RE: Just received my AirPods Pro and MagSafe charger and a 20 W adapter that is a USB-C to lightning connection

2021-11-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Alan, I couldn't agree more, if I insert the Earpods the right way which means
with the stem where the cable is attached facing more or less horizontally
forward and then rotate it down I can shake my head like a dog or at least just
about before they come out, but they block hardly any external sound. I have a
very hard time with earbuds which go into my ear and block sound, transparency
mode or not. I don't know if that transparency mode is that good, but I have a
hard time believing it gives me the same awareness of what is around me as I
get even with the Earpods lightly in my ear and hearing sound from all
directions. I'd be interested to know if anybody actually uses them walking
around among people and in traffic and feels they get that sort of feedback.

I have to agree with Sieghard's comments about the original wired Apple
Earpods. In my opinion, these are one of the finest set of wired earbuds ever
produced for the price. I'll caution that superlative by saying that the
Earpods fit my ears perfectly and provide great sound and also let in ambient
sound since they don't block the entire ear canal. If you don't like their fit
in your ears, then you obviously have to look for something else. And their USA
price of $19 USD down from their original price of $38 USD is a great value
when buying directly with the Apple Store app.

I don't want to discourage anybody from buying these, but just commenting on
what you said about wired headsets not lasting too long for you, one does have
to keep in mind that a set of wired Earpods costs I think $25 or maybe even
$19.99 in the US whereas these are I think $200. This means you could buy at
least 8 sets of wired Apple Earpods for what one pair of Airpods Pro costs and
even if a wired set only lasted you 6 months (most likely it's more like a
year) then it's still a super expensive headset. I get about a year out of my
Earpods, maybe even a bit more, and I use them all the time, I wrap them around
my hand and stick them into my pocket, I wear them in bed and sometimes they
get tangled up, I often use only the ride side when listening to an audio book
and have several times bend over the sink just to drop the left side which was
over my shoulders into the water and still they work.

Hello everybody I just received my AirPods Pro along with the safe mag charger
and a 20 W USBC adapter to plug the safe mag charger into so I can wirelessly
charge my phone or charge my AirPods Pro. Setting it up was extremely
straightforward and easy and right now I’ve got transparency mode enabled and
it works very well I can hear the environment around me and I tested out the
air tips and I actually decided before testing them out to take out the medium
and swap them for the smallest ones because I thought and I had a hunch that
they would be the perfect fit for me given my past experiences with putting
earbuds in my ears. When I did the fit test for the first time, the music
played in both my ears and then the screen reader read that the smallest ear
tips were the best choice for me I knew it all along though but I wanted to
make sure. I’ve also tested out the Siri features and they work extremely well
so far for me. One more thing I really Love special sound and noise canceling
as well as being able to control playback with the click of either AirPod stem
and I really do think it is quite neat how they placed the little button that
looks like a volume slider that I’ve been familiar with on wired headsets for a
long time which by the way, the wired earbuds don’t last that long with me
unfortunately but this actually works very well I am very pleased. I noticed
the MagSafe charger only charges the AirPod pros and the iPhone while it’s
connected to the adapter via the cord that it’s attached to which is fine and I
did figure out how to wirelessly charge my iPhone 8 Plus edit took some turning
of the phone around to where it looked like it was horizontal versus vertical
and I had to place it where the battery is and I actually never knew where the
battery was on this phone until it actually vibrated and I thought tha

RE: Recordings From DropBox

2021-11-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you create a Dropbox link it will have a 0 at the end by default. If that
link is a music or audio file and another person clicks it the audio/music will
start playing right away.
You can change this behaviour by first pasting the link into Notepad and to
then delete the 0 at the end and replace it with a 1. Then highlight the link
again, copy it and paste into an email or whatever else you use to share it.
When somebody receives it now the file will download instead of playing or

Hi Ann,

So glad you were successful with Pazera Audio Extractor. It has an Output

converted files:

The same as input file

System folder desktop

System folder My music

System folder My documents

It sounds like yours was set to My documents.

Hi Alan,

I copied a folder to desktop with 16 songs in .FLAC format.

I open Pazera Audio Extractor folder, enter on AudioExtractor64.exe, control +o
and tab to navigate to folder on desktop and enter.

I tab to list of songs and press control a to highlight all songs then tab to
open and enter.

I press control e and conversion begins.

It took some time so I knew multiple files were converting. I did press
backspace to get rid of the date at beginning of file name.

I don’t know how to change where the converted files go but it set to documents
which is fine.

I opened documents and typed 01 for first song title. All 16 songs were
there from songs beginning from 01 thru 16.

Example of converted title song:

01 Marroned (Edited Version)flac.mp3

I create folder name Pink Floyd CD2 MP3 and move 16 songs into folder.

I repeated bulk conversions for cd3 and cd4.

I did begin CD1 yesterday song by song and only did 10 songs. Now converting
CD1 using your bulk method

Worked like a charm.

Copied four Pink Floyd folders in MP3 format to thumb drive. I will listen to
Pink Floyd on NLS player while erging on rowing machine.

Hope to finish first CD.

Thank you for this program.

Subject: RE: OT question file conversions

Hi Ann,

Pazera Audio Extractor has the ability to do bulk file conversions. I think
this is easier if you create a separate folder and name it something like File
Conversions and copy the files to be converted into it. You have to decide
whether the time to do this extra step is worth any time savings it gives you.
If the files to be converted are located across several folders, the effort to
find them and copy them in order to do a bulk conversion might take as much
time as simply adding them individually to the Pazera conversion window.

You can browse for and add an entire folder of files to be converted by
pressing ctrl + f when Pazera is open and then browsing to the desired folder
and executing ok to add the files. You can browse for individual files to
convert by pressing ctrl + o and executing ok when the file to be converted is
selected. Pazera will add the selected files to the conversion list and mark
the files for conversion and should move to the Output directory drop-down box
which I always leave as The same as input file.

You can then tab a couple of times to be taken to the File name prefix
drop-down which I always leave blank since I don’t want the name of the file to
be converted to change since I like the converted file to have the same name as
the source file, just with the converted file extension. From your post, it
sounds as if is selected in the File name prefix drop-down. You
can place focus on the value in the drop-down and press the backspace key to
clear it and your converted filename will be unchanged accept for its new
extension. There is also a File name suffix drop-down which you should also
clear.

As you stated, ctrl + e will begin the conversion when you’re ready.

I hope the above is helpful but post back if you have more questions.

Beats Flex Whireless Earphone

2021-11-13 Thread Cris Ali

Hello folks,

I have followed so much discussions of different wireless air pods and
wireless earphones on this list lately. However, I have not seen any
mention of Beats Flex wireless earphones marketed by apple.  I just saw
them listed under accessaries in the apple store. Apple claims that they
have a 12 hours battery. The price is only 49.99. I am tempted to buy
them to check them out.

Have any of you had any experience with the Beats Flex whireless
earphones?  I am curious to hear more about them before I throw away
fifty dollars.

Cheers,

produced for the price.

I noticed
the MagSafe charger only charges the AirPod pros and the iPhone while it’s
connected to the adapter via the cord that it’s attached to which is fine and I
did figure out how to wirelessly charge my iPhone 8 Plus edit took some turning
of the phone around to where it looked like it was horizontal versus vertical

battery was on this phone until it actually vibrated and I thought that was
very interesting because usually I’m used to just plugging something into the
lightning port of the phone but I thought it was cool. You’ll learn something
new every day. If I did have any sort of hearing loss I could totally recommend
this only because you’ve got the transparency mode and apparently reading the
documentation there’s a section on using them as hearing aids apparently but

Hi all,

A friend of mine has the issue where she will ask Siri to send a message, she
starts to say her message and only gets two words out before Siri thinks she
has finished.
She knows not to pause at the beginning of the message.
Wondering what the best cause of action would be to fix this?
TIA.

Anyone know what software converts bulk Pages files to text.

Re: Just received my AirPods Pro and MagSafe charger and a 20 W adapter that is a USB-C to lightning connection

2021-11-13 Thread CHELA Robles
OK well as the motto goes to each their own preference I’m just glad I was able
to get these.
Have you guys noticed that when in transparency mode at least those of you who
own these AirPod pros, when you’re talking, you can actually hear yourself with
them? I’m starting to get used to it and I figured out how those flat buttons
or rather little indentations where you squeeze to control media playback,
anyway I figured out how to go from transparency mode using the AirPods
themselves to noise cancellation mode without having to open my control center
on my phone. Pretty neat! I will however point out a bug to Apple and I’m not
sure if Apple accessibility is aware of the same bug that Simon said about the
HomePod being on the same network as the HomePod I like I can’t remember the
exact wording right now but I’m getting that with the AirPods too so anyway it
was working last night very well. You know it’s the same bug that I keep
getting with the Bose frames but anyway I will take care of that and let you
guys know what they say to me sorry for any errors I know I talk too fast
sometimes and when that happens dictation doesn’t always catch up to me. Have a
great day!

RE: Saving Battery wit Notification Style Banner, Sound Bedges?

2021-11-13 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, turn off any you do not want.

Badges, shows the number of notifications.
Sounds, is just that, a sound plays.
Banners, is how it is displayed on the screen.
But, just open the notifications for a specific app, and turn them off at the
top of that screen and move on to the next app.

2021-11-13 Thread Alan Lemly

I noticed
the MagSafe charger only charges the AirPod pros and the iPhone while it’s
connected to the adapter via the cord that it’s attached to which is fine and I
did figure out how to wirelessly charge my iPhone 8 Plus edit took some turning
of the phone around to where it looked like it was horizontal versus vertical
and I had to place it where the battery is and I actually never knew where the
battery was on this phone until it actually vibrated and I thought that was
very interesting because usually I’m used to just plugging something into the
lightning port of the phone but I thought it was cool. You’ll learn something
new every day. If I did have any sort of hearing loss I could totally recommend
this only because you’ve got the transparency mode and apparently reading the
documentation there’s a section on using them as hearing aids apparently but
since I don’t have that issue I’m not going to actually dive into it but they
do sound very clear. We should see how phone calls sound and yes I still have
my Bose frames but sometimes it’s good to have a back up just in case these are
my back up thanks for reading.

RE: Aftershokz Open Comm Demo

2021-11-13 Thread Michael G McKay
Hi! Richard, and List members:

I have the Aftershokz Titanium Bluetooth bone conduction headset, and they are
the best headset I have ever owned in my opinion. I like it very much. I have
just had to have them replaced with the warrenty as they did break on me. I was
a bit disappointed when I learned that the Titanium version of the headset was
discontinued. I am currently waiting for the delivery of the upgrade which I
understand is the Opencom version, and the titanium whs a round wrap around the
back of the head, and I believe that the Opencom version is the same. I will
check it out when it arrives, and let you all know.

Yes, I think all of their headsets have the same basic configuration around the
back of the neck/head.

It has been a while since I saw the titanium model, but this band is round, not
flat. I don’t recall if the previous models had a flat band but just want to
make that clear.

I’m finding them quite good and the battery life is way better than I expected.

They came fully charged as I said, I wore them several hours on Thursday, and
several more yesterday, and some this morning, at least 10 hours total,
according to my iPhone battery widget they are at 40%.

I am going to be traveling in a car later today for about an hour to another
city and plan to experiment with some GPS apps to see how they do.

I will probably charge them before leaving at about 3 today. I’m running them

Greetings,

Well, after some give and take with the Aftershokz support I decided to go
ahead and try out the Aftershokz Open Comm headset since some people here said
they seemed more flexible than previous models.

I ordered a pair from amazon Prime, and they arrived yesterday.

My wife said I sounded to her just like I did without using the headset when I
called her using my iPhone.

I am finding them far easier to wear than previous models. The sound quality
for music is not very good. It is tolerable for books or any primarily spoken
word material. The main improvement for me is the fact they do not feel like a
vice on my head, and the boom microphone is quite good. The noise cancelation
is excellent.

I put a demo up on my web site. It runs about 8 minutes. At about 7 minutes
or so, I turn on the TV in the room I’m in and crank it way up. You can judge
for yourself how the noise cancelation performs.

Here is the direct link to the demo so it should start playing automatically:

Yes, I think all of their headsets have the same basic configuration around the
back of the neck/head.
It has been a while since I saw the titanium model, but this band is round, not
flat. I don't recall if the previous models had a flat band but just want to
make that clear.
I'm finding them quite good and the battery life is way better than I expected.

I'm running them
to try to get them run down to a low level so I can fully charge them again.

I'm probably going to redo my demo and be a bit more thorough now that I have
had them a bit longer. I will try to be more concise as well. I think I will

Hi all. I'm noticing that since my update to IOS 15.1 My focus is seriously

what you said about wired headsets not lasting too long for you, one does have
to keep in mind that a set of wired Earpods costs I think $25 or maybe even
$19.99 in the US whereas these are I think $200. This means you could buy at
least 8 sets of wired Apple Earpods for what one pair of Airpods Pro costs and
even if a wired set only lasted you 6 months (most likely it's more like a

Hello everybody I just received my AirPods Pro along with the safe mag charger
and a 20 W USBC adapter to plug the safe mag charger into so I can wirelessly
charge my phone or charge my AirPods Pro. Setting it up was extremely
straightforward and easy and right now I’ve got transparency mode enabled and
it works very well I can hear the environment around me and I tested out the

they would be the perfect fit for me given my past experiences with putting
earbuds in my ears. When I did the fit test for the first time, the music
played in both my ears and then the screen reader read that the smallest ear
tips were the best choice for me I knew it all along though but I wanted to
make sure. I’ve also tested out the Siri features and they work extremely well

looks like a volume slider that I’ve been familiar with on wired headsets for a
long time which by the way, the wired earbuds don’t last that long with me
unfortunately but this actually works very well I am very pleased. I noticed
the MagSafe charger only charges the AirPod pros and the iPhone while it’s
connected to the adapter via the cord that it’s attached to which is fine and I
did figure out how to wirelessly charge my iPhone 8 Plus edit took some turning
of the phone around to where it looked like it was horizontal versus vertical
and I had to place it where the battery is and I actually never knew where the
battery was on this phone until it actually vibrated and I thought that was
very interesting because usually I’m used to just plugging something into the
lightning port of the phone but I thought it was cool.

RE: OT question file conversions

2021-11-13 Thread Ann M Medlar

For me, rebooting the phone will fix the problem for a day or two. Closing

Wondering what the best cause of action would be to fix this?

Re: Siri not letting you send messages?

2021-11-13 Thread Julie Dawson
When I try to send a message or hear a message it comes through my ear piece
not my speaker. I have it set to speaker and other information comes through my
speaker as always. Any help appreciated.

Awhile back, I had the same problem. I worked around it: When Siri asked if I
was ready to send, I said, “No, add to it.” This wasn’t the best solution, but
it worked. Within a couple of days, the problem went away. I’ll never know why.

  It’s worth a try.

  Hi all,

A friend of mine has the issue where she will ask Siri to send a message, she
starts to say her message and only gets two words out before Siri thinks she
has finished.
She knows not to pause at the beginning of the message.
Wondering what the best cause of action would be to fix this?
  TIA.
