Re: accessibile security systems that are compatibole with the Iphone 8?

2021-06-19 Thread Ken Brown
I don’t know if Ring is available in Canada. If you get the complete ring
system which comes with sensors and camera’s and keypad, you will spend about
$200 to $300 depending on the exact system you choose. If you are patient and
look around you can sometimes find it on sale much cheaper. Like right now
Amazon is having its Prime day on Monday and I’m pretty sure the systems will
be on sale. So I guess you would have to check the Ring website witch is
ring.com and see if they are available outside the U.S.

Hi, Jenny,

I've been taking Uber and Lyft for years, and the usual way of notifying me
that my ride was scheduled is through my email app. I love taking both of
these ride-sharing services and find that they increase my independence because
I don't have to ask a family member or a friend to take me anywhere.

Hope this helps and good luck using the app!

You can't just say Hey Google or Okay Google from within the app? I can't if
the assistant is still giving information, but once it is no longer speaking, I
can say either of those, then I hear the beep, and then I can ask further
questions. I'm thinking that perhaps I couldn't do this at one time for some
reason, but I am able to do so now. I'm not using a Siri shortcut, though, as I
either find the app and go into it directly or just ask Siri to launch it for
me. I can also find the mic button and double tap it, but I'm usually too lazy
to do that.

Hi,

My family and I just bought a house and we want to install a security system.
I'm looking for one that is accessible and that I can use with my Iphone and
that the keypad for the system is accessible. Is the Ring security system
accessible. I've also heard Vivent (not sure of the spelling) is accessible,
but not sure if this one is as good based on some reviews I've read.

thanks,

RE: Apple Music Spacial Audio is here

2021-06-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Not just any song ever created will suddenly andmagically play in Dolby Atmos
format, songs have to be recorded this way just as movies have to be produced
using Dolby Atmos. Since Apple used a 1971 song from Marvin Gaye as an example
it would appear that songs can be remastered with Dolby Atmos technology, but
that of course will take time and I would not expect that every song in Apple's
75 Million song library will be remastered.

And here a more detailed explanation from an article I found online:

Apple is bringing Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos to Apple Music.
Dolby Atmos is a revolutionary, immersive audio experience that enables artists
to mix music so the sound comes from all around and from above. By default,
Apple Music will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods and Beats
headphones with an H1 or W1 chip, as well as the built-in speakers in the
latest versions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Music will be adding new Dolby
Atmos tracks constantly and will be curating a special set of Dolby Atmos
playlists to help listeners find the music they love. In addition, albums that
are available in Dolby Atmos will have a badge on the detail page for easy
discovery.
At launch, subscribers can enjoy thousands of songs in Spatial Audio from some
of the world’s biggest artists and music across all genres, including hip-hop,
country, Latin, pop, and classical. Apple Music is working with artists and
labels to add new releases and the best catalog tracks, as more artists begin
to create music specifically for the Spatial Audio experience. Together, Apple
Music and Dolby are making it easy for musicians, producers, and mix engineers
to create songs in Dolby Atmos. Initiatives include doubling the number of
Dolby-enabled studios in major markets, offering educational programs, and
providing resources to independent artists.

I also like the new dolby audio. What I don’t get, and maybe I’m missing
something. When I listen to a song that I’ve previously downloaded, shouldn’t
it also play using the new dolby surround sound?

I’ve set it to dolby on automatically in settings, but I noticed a difference
at first, but now, music sounds the same whether I turn dolby on or off, just
to experiment. I am using he Beats Solo headphones.

I’d appreciate any advice.

Hello,

I am not entirely sure if this is rolling out to certain countries only and if
everybody is getting this at the same time, but I received a notification from
the Music app this morning that Apple's spacial audio was now available.

I was informed that with certain headsets from Apple the feature would be
automatically turned on, but you can also go into Settings > Music and under
the Audio heading look for the Dolby Atmos entry and change it from Automatic
to Always On.

Once I did this I plugged in my somewhat high-end V-Mota wired headset and
listened to some of the demos Apple has available in the Music app under the
Browse tab. One of them was demonstrating the difference between Mono, Stereo
and Dolby Atmos (also called spacial audio) for the Marvin Gaye song What's
Going On. I must admit it did sound pretty impressive and even when I just did
this without a headset and with my iPhone lying in landscape mode on my chest
just near my chin you can hear the difference.

Hello Kim,

I don't know if this is directly related to your query but I hope might be of
some help.

There is an App called Louie Voice Control. This allows a user to control
WhatsApp, Contacts, Call Logs, Uber, YouTube, Text messages, Google Search and
phone calling with just voice commands.

You can easily send a text or WhatsApp text to someone and can even save their
numbers.

The app is currently available for Android and is available on Play Store.

I just tried this again and you can actually ask directly "Hey Google" if you
have the Google Assistant app and shortcut installed. I just pressed my side
button for a moment until I heard the tone that SIRI was listening and then I
said "Hey Google" and the prompt I got was "What do you want to ask Google",
only thing was that if my device was locked I was told after asking "You have
to unlock your device first", once I did the answer to my question was on the
screen.

I'm not using a Siri shortcut, though, as I
either find the app and go into it directly or just ask Siri to launch it for
me. I can also find the mic button and double tap it, but I'm usually too lazy
to do that.

accessibile security systems that are compatibole with the Iphone 8?

2021-06-19 Thread Dacia Cole
Hi,

My family and I just bought a house and we want to install a security
system. I'm looking for one that is accessible and that I can use with
my Iphone and that the keypad for the system is accessible. Is the
Ring security system accessible. I've also heard Vivent (not sure of
the spelling) is accessible, but not sure if this one is as good based
on some reviews I've read.

thanks,

Dacia

Re: A bluetooth pairing question

2021-06-19 Thread Richard Turner
Maybe this is too late. But did you try flicking up and selecting More Info
when it was connected, and seeing if there were optionss like speaker,
headphone, etc?
If so trying something other than whatever it defaulted to might work.
Then again, it might be junk.

Does it come through your ear peace?

Also can you tell if the device has the A2DP protocol which would then allow it

Subject: A bluetooth pairing question

Hello listers,

Today, I picked up a bluetooth earpiece by Jabra on sale. When I paired it,
although voiceOver said it was paired, I couldn't get anything to play through
the earPiece. There's only one button on the divice, and it will answer calls,
but nothing else. I've done a google search with no success. Maybe I have to
press that single button a certain number of times or something to get
voiceOver and other information to play through the bluetooth device. Any
ideas? Thanks.
