I would wait to replace your Playbase until next year as there are rumours
Sonos may release a new flag ship soundbar.

Silencing calls on the watch?

I have my iPhone set to silence all unknown callers, i.e., people not in my
contacts. It works very well. Unfortunately, sometimes calls will come through
on the watch even though they’re silenced on the phone. I can’t find a separate
setting to turn it off for the watch, and I shouldn’t think it would need to be
turned off separately. What am I missing?

Richard, have you tried this? It says: To lock your current direction, tap the
compass dial. A red band appears when you’re off course.

I assume with Voiceover you have to double tap and if that works, will there be
verbal and/or haptic feedback since a red band won't do most of us much good.

RE: fixing a compass heading

2022-11-21 Thread Richard Turner
There in lies the reason I said she would need to contact Apple Accessibility.
I have not tried it, and have no need to do so.

I figured the information would direct her where she needs to go for more help.

Having to hold the phone flat while using the compass kind of is a deal-breaker
in my opinion whether or not there is verbal feedback, but sorting that out is
above my pay grade, .

Richard, have you tried this? It says: To lock your current direction, tap the
compass dial. A red band appears when you’re off course.

I assume with Voiceover you have to double tap and if that works, will there be
verbal and/or haptic feedback since a red band won't do most of us much good.

Having a problem with mail on my Mac. I’m still learning the Mac. Assuming
some of you are using a Mac with voice over. BTW, if there’s Mac list that
would be more appropriate for this question, let me know.
Sometimes my mail app will become unusable and says, “mail has no windows”.
Most of the time, if I close voice over and restart it it seems to come back.
Any thoughts on what that problem might be?

Thank you Ed.

I also had a problem with closing the apps in TVOS 16 and the hints that were
given didn’t work; there is no action menu in the rotor for that to work and
that is what was suggested.

I don’t know exactly what the problem could be, but I think I have had that

Sandie,

Have you tried the ?Blind Compass app?  It
makes tones to indicate the direction.  If you start out on a
tone and you veer from that directions it would change the
tone.  It isn't super accurate but it might be sufficient for
your needs.  Check it out.

Mail with the Mac

2022-11-21 Thread Tom Rash
Having a problem with mail on my Mac. I’m still learning the Mac. Assuming
some of you are using a Mac with voice over. BTW, if there’s Mac list that
would be more appropriate for this question, let me know.
Sometimes my mail app will become unusable and says, “mail has no windows”.
Most of the time, if I close voice over and restart it it seems to come back.
Any thoughts on what that problem might be?

RE: Can You Replicate These Bugs in iOS 16?

I hope that the bug not showing notifications on the lock screen will be fixed
on ios16.2.

Just saying it has not yet been fixed in 16.2 public beta 3, but I assume there
will still be at least 2 or most likely 3 more public beta releases before 16.2
is released which is expected the week of December 12 so still lots of chances
for them to get it fixed. Anyways, for me it still works I would say 8 out of
10 times so I left the preview on because it is typically very apparent if the
wrong content is read in which case I can simply open the email to read it, but
in most cases it's still useful. I still use dictation all the time although it
makes lots of mistakes, but when everything is said and one I still find it
easier and quicker to use it even though I may have to correct some stuff.

That is sad news indeed.

I’ve turned off previewing lines because of this bug.

Hi Richard, as of iOS 16.2 Beta 3 this reading of incorrect text in email
preview is still present.

The first item is a known issue. Apple is aware of this and hopes to have it
resolved in the next release.

Like Alan, I don't do the other things you mention; but I've seen the heading
issue in other places at times.

If you have not, report these to accessibil...@apple.com

Hi Joe,

I and others are definitely replicating your first item regarding the native
Mail app's incorrect Voiceover preview of a message with focus. I'm not really
doing the other items you mentioned so cannot comment on them.

I've been meaning to report the Mail preview bug to Apple Accessibility so
thanks for the reminder.

Hi, are you seeing these bugs on your end?

1. As you’re swiping through emails on the native Mail app, Voiceover will read
the correct sender and subject line, but the message preview is completely
different from the actual email. The problem is inconsistent but presents
itself across multiple messages in the chosen inbox. The problem exists across
all email accounts being used. In fact, the inaccurate message summaries
sometimes pull from completely different email accounts.

2. If you tap Add contact when sending an email or text message, Voiceover
refuses to navigate by heading. True, you can use the search function as
opposed to navigating the length of your contacts, but navigating by headers is
useful when forgetting the exact spelling of an uncommon contact's name.
Voiceover simply continues to say "no headings."

3. Voiceover is jumping to the bottom of the screen when attempting to navigate
longer emails. You have to swipe down with three fingers to scroll further down
in the message and then back track to try to read the portions of the email
voiceover skipped.

I keep hoping the issues will be fixed with subsequent iOS 16 updates, but
alas, no luck so far. Before reporting to Apple, is anyone else experiencing
these glitches?

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Best,

Joe
