On the phone with no home button; Press and release the up volume then the
down volume then hold the side/power button until the power off button is
spoken; then you can double tap the power button icon on the screen.
The first two steps need to be quick press and release of the up, then down
volume buttons.

My new iPhone 13 Pro Max worked too well.

2022-03-15 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

As you may remember, yesterday I received my new iPhone 13 Pro Max. I was
originally going to wait for someone to help me get it going, but I decided to
give it a try myself. I did learn that Voiceover was working after I increased
the volume, so off I went. The first thing that was important to me was to get
everything from my old phone onto the new one. I thought there'd be no problem
with this. All I'd do was enter the code from my new phone onto the old one,
and off I'd go. Problem was there was nowhere to enter the code. I then thought
a Bluetooth keyboard was the problem, so I turned it on and tried. Still no
luck. I then gave up on that and went on. Thankfully, I was able to do an
iCloud restore, and it's as if my new phone is like my old one, including the
Tarzan ring tone that I installed.

There was something odd that I noticed about my new phone. Whenever I unlock
it, there's a code that I enter. That's not the odd part. What is odd is when I
touch the screen, the new phone makes the sound that a Bluetooth keyboard is
going into edit mode, and whenever I enter a number, it makes that click sound.
I checked Bluetooth settings, and the only thing that was there was my Apple
Watch, which was ported over from my old phone with no help from me.

Now for the real fun. I was informed there was an update for my watch. I went
onto the phone and accepted the terms for it. Then I got a screen on my phone
where I couldn't do anything. There was no option to install the update. It was
the same way on the watch. I had the watch on its charger, so no problem there.
I then closed the watch app on the phone and restarted it. This time I got an
install option, so I hit it. Then I got the option to enter the passcode for my
phone. Problem was there was no way to enter it. There was no keypad to use. I
knew what the problem was. The phone thought a Bluetooth keyboard was on. I got
out of the watch app, paired my keyboard with the phone, and started the watch
app. There was still no way to enter any passcode, but once I turned power off
of the keyboard, the onscreen keypad appeared, and I was able to update the
watch.

My point is that I think Apple does things too well. If it were going to still
think Bluetooth devices were working, at least port them over.

Other than the above, all works great with my new phone and watch.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

Kevin and Jilly

Iphone speaking random letters when I type

2022-03-15 Thread Star Gazer
I use voiceover and have noticed my Iphone speaks random letters when I type.
This isn't autocorrect, these appear to be random letters that don't seem to
have much to do with whatever it is I'm typing.
Anybody know how to stop this?

Go into the VoiceOver settings and if Caption Panel is turned on, turn it off.

That has caused this kind of problem for others.

Adding Calls

2022-03-15 Thread Noe Villeda
Hello List,

Is there a way to add a call after you've received a call?

I've found that if I call someone, I can add a call. If I receive a call,
and I have the iPhone on speaker, voiceover doesn't always read the buttons
to add calls, mute, etc. If I use my Beats headset and I am on a call, then
voiceover reads everything correctly, whether I'm received or made a call.

I have an iPhone 10R and am getting ready to upgrade to 15.4.

I'd appreciate any information.

SE2022

2022-03-15 Thread Maria Campbell
I don't understand why everyone keeps knocking down the beveled shape of
this phone.  Honestly, I much prefer it to the square-edged mini phones
I've seen.  And, yes, I like the home button.  As for face ID, touch
screen and pass codes are fine with me.  Since I'm not looking at the
screen, the small screen is fine with me as well.  In other words, I
like the SE phones.

RE: Adding Calls

2022-03-15 Thread Richard Turner
If you can hide the keypad while on a call with your headphones, the process is
identical if you are on speaker.

The question is the VoiceOver volume may not be loud enough over the call
volume; or your hand or face is too close to the portion of the screen where
the proximity sensor is located and so the screen will not respond to touches.

The proximity sensor isn’t involved if you are using headphones.

I’m not sure which one covers typing.

As for the alternative characters, I only get those if I let my finger set on a

Have them check that Slide to type is off in Settings, General, Keyboard.

Hi all,

A friend of mine is finding it difficult to type on iPhone using Voiceover,
because somehow it vibrates and in addition, as he presses the letters, it too
quickly brings up alternative characters. I know I am not good at describing
these issues properly, but I hope you will understand it.

I am not experiencing those issues on my iPhone, but I don’t remember what I
had changed in the settings.

Looking forward to your help and advice.

Cheers,

Gezim

Re: Removing vibration when typing

2022-03-15 Thread 'Sandy Tomkins' via VIPhone
Richard,
I wonder if you can help me while you are thinking about typing techniques? I
believe I am running the latest version, however, my iPhone 8 has been behaving
this way for a long time now. when are you still on board keyboard, in just
about any application that uses it, I slide my finger around ready to lift it,
and and presented with the statement "moving insertion point". and, indeed, it
does move the insertion point, or the cursor, not sure which it really means,
and messes up my typing! so much so that I really don't use it anymore. it
looks to me as if the keyboard thinks I want to insert something like a picture
video or an attachment, but I don't and I haven't issued any such command have
you got any ideas, or perhaps someone else is experiencing this very
frustrating functionality.
thanks for all tips and tricks, Sandy and the new boy ZYON

I don't understand why everyone keeps knocking down the beveled shape of this

And, yes, I like the home button. As for face ID, touch screen and pass codes
are fine with me. Since I'm not looking at the screen, the small screen is
fine with me as well. In other words, I like the SE phones.

RE: Removing vibration when typing

2022-03-15 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Sandy,

My guess, and it is just a guess at this point, is that you are accidently
hitting one of the buttons that are now just above the keyboard.

There are several having to do with inserting things like attachments,
pictures, etc.

Take some time and explore that line just above the Q row.

I also turn off predictive text and slide to type in the keyboard settings.

join me please do support all belgian dutch speaking users to send this to accessibil...@apple.com

2022-03-15 Thread davycuppens
Dear Apple team

With the update to ios15.4, all Dutch speaking users in Flanders have lost
their voiceover voice eventually.
Please do repair this as soon as possible. In fact Ellen is a Dutch voice
but with another accent, words and dialect, like you have Englisch voices
for the US, India or South-africa.
There is a tramendous bug because in fact the Dutch Ellen belgian voice is
still there but a wrong voice has been embedded into the flemish dutch
profile and Ellen has been deleted for all iphone and ipad ios users.
So if you chose belgian dutch Ellen, the Netherlands Dutch voice of Claire
is spoken and not Ellen.
There is really no workaround it is a big programming mistake that should be
resolved immediately for the many belgian and even Dutch blind and visually
impaired voiceover users.

Hello List,

Is there a way to add a call after you’ve received a call?

I’ve found that if I call someone, I can add a call. If I receive a call, and
I have the iPhone on speaker, voiceover doesn’t always read the buttons to add
calls, mute, etc. If I use my Beats headset and I am on a call, then voiceover
reads everything correctly, whether I’m received or made a call.

I have an iPhone 10R and am getting ready to upgrade to 15.4.

I’d appreciate any information.

Speaking of typing, when Auto Fill suggests, do you double tap then space or
just space?

There are a ton of settings under VoiceOver settings, Audio, Sounds and Haptics.

I’m not sure which one covers typing.

As for the alternative characters, I only get those if I let my finger set on a
letter for a long time.

Have them check that Slide to type is off in Settings, General, Keyboard.

Hi all,

A friend of mine is finding it difficult to type on iPhone using
Voiceover, because somehow it vibrates and in addition, as he presses the
letters, it too quickly brings up alternative characters. I know I am not good
at describing these issues properly, but I hope you will understand it.

I am not experiencing those issues on my iPhone, but I don’t remember
what I had changed in the settings.

Looking forward to your help and advice.

Cheers,

Gezim

Go into the VoiceOver settings and if Caption Panel is turned on, turn it off.

That has caused this kind of problem for others.

How going from an iPhone X to my new 13 Pro Max went

2022-03-15 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for me, mainly due to my new phone not having the
sim card preinstalled, and I thought I wouldn't have phone service for longer
than I did. If that hadn't happened, it would have been a great day. I got my
new iPhone 13 Pro Max up and running, and there was minimal problems with it.
The one thing that didn't work as advertised was to transfer everything from my
old phone to the new one. It should have worked without a hitch. All I had to
do was enter the code from my new phone onto the old one. Problem was there was
no keypad to do it, and my Bluetooth keyboard didn't work to do it, so that was
out. Thankfully, the iCloud restore worked, so all's good. The only problem
I've had with my new phone was it thought that Bluetooth devices were paired,
so no on screen keyboard. I got that fixed by pairing my Bluetooth keyboard
with it and turning it off.

There was one very pleasant surprise that happened, and that was getting my
Apple Watch working with the new phone. During the iCloud restore, I was asked
if I wanted my watch paired with my new phone. I said I wanted it to happen,
and it did. I didn't have to pair the watch, it just happened, and it works
great.

Just sharing some good things that happened to me.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

Re: How going from an iPhone X to my new 13 Pro Max went

2022-03-15 Thread Maria Heinrichs
Hey I hope this replies to Kevin and the entire list. I'm glad you
got it working. Didn't you say you had a triple bypass or something? I
see how not having a phone would affect you, because I prefer not to be
without my iPhone, I mean I made a mistake leaving it at home one time
when I was in a wheelchair and something went down so I see what you
mean so I'm glad you got it working. They should've clarified the whole
sim card thing. Have a blessed day, too.

Confused Concerning Messages Count

2022-03-15 Thread Bill Gallik
Let me begin here with some basics; I have an iPhone 8, 256 Gb, iOS 15.4. I
keep the Messages app in the dock because I have several pages of apps
installed.

Now to get the gist of my issue; I like to have the number of new messages
appear with the app icon. Right that is not happening. I can’t seem to figure
how I need to configure the app so the new messages count does appear. I
believe it has something to do with the notifications settings for Messages,
but I’d appreciate if anyone here could offer suggestions.

TIA

Re: HomePods yet again are screwed up after an update

2022-03-15 Thread Mary Otten
well, I have no idea why, but my HomePods started working again. The last thing
I did was to unplug them for a couple of minutes and plug them back in. After
that, everything worked. I don’t know why. But this is an ongoing issue with
HomePod. Every time there is an upgrade, it screws up. I just think Apple
should get their act together and figure this out. There are all kinds of
reports if you look in Google about HomePods and problems

No voiceover when restarting my iPhone 13 mini

2022-03-15 Thread Chuck Dean
Hello everyone,
I turned off my iPhone 13 mini today to reboot it, and when the screen came on,
there was no voice over. I had to put my phone under my CCTV so I could enter
my six digit passcode, and once it opened, then VoiceOver started. I’m sure
this is some adjustment that I have wrong, does anybody know what I can do to
make sure that I can enter my passcode with voiceover?
Thank you
