
want to setup the new watch. There are 2 ways you can set it up. The
first is to do it automatically with the phone, and the other is to
set it up manually. The manual process is supposed to be accessible,
but I have had issues with it the last couple of times I have done it.
The easier and speedier process is to pair the watch automatically
with your phone. What I've done is to rest my wrist with the watch in
my lap. Hold the iPhone above the watch about 5 or 6 inches, with the
phone's camera directly in line with the watch face. The process
should begin automatically and apps transfer to your watch. This is
for setting up a new watch but from a prior watch setup. I would
imagine the process would be similar when setting up a completely new
watch, which is what you will be doing. Though the wait may be long, I
would definitely advise calling Apple Accessibility if you are anxious
about doing it on your own. I think you have the option of them
calling you back if you don't want to wait on the phone.

Good luck,
Wayne Merritt

I also like the Infograph watch face. I have it filled with
complications, such as battery status, time/date, next appointment,
Weather Gods conditions, Noise Level detection for the noise in my
environment, Activity rings progress, sunrise/sunset time, and Blood
Oxygen. I think there are other faces available, but this one has
everything I want. Besides, if there are other faces, I usually get
caught up in stuff and forget that I can move between them.

The dimensions of this speaker from the Amazon website are: 7.80 x 2.70 x 2.80
inches. I believe that is width by height by depth. The info came from this

To respond to the original post, I think it's an interesting concept
being able to tell where and how far away people are with your phone.
To those concerned about one walking around with their phones out, I
have done this anyway when using the Aira app. One of my colleagues is
very excited about this general ability with the iPhone 12 Pro for the
accessibility benefits. I think it is interesting, however I also
think it is interesting the new iPhone is getting a feature that many
people are not going to use because they're at home due to the virus.
It seems like the iPhone 12 in general has some test features in it
which are not widely available, such as 5G and this new people
detection. I'm going to wait for them to more fully develop in next
year's phone. I would be interested to hear any podcasts from any
brave soul who has purchase the iPhone 12 Pro and is willing to
demonstrate the new people detection feature.

Re: What exactly is a wigit?

2020-11-02 Thread Wayne Merritt
On my page 2, I have a Fantastical widget for my next 2 appointments,
a battery widget which shows my phone and Apple Watch batteries, and
my weather widget which shows the forecast and the next few hours of
weather conditions and temperatures. I find widgets convenient though
I don't look at them all the time.

Best,
Wayne Merritt

Re: Buy a new headphones

2020-11-02 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Both are good for music and phone calls, Bose NC700 is having the best
mic in this segment. However on zoom, google meet, and MS team it will
suck. If you want to use headset majorly for online conference calls,
you should go with noise cancelling mic headphones such as, Jabra
Evolve2 65, it is also wireless with boom mic. If your purpose is to
listen music and take phone calls with occasional online conference
calls, you must go for NC700, its really wonderful headset. PXC552
still need some improvements and in any way its not better in
comparison to Bose. PXC552 still comes with micro usb charging pin
which is a big drawback of this headset. More over noise cancellation
of NC700 is exceptional and PXC552 doesn't stand anywhere infront of
it.
