The 3.5mm to Lightning issue could be resolved with a $10 or less adapter.

All,
My original purpose in not buying the 'earbuds from Apple was partly price, but
it was also their construction. Granted, these aren't as advanced as other
models out there, not to mention the wireless choices, but I have had quite a
few gradually or suddenly lose sound in one ear, exhibit a crackling sound
randomly in 1 ear, or even 1 earbud set physically came apart while I was
listening to an American football game. Like someone else has said, whenever I
get a new device I typically buy 1 or 2 extra earbuds, if only to stockpile. My
sighted wife has had the same issue, though I'm not sure hers has been as
frequent as mine. Finally, 1 of the recommendations given was for a 3.5mm jack,
but I would need a Lightning jack or chord for the earbuds.

Kind regards,

Theoretically yes,

Practically I don’t believe it can be done.

I do know that it was done a number of years back by someone on a I believe an
Acer triple E notebook, but there was a lot of work done to make it work for
the people involved.

However that’s going back the best part of 10 years.
And now I think you’d be pushing it.

However no reason why you couldn’t try it,

But good luck,

Or check out the likes of VM Work station or virtual box, but again pushing

RE: Wired alternative to Apple Lightning earbuds

2021-06-25 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I've kept headphones from the phones and iPods I've purchased over the
years,

And just gone through those as I need them.

I did give a couple of pair away but the only real issue I have with them now
is that I have a couple of lightening connection versions sitting in a box,
But they don't connect to my notebook when I'm running windows.

So I purchased a couple of sony headphones similar design but crap sound and
they cost me $9 each NZ.

Despite the fact that the Apple Earbuds break from time to time I still think
they are the best wired ear buds on the market as far as sound qualiy,
functionality and not blocking out external noise are concerned. If you can
find them for $10 or $15 from sources like eBay, Amazon or GroupOn then that
would be pretty acceptable to me, I would just buy 4 or 5 at a time and use
them up. I use mie all the time and I'm pretty hard on them as well, just
yesterday I accidently dropped them and rolled over one of the ear pieces with

RE: Wired alternative to Apple Lightning earbuds

2021-06-25 Thread Carolyn
I agree about the Apple buds - bought a couple from a lady on one of the sell
lists. Of course, one came with my phone. Then, I have the ones from my SE in
my computer speakers. When I play music on Google, they make it sound really
good.

Upcoming SharePlay features in iOS 15 and more

2021-06-25 Thread Richard Turner
Here is a little snip from a larger article on the web:
SharePlay even extends to Apple TV, so users can watch shows or movies on a big
screen while connecting over FaceTime, and SharePlay will keep everyone's
playback in sync. Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max, Hulu, MasterClass, Paramount+, Pluto
TV, TikTok, Twitch, and many others are integrating SharePlay into their apps -
creating entirely new ways to connect.

Re: Randomly moving settings

2021-06-25 Thread Barbara Stahl
My experience was just really strange. I got my iphone 8 back in 2019 and
haven't swopped out any sim cards or otherwise changed the physical phone. I
hadn't used the hotspot feature for a while and then I used it on Wednesday and
at that time the hotspot setting was its own setting in settings. Then when I
went to use it on Thursday, it had moved to to the sellular setting. Then after
I had turned it off again, it reverted to being its own setting. Maybe it
forgot that it was supposed to disappear with lack of use until I used it again
Lol.

RE: Routing Call to Bluetooth Speaker While in Progress?

2021-06-25 Thread Debby
Hi Dani,

You may already know this, but you can do a two-finger double tap on the screen
to hang up a call. I usually do it toward the middle of the screen. 95% of the
time it works the first time. If not I just try again. That way I don't have to
look around for the end call button.

Take care and stay safe!

Thanks for that reassurance. I've thought about switching back to a flip phone
because of the desire to hang up on scam calls and needing to use VO to find
the "end call" button, but being worried that the person on the other end would
hear VO and know then that I can't see.
Glad to know I can put that worry to rest. Haven't needed to hang up on anyone,
but am glad to know I can do it without giving anything away about myself.
