RE: let me count the ways

2022-03-05 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Vivian,

The list I have created is very specific to carrier legacy network settings
that can sometimes be reset after an OS update as they are no longer included
in the OS protocols.

Generally, however, I suggest that you simply take note of any features upon
which you may have modified, such as your caller ID or unknown caller settings
and then check them after an update to make certain that they have not been
toggled during the update.

Mark,

Could you please share your list of things you check in settings after an
update?

Many thanks to all of you for all the valuable info that is provided.

Hello Mont,

Yes, these things can sometimes happen. It is so jarring and frustrating.

Whenever I update, I have a list of about 10 crucial settings that I always
check, just to make certain that all is as it should be.

Hang in there, it will get better.

Hi List,

I got up yesterday morning and disconnected my se 2020 from the charger and
moved it to my work zone.
When I went to use it, I quickly discovered that it had updated to 15.3.1 and
that things were definitely in a rotten state!
When I went to use the phone, it was in set upmode!
I thought I had it set to not update automaticly!
I had it set so the screen was never locked.
Now it locks in seconds.
I had it paired to a Bluetooth keyboard..
It is no longer paired.
Let me count the ways I dislike this piece of dudu!!

No cheers here!

RE: Is Siri the problem?

2022-03-05 Thread M. Taylor
Marie,

Not to worry.

This does, sometimes, happen. In fact, it happened to me and all of the people
in my local area, about 2 weeks ago. I think the outage lasted for about a day
or so. With all technology, there will always be outages. That is the nature,
in this point in history anyway, of technology.

Just be certain to reboot your phone, daily, and your Siri functionality will
return.

I keep having Siri not placing calls. I then have to go into contacts and look
the person up and double tap their number. I have sufficient wifi when this
happens, so I can’t see the reason for it.

Re: Audible collections

2022-03-05 Thread Barbara Stahl
Thank you for getting back to me on this. Yes, I got this issue resolved
today. I contacted audible and they had me sign out of my audible app and
then re-sign in again. The app behaved really strangely after that only
showing half of my books and moving really slowly. So I closed everything
in the app switcher and shut down the phone and powered up again. After
that everything worked perfectly.

Hi everyone.
I have the latest version of audible as well as the latest version of Ios. I
have made several collections of my books in the audible app. One such
collection is favorites. I have 80 or so titles in that collection. In the past
whenever I opened this collection, I could scroll through all the books and see
all titles. However, now, when I select this collection, It says there are 80
or so titles but it only lets me scroll through the first ten. What do i need
to do to access the rest of the titles in this collection? Is there some sort
of hand gesture I need to do?

If you have the Twitter app, you have Spaces. There is a button near the bottom
of the screen.
A quick browse tells me lots of r rated stuff is there along with radio
stations, and tons more.
Not something I'll be using unless it is a chat I setup with someone I know.
But, if I want to talk with someone I know; I'll probably just call them.

Hello Alex,

The Spaces feature is accessed from within the normal Twitter app.

To be honest, I am not certain if Spaces is yet available in the UK. Just be
certain to have the latest version of Twitter on your phone. I am running
Twitter for iOS on my beloved 8 Plus. Remember, Spaces is not yet available on
iPad.

Please let us know if you are able to access it from your location.

Also, keep in mind that if you are using a phone older than the 8, you may be
running a older version of Twitter for iOS that will not support Spaces.

Hi Mark,
I have been using Twitter Spaces on my iPhone 12 Pro Max as well. I found it to
be very easily accessed in my Twitter app. I have a Sony WH1000XN4 and did not
experience the spacial audio that I did in clubhouse but perhaps there is a
setting I have not tweaked yet. I did however find Spaces to be both accessible
and enjoyable.

Hello Jane,

Just so you know, I am replying to you, on-list, so that everyone may benefit
from our exchange. Please reply, on-list.

I am delighted to learn that you were able to use Spaces.

By the way, I recently read the Apollo Murders novel, as an audio book, and it
was excellent.

My question to you is how did you first learn of that particular Twitter Space
session, in order to attend?

I just want to say that I attended a space a few weeks ago, one with Chris
Hadfield and some others, about his life and his book The Apollo Murders--it
was easy to get in. I couldn't talk--was sorta maybe listening during work--but
I enjoyed how easy it was to get into and listen to.

New rules for Gmail sign in

2022-03-05 Thread Mary Otten
I’m posting this to both of the phone lists, so I’m sorry for the repeat, but I
don’t know who’s on which one or if everybody is on both. I’m interested in the
Google announcement about how we are going to have to start using their
authorization system if we use Gmail. I looked in settings, mail, and my Gmail
account under there. I did not see anything about turning off or on the
unsecure app sign in or whatever they call it. I’ve had this phone set up
forever, so I don’t know what it’s using. How can I find out?

I have not noticed these issues with my iphone 8, but I know someone else with
an iphone ten R and whenever she uses siri the volume is sometimes low and more
often, the sound comes out of the ear part of the phone the part you raise to
your ear during a call rather than the speaker. Its extremely annoying and I
don't know how to tell her how to fix it.

I'm not having any issues with Siri at all. Well, the occasional Try again,
but that is simply server overload...

As for your volume issue, ask Siri something like What is the 10 day forecast?
And while it is talking, turn the volume up to the level you want Siri to speak
at.
Siri's volume will stay that way now, or at least it should.

If dictating a message, Siri is so low in volume that Ican’t hear it repeating
the message back to me. Also Siri rarely gets the dictation correct. Also
sometimes I cannot turn the volume up on the Home Screen. Siri
issues
If I turn blue tooth off that sometimes fixes the problem. Just wondering if
this is a known issue. Thanks. much.

Re: Is Siri the problem?

2022-03-05 Thread Dan Yates
Hi Tom and others, while I have not experienced these specific things you
mentioned, I continue to get the lack of response occasionally when she will
say “got it “, or “working on it “, then finally say something went wrong
please try again.

Is Siri the problem?

2022-03-05 Thread Tom Rash
Are most of us having issues with Siri during the last couple of IOS updates?

sometimes I cannot turn the volume up on the Home Screen. Siri
issues
