Re: Identifying barcodes

2021-01-18 Thread Richard Turner
Seeing AI does a very good job. As does SuperSense.
The rule of thumb that I learned from Digit-Eyes' page on scanning bar codes is
that on cans or bottles with a label, the code is usually near the seam on the
lower half of the container.
Boxes are usually on the bottom.
Plastic bags are usually near the seam, toward the bottom.
Cans and bottles without labels, you just have to keep turning the container
until you find it.

ID Mate bar code scanners discontinued

2021-01-18 Thread Richard Turner
>From the Envision America web site:
ITEM DISCONTINUED
[dave-raistrick-president-EnVision-Americ]

To all our friends and customers:

For over twenty five years the i.d. mate has provided invaluable assistance in
identifying and getting information about products of all types. We at EVA are
saddened to announce that the i.d. mate brand bar code scanner is being
discontinued. Lack of parts availability has contributed to the decision to
retire this good friend to many.

Current users of i.d. mate should rest assured database updates will be
available long term. For those who own an i.d. mate Galaxy, your warranty will
be in full force and we have parts to repair any Galaxy device into the
foreseeable future. Unfortunately, other models of the i.d. mate can no longer
be supported for repair or parts.

We do still have i.d. mate Galaxy’s remaining in stock but we expect these may
not last through the end of March. Sales for the remaining stock is
first-come-first-serve for purchases by government, dealer, and individual
private pay. Payment plans will no longer be offered due to the limited
availability.

Thank you all for the love, support and loyalty you have shown for the i.d.
mate these past 25 years. We hope that the product has provided great value to
all the lives it has touched.

With Sincerest Appreciation,

David Raistrick

President, En-Vision America

Re: Facebook and messenger apps for mac

2021-01-18 Thread Jen .
Hi,
Do you use the regular Facebook page or what Facebook site do you use to access
it and what do you use for messenger just the messenger that is built-in to the
main Facebook page or what.
My MacBook is new so I am trying to learn everything I can about it and what
apps are good to download.

2021-01-18 Thread l . d . ethier23
Hello Anisio,

I try to explain as better as I can:
In calendar, in bottom, you activate calendar.
In icloud calendar, you choose the one you wish to use and you flic up to
activate more info.
In that new window, you will be able to add new persons entring their e-mail.
If you prefert, you can add a new calendar befor in the last window in bottom.
Before, be sure that calendar is select in settings/your name/icloud.
hope it helps

Re: Facebook and messenger apps for mac

2021-01-18 Thread Daniel MacDonald
hi Jenn,

Their is a Facebook Messenger app for the mac. It is sluggish and slow and I do
not recommend it. The best way in my opinion is to use either Safari, Chrome or
Edge. With edge being the best option. Chrome updates a lot, and sometimes
brakes Facebook access. Safari works well, but video and voice calling is not
supported. So edge is the best.

Very true. I've started recording more than once by mistake without realizing

But one thing to check when doing it this way is that the recording doesn't
just stop

I've had this happen for a number of things I've recorded and I can't figure
out why.

But still it is a good option

Hi Mary. If you have an Apple Watch, I would personally use Just Press Record.
Since the watch is on your wrist you don't have to worry about where you place
your iPhone as long as it's within range of your watch. JMO.

OK.
It actually does a very fine job recording.
Since you are experienced with this app, could you give a brief explanation of
marking sections?

I’m feeling lazy and asking before I have really tried, but there you have it,

Richard, I have been using the app for 2 years. The app is fully accessible
with voiceover, meaning that all buttons are labelled. The interface is easy to
navigate & use. For the things that I listed that I do with the app, The Free
version without the in-app purchases works for me. It works great for recording
doctor appointments & meetings, because sections can be marked for easy
reference. The app is free, why not download & try it out for yourself.

In reading about the Twisted Wave app, one comment was that it had a difficult
interface.
And if you want full functionality for other formats and/or exporting there are
In-App Purchases

1. unlock all editing functionalities$5.99
2. unlock all export options$3.99

Well, I am kind of inclined to use the phone, mostly because I’m not real sure
how it’s going to work on the watch. Of course I’m not sure how it will work on
the phone either, but I know I have more space there, and I would think the
phone would perhaps pick up better than the watch. I was just looking in the
app, and I noticed that there are some setting choices such as recording from
iPhone or stereo microphones, and I assume that by stereo microphones, they
don’t mean that the iPhone has to, although I thought you could now record and
stereo from the iPhone with its internals, so I’m confused.
Also, you can pick your storage location. And one of the choices there is
legacy in app only. Or you can say on my iPhone or iCloud drive. What is this
legacy in app only? What are its limitations? Also, I haven’t found a place to
turn off transcriptions. I see transcription language, which is English. So
maybe if I go in there there will be an off setting. Or an off language, so to
speak.

Hi Mary. If you have an Apple Watch, I would personally use Just Press Record.
Since the watch is on your wrist you don't have to worry about where you place
your iPhone as long as it's within range of your watch. JMO.

I think I will.
I don’t need another recording app, but the marking of sections sounds very
interesting.
Thanks,

Or an off language, so to
speak.

The iPhone 12 I would absolutely not buy especially since we are already a
third into the next upgrade cycle and from all I read the iphone 13 will be the
phone to get not only with respect to better 5G technology but also quite
likely with both Face Id and Touch Id for authentication and Lidar support on
