I have it, the iphone app is very accessible though I would say this is not the

Re: iPhone 7 Plus announcing all sorts of unwanted punctuation after upgrade

2022-06-10 Thread Mike B.
Hi Mary,

Try the following suggestions from a query of the same nature with iOS14.
From: Chris Szostak
Hi All!

I know a lot of us have had the really really annoying issue with VO
14.3-14.4 reading all and often way more punctuation than wanted. If you
have had
this problem, I found a solution on the VO bugs reporting list. at least two
people there tried it with success and I have had the same results!

1. In settings go to Accessibility/VoiceOver/Activities.

2. Do a 1-finger swipe down on programs until you hear delete and delete
this.

If like me after doing the above two steps, you end up getting VO reading
no punctuation at this point unless you read by character , there is a
really
simple solution. I had this problem and the following resolved it.

1. In settings go to Accessibility/VoiceOver/rotor.

2. Make sure punctuation is selected.

This should resolve the problem, as long as your default is set to some.
If it is not set to some, do the following:

1. In settings go to Accessibility/VoiceOver/Verbosity/Punctuation/Active
Punctuation Group.

2. Make sure it is set to some or change the selection if that is not
selected.

Chris

From: Dave Clement
Hi,
This sounds like the Voiceover "activity" bug. Try:
1. Go to Settings/Accessibility/Voiceover/Activities
2. Double tap on the "Programming" activity
3. Double tap on the "verbosity" setting
4. Set "punctuation" to none
I am assuming you are running IOS 14.x. This should fix your problem. This
is a known bug but it would help if you report it to Apple. The more folk
who
do, the higher the priority to fix it will rise.
Dave Clement

From: Lielle Ben Simon
Hi, regarding the reading punctuation marks, on Voice Over go to the
"activity" and "set program" and delete this. I have made this changed this,
and it
solved.
Liel

From: Simon A Fogarty
Have you changed your voice on the device?

If so try changing it back to the default voice and see what happens.

Simon

No. Not happening. I’ve been using Alex forever. It works fine on my iPhone
XR. So there has to be something going on. I just set my punctuation to
none, and the stupid voiceover keeps giving me all sorts of commas and all
kinds of crap. Changing voices is not the answer, since it works great on
this phone. So, what the heck am I doing wrong?

I finally upgraded my 7+ to iOS 15. Five. And it is reading all sorts

some which has worked great for as long as I can remember. I just went in

Hello Everyone,

Okay, just in case I am missing something I want to check with you to see if
you know something that I do not; I hope so.

Each year it is my fervent hope that the Messages app will finally add an
organizational feature in which one can move various messages and / or message
threads. This would allow a user to save messages without cluttering up the
default Inbox area of the UI. In my mind, the feature would look very much
like that which is available in the Notes app.

Has anyone seen any info on this?

All replies appreciated.

A Question regarding the Messages app in the Soon to-be-released iOS / iPad OS 16

2022-06-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Okay, just in case I am missing something I want to check with you to see if
you know something that I do not; I hope so.

Each year it is my fervent hope that the Messages app will finally add an
organizational feature in which one can move various messages and / or
message threads. This would allow a user to save messages without
cluttering up the default Inbox area of the UI. In my mind, the feature
would look very much like that which is available in the Notes app.

Has anyone seen any info on this?

All replies appreciated.

Mark

iOS 16 Hidden Features: 100+ Changes Apple Didn't Tell Us About
by Taimur Asad
RedMontie.com
June 9, 2022

Here are iOS 16 hidden features with over 100+ changes on both iPhone and
iPad (iPadOS 16) that Apple didn't tell us are coming to your devices.

As you may already know by now, Apple has announced both iOS 16 and iPadOS
16 with first beta already available to developers and public beta coming
sometime next month.

We have been fortunate enough to have both iOS 16 beta 1 on an iPhone, and
iPadOS 16 beta 1 on an iPad, installed on our test devices so that we could
explore all the features that Apple didn't get time to cover on stage during
opening keynote of WWDC 2022 and tell you about it all here without having
to have you go through the trouble.
With both iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 currently only available in first beta form
and to developers only, we will not encourage anyone to give these a go on
their primary devices as yet as that can result in a huge headache due to
bugs and issues that are still present in these early interactions of the
development cycle. If you have a test device lying around though, feel free
to give it a go just to get a feel and taste of what is to come to your
iPhone or iPad come this fall when Apple will finally launch iOS 16, iPadOS
16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16 and macOS 13 to everyone and anyone having and
iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV or a Mac respectively.

With that said and without further ado, here are 100+ features that we have

RE: what's new for IOS16?

All very good points. I always report bugs. This is natural for me as back in
the day I was an alpha tester for Nuance talks.

Public beta will not be available for at least 3 or 4 weeks. Remember that an
early beta is about much more than trying out new voices, there will be a lot
of bugs, some of your apps may not open or crash and you may experience a lot
of unpleasantness so hopefully you are prepared for that and know how to revert
back to iOS 15 should you find the early betas intolerable. Of course if you
have a second device you don’t depend on it is much safer to install a beta on
that device and this way you can test, but of course running a beta and testing
also comes with the responsibility to report bugs via the Feedback app. I don’t
want to discourage anybody from doing this, but one has to remember that beta
testing is not for everybody. If you like things to work and you don’t like so
much change then it is probably not for you. If you don’t feel you want to
spend considerable time testing out new features and reporting bugs and other
findings to Apple then don’t beta test. If you are simply curious about a
couple of new voices then wait until the public release in September, after
all, it is only 3 months away.

I wonder if iOS 16 will be available for iPhone 8 models like the iPhone 8 Plus
which is what I have. From what I heard they didn’t mention at the Keynote with
models of iPhone that OS will be available on. Great news regarding the new
voices.

What’s New in iOS 16 for iPhone

TIM BROOKES @timbrookes

iOS 16 logo

Apple

Apple announced iOS 16 for the iPhone at WWDC 2022. As usual, this

update is free and the release is expected in late September (2022). The

update is packed with tweaks that will hopefully change the way you use

your iPhone for the better.

aclk sa=L=CCfPHV4OfYtK2ComF…

A More Dynamic Lock Screen

It’s been a while since Apple has done anything major to the Lock

Screen, but that changes with iOS 16. The update will allow you to

customize your Lock Screen colors, fonts, and even place and rearrange

widgets. In iOS 16 the Lock Screen feels more like an Apple Watch face

than a traditional static display.

iOS 16 Lock Screen styles

Apple

Apple will even include a Lock Screen gallery that features designs to

inspire or download. Like an Apple Watch face, you can switch between

different Lock Screens with a tap-and-hold and then swipe. In addition

to fonts, a new multilayered photo effect and suggested photos will be

suggested, or choose a set of photos to shuffle automatically throughout

the day. You can even apply styles so that photos conform to a style of

your choosing in a complementary manner.

Widgets are a bit like Watch face complications and include information

like your Watch activity rings, weather conditions, a world clock,

battery levels for accessories like AirPods, alarms you have set, and

more. There’s even a WidgetKit API that third-party apps will be able to

use to put information right there on your lock screen.

iOS 16 Widgets

Apple

A new Live Activities feature pins what is effectively a notification

that updates itself to your lock screen. This allows you to follow live

events like sports games or workouts simply by raising your device,

complete with an API for developers to use. Notifications in general get

a slight boost with bold text and better images, and the Now Playing

screen gets a full-screen mode
