RE: voiceover speak all simbles

2022-02-21 Thread anthonyborg001
Hi Mike

The punctuation is on sum and I checked out the caption panel as well and it is
off.

But the problem is still there unfortunately.

I think it might be a software bug. Because I updated to IOS 15.3.1 last
Saturday.

Best regards

Anthony

A punctuation setting might need to be changed. Try the following.

1. In settings go to Accessibility/VoiceOver/Verbosity/Punctuation/Active
Punctuation Group.

2. Make sure it is set to some or change the selection if that is not
selected.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

If you don’t have it in the rotor, it is under setting, accessibility,
voiceover, voice recognition.

I am beginning to doubt that that is the problem. I think it is time to call
Apple accessibility at 1-877-204-3930.

Good luck!

Rover.com accessibility?

2022-02-21 Thread 'Kimberly Samco' via VIPhone
I’m looking for a petsitter on Rover and am having accessibility issues both on
the app and website. Anyone here been able to book a petsetter and if so, how
did you do it?

Thanks,

Kim

RE: Testing old list address

2022-02-21 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi

I’m not sure why this old version of the list has started back up

But a few weeks back Mark and cara did go through trying to migrate everyone
from the old list to the new one,

The old account was for some reason locked down,

And at the time the best solution was the new list.

So if you have questions,

Take the time to unsubscribe yourselves from the old,
And subscribe to the new.

Then life will go on as you need it.

Region Tracking

2022-02-21 Thread Marty
Hello,  Lately, I have noticed something strange in my status bar on my
iPhone 8.  It says "Region tracking on, image send" and there is a
little beep sound I hear as I swipe the right through the items on the
status bar.  Can anyone please tell me what this is and why it is
there?  It is between the clock and what says "Orientation locked."

Re: Testing old list address

2022-02-21 Thread Richard Turner
There was no announcement on this list because GoogleGroups banned the list
without notice, so on about January 20th, messages to the list bounced back as
undeliverable.
Only by writing Cara Quinn, the list owner, or Mark Taylor, the moderator, did
some of us find out what was going on.
After Cara tried to get the list unbanned, did she end up creating the new list.
We need to wait and hear from the list owner or moderator about what the heck
is going on.

Re: Region Tracking

2022-02-21 Thread Donna Casteen
Marty,

Sounds like something got turned on, either by you or with an IOS update, in
Location services. You can find these settings by going to settings, privacy,
Location Services & first make sure that none of the listed apps are always
tracking you. If so, just tap on the name of the app to change how you want to
be tracked. If none, swipe down to System Services & turn off those items that
you don't need/want on.

FW: Audio Description resources from my web site

2022-02-21 Thread Richard Turner
Audio Description topics have come up lately on this and other lists.

ON my main web page, there is the following section. So folks don't have to
find it on the page, here it is and the links should be live so you can use
this email if you have html messages on to get to any of these resources.

Audio Description Resources

The American council of the Blind maintains the most up-to-date list of
programs with Audio Description (also known as Video Description.) Here are
some direct links to some popular lists.

  Disney Plus titles with description
Apple TV Plus shows with Audio
Description Broadcast TV with
Audio Description Movies in the
theater or on DVD with audio Description
 Netflix shows with audio
Description UK TV show
Schedules Amazon prime audio described
Movies and TV shows iTunes audio
described Movies and TV shows

Other Resources for Audio Description

Described Movies from Jeff

Jeff Rutkowski is someone who has provided a lot of movies and TV shows
audio files for live streaming or downloading. Here is the first paragraph
from his web site followed by the link.
Welcome to my described movies page. To listen to any of these movies,
simply click on or press enter on the link. If you wish to download them,
access your applications menu and select the "save link as" or "Save target
as" option. Please note: I try to make sure that all links listed on this
page work, and few to no duplicated movies exist but, I may have missed a
few here and there. If you find duplicate links or links that lead to a
non-working movie, feel free to contact me at jrutkowski7 at gmail
  Jeff Rutkowski's Described Movie's page

Audio Vault

Audio Vault is another site that is also linked from Jeff Rutkowski's page,
but here is the direct link. Note, you have to sign up for a free account to
download described audio files from the Audio Vault, much like the way the
Blind Mice Movie Vault works, only easier.
Audio Vault.net

Blind Mice Mega Mall Movie Vault

Once you have established a free account you can go directly to the Movie
Vault where they have MP3 files of movie soundtracks with audio description.
To create an account, go to their main page: Blind Mice Mega Mall
Then, you can use the next link to go
directly to the movie vault. Note, you will have to login but then you will
be on the movie vault page.
Blind Mice Movie Vault

Most TV's now have the ability to turn on the Audio Description channel,
often it is the Secondary Audio Programing feature under the audio controls.
If your TV does not have that, check with your cable company about how to
access their content with audio description.

If you are an xFinity customer you can call their accessibility help desk:
855-270-0379

If you have an iPhone, go to Settings, General, Accessibility. In the
section titled Media, you can enable Subtitles and Captioning. Only enable
that if you want VoiceOver reading the captions. The next item is Audio
Descriptions, it defaults to off, double tap to turn it on using VoiceOver.
This way, things you stream with audio description should play the audio
description automatically. Some services will require you to select
description from the audio controls within their app.

I have two thoughts. You have probably already done this, but have you turned

this, but is there a chance that screen recognition is turned on.

A punctuation setting might need to be changed. Try the following.

1. In settings go to Accessibility/VoiceOver/Verbosity/Punctuation/Active
Punctuation Group.

2. Make sure it is set to some or change the selection if that is not
selected.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Oh that’s interesting that you don’t have Skip The Dishes in your part of
Ontario. I’ll check out Feastify. Hopefully it works in Montreal!

2022-02-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Well, for whatever reason, Google, in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to
restore our original group forum back to it servers.

Neither Cara or I know why this was done so unceremoniously.

It's really quite interesting, the original groups settings are back in my
dashboard and all systems appear to be a go.

Perhaps Google bands certain groups for a period of 30-days; who knows.

What I can tell you is that Google did not, in anyway, communicate its
decisions with us.

So, please be patient as, for now, both lists will remain active until we
are certain that the original V iPhone list is stable.

If you are being overwhelmed with list traffic, then for the next week or
so, I suggest that you make the new list your primary forum, until further
notice.

If the old list remains stable for the next week, then Cara and I may, may
(mind you) elect to disable the new group.

The truth is, we just don't know at this time.

For now, Cara and I will be certain to post to both groups so that everyone
is kept in the proverbial loop.

Your understanding is truly appreciated.

Moderator Mark
