Re: Finding Apple Id Password

2021-05-31 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
One trick is, whenever you change your apple ID password, to manually type it
into keychain's saved passwords or sign in to apple.com on the web and let
keychain remember your password. Then you are covered.

Re: looking for an accessible food ordering app

2021-05-31 Thread Andy Baracco
Another alternative is to see if your favorite restaurants offer delivery
through their own app or web site. The advantage here is that the food is
usually cheaper because the restaurants don't have to pay those exorbitant
commissions to the delivery services. If you really like pizza there is an app
called Slice which offers delivery from local pizza places in your area.
Because it is a joint venture of the pizza restaurants, prices are less than if
you ordered the same pizza via the delivery services.

Re: looking for an accessible food ordering app

i have also used Post Mates. Their layout is a little different, but
manageable, and they offer many perks if you join their unlimited plan. I don't
know how long they will be around because they were bought out by Uber a few
months ago. The accessibility of Grub Hub varies. There was a time when they
were very accessible, and then it was broken for a long time. I understand
that it improved, but when I updated apps the other day I noticed that there
was a note saying that they had redesigned their interface, so that often means
trouble. These apps are updated frequently, often once or twice a week, so you
never know whether the change will improve or break accessibility.

I have successfully placed two orders with grubhub. There are a couple
things I don’t like about it. 1. I don’t like the way tips are handled. Even
though there is an option for custom tip, I have yet to figure out how to enter
one and get it accepted. So, I feel that I have had to tip higher than I might
prefer to do. And, no, I am no cheap scate. Lolol. I also think they have a
minimum order of $12.00 instead of $10.00 like doordash.

Hi list.
I have an iphone 8 running ios 14.4.2.
Last night I noticed that for some reason my screen had become less sensitive
it was fine earlier in the day but as of late last night and this morning
sometimes I have to double tap on things on the screen three or four times
before it’ll open them up this seems to mainly happen on the home screen and
particularly the fourth column of icons it also is affecting my MBraille app I
can hardly use it it’s not recognizing what I am typing in it also is affecting
messages particularly when I try to paste stuff into the text field it’s not
recognizing the turn of the rotor gesture as easily does anyone know what is
going on have I put on or turned on some sort of setting that needs to be
turned off it’s really weird because the rotor gesture works just fine in the
email app I just tried it and it worked perfectly but it doesn’t in the
messaging app I have tried turning voiceover on and off as well as shutting
down the phone multiple times it hasn’t fix the issue any ideas

That would have been exactly my suggestion as well except that if I think my
screen is dirty I am less picky when it comes to what I use, if I have nothing
else at hand I make my hand wet, rub it over the phone screen (or let a bit of
water drip on the screen from my wet hands) and then clean it off on my shirt,
a towel, Kleenex or piece of paper towel. I have a glass screen protector on my
phone and I am really not very careful, if it gets scratched I can always put
on a new one for a few bucks.

Try cleaning the screen with a lint-free microfiber cloth, maybe a tiny bit
damp, but no cleaning solutions.

It sounds like your finger oils have built up to the point of it needing to be

Subject: Strange sensitivity issue with my iphone 8.

Hi list.
I have an iphone 8 running ios 14.4.2.
Last night I noticed that for some reason my screen had become less sensitive
it was fine earlier in the day but as of late last night and this morning
sometimes I have to double tap on things on the screen three or four times
before it'll open them up this seems to mainly happen on the home screen and
particularly the fourth column of icons it also is affecting my MBraille app I
can hardly use it it's not recognizing what I am typing in it also is affecting
messages particularly when I try to paste stuff into the text field it's not
recognizing the turn of the rotor gesture as easily does anyone know what is
going on have I put on or turned on some sort of setting that needs to be
turned off it's really weird because the rotor gesture works just fine in the
email app I just tried it and it worked perfectly but it doesn't in the
messaging app I have tried turning voiceover on and off as well as shutting
down the phone multiple times it hasn't fix the issue any ideas

Not sure about the meta data, but yes, you can sync audio books, movies to VLC,
even things to iBooks, kindle, and Apple Music. I have over 3000 ring tone and
alerts synced to my phone, makes it easy to have lot to choose from.

i use a app on the Mac called WALTR PRO
If you don’t wanna spend the 50 bucks for that app, that is 100 percent
accessible. Follow these directions 1. Connect your iPone/iPad to your Mac
with the USB charging cable.
2. Open the window where the custom ring-tone resides.
3. Press cmd-n to open a second Finder window where you select your iPhone
from the Sidebar.
4. Navigate to the window where the custom ring-tone resides. You can use the
Window Chooser or cmd-accent to get there.
5. Interact with the table or browser and navigate to the tone. Do not use
arrow navigation, but do use VO-navigation.
6. Once you are at the tone, press VO-cmd-f5 to route the mouse to the VO
location. You may need to include the fn key as well.
7. Press VO-cmd-shift-space to invoke the mouse-down action.
8. Use the Window Chooser to navigate to the iPhone window.
9. Navigate to the item that announces the name of your iPhone/iPad, how much
space is used and its charge level. On mine, it's the item that's one VO-right
after the edit field with my iPhone/iPad name in it.
10. Press VO-cmd-shift-f5 to route the mouse to the VO location. Again, you
may need to add the fn key to this combination.
11. Press VO-cmd-shift-space to toggle the mouse-up action.

This drops the tone and will immediately copy it to your iPhone. It will show
up in the tones section of Sounds & Haptics for your use.

I was prompted to change my password a few months ago and I thought I changed
it to something I would remember--yes, I can't remember it! Is there a way to
find out what my Apple Id password is? I googled the question and found that I
should have been able to find it on my Mac, but that didn't work, so I'm back
to my iPhone.

2021-05-31 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I've got loads of ring tones on my iPhone myself. I can use iTunes
pretty well to get them to my iPhone. Sometimes it works better then
other times.

Hi,
I’ve been fighting trying to get 600 plus ringtones from my mac onto my iPhone.
I have mac OS 10.15 catalina, what’s the easiest way to do this?
Thanks for any help.

RE: looking for an accessible food ordering app

2021-05-31 Thread kitty hevener
I have successfully placed two orders with grubhub. There are a couple things
I don’t like about it. 1. I don’t like the way tips are handled. Even though
there is an option for custom tip, I have yet to figure out how to enter one
and get it accepted. So, I feel that I have had to tip higher than I might
prefer to do. And, no, I am no cheap scate. Lolol. I also think they have a
minimum order of $12.00 instead of $10.00 like doordash.

RE: help getting ringtones onto iPhone from mac

2021-05-31 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Cliph,

I'm just wondering about this app on your mac you speak of,

Will it work also with audio books,
And more to the point will it let you edit metadata for mp3 files be they
audiobooks or music files.

I'm looking for a simple option to do this on my mac as they've taken the
ability to edit the metadata away from within the books app

It was in iTunes but as we know that is now dead.

Cheers for any info on this

Regards,

Simon F

i use a app on the Mac called WALTR PRO

You will have to reset it as unless you wrote it down for yourself; you won't
find it elsewhere.
If it was that easy to get, no one's password would be worth anything.

Finding Apple Id Password

2021-05-31 Thread Marcia Yale
I was prompted to change my password a few months ago and I thought I
changed it to something I would remember--yes, I can't remember it! Is there
a way to find out what my Apple Id password is? I googled the question and
found that I should have been able to find it on my Mac, but that didn't
work, so I'm back to my iPhone.

Re: Strange sensitivity issue with my iphone 8.

2021-05-31 Thread Barbara Stahl
So I use an otterbox case on my Iphone 8. I had tried cleaning the outside of
this case with no success, but I decided to try removing the case and cleaning
the phone itself. So I removed the case and cleaned the actual phone screen
with a soft cloth then I cleaned the inside of the case itself. and replaced
the case on the phone. It appears to have worked. I guess the inside was dirty
somehow. Now things seem to be back to normal.
Thanks so much for the suggestions. I have never had anything like this happen
before and I've gone months without cleaning the inside of the case. But now I
know what to do if this problem pops up again.
Thanks!!

877-204-3930 is the Apple accessibility number in NorthAmerica if you are here,
they could do a screen share and see exactly what is going on.

and I just tried it now and I’m still getting the same issues it’s really
strange I also can’t locate the icons in the fourth column on my home screen
unless I swipe up the columns from the bottom if I go from left to right along
the icons it’ll read all but the fourth column

Hi,
Do these headphones have an app for adjusting settings? If so, is it completely

Thanks.

RE: Strange sensitivity issue with my iphone 8.

2021-05-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Since I have no vision, not even light perception, the lenses are not
important except that polarized do seem to be better than
non-polarized.

The Tempo seems to be highly recommended by list members. However I
noticed that the older alto has two features not mentioned in any of
the newer models:
Integrated microphone
Multi-directional motion sensor

Do the newer models have microphones for taking calls or giving
commands to the phone?
What is the advantage of a multidirectional motion sensor, either in
general or for me as a blind user?
I hope someone has tried the alto and knows what this does.

Thank you in advance for your help, as well as for bearing with me on

When the call comes in
You should only need to press the little button on the right arm of the
frames and it should answer the call for you.

that is one side I have not figured out. I believe it is possibly the
bluetooth that causes the problem. I hear the tone in the frames but
sometimes when I answer the call switches back to the phones. I have heard
others talk about the same thing happening with any of their bluethoot
speakers.

In my opinion there is no doubt that the Frames are much superior to the
Aftershocks.
Now, a question. When my phone rings the sound does not come through the
Frames speakers? Is this normal or is there some setting I need to make?

Thanks,
Marie

Hi,

I have had the altos, and I bought the tempos as well. They are definitely
more pricy, but they are worth it. They have all of the microphones and
multi-directional censor. They are so awesome. I also tried someone else's
after shocks, and I hands down like my frames better. I am also a totally
blind person.

I am a month behind in reading mail from this list. Hope you will
forgive me for asking questions on Bose Frames.
I didn't know about them and am absolutely fascinated by the idea! I
want headphones I can wear while walking outside that would allow me
to listen to GPS directions from my phone as well as sounds in the
environment. The open ear technology sounds like it will do that.

Since I have no vision, not even light perception, the lenses are not
important except that polarized do seem to be better than non-polarized.

Thank you in advance for your help, as well as for bearing with me on
this subject.
