I don't use widgets as much as I did in Android, for the reasons Sieghard 
mentions below, but I do have one stacked widget on my home screen. This 
guesses what information you want the most at the time and displays it in that 
widget. I find it does a pretty good job. For example, I just noticed this 
morning that my Apple Watch battery was dying.

Do a search on Applevis, I'm sure there will be some articles or tutorials 
there. Having said this, I tried it and personally don't care for it very much. 
In my opinion widgets may be fantastic for people with functioning eyeballs, 
but I just don't like the way a widget takes up at least the space of two apps 
on my home screen. On the Today screen it's somewhat OK, not too bad for things 
like battery status especially if you have an iPhone and Apple Watch as well as 
maybe a headset or other device which communicates its battery level back to 
the iPhone.

loosing our ability to read kindle books?

It looks like Amazon is making changes that are going to lock us out of
reading kindle books on devices of our choice such as the stream. Does
anyone have any thoughts on this?

The Stream does not, and never has, allowed the reading of Kindle books. The 
concern is about books from Audible.

Larry, I'm sure, was referring to using a program to remove the DRM protection 
for personal use that could convert the Kindle book to a ePub or other format 
that could be played on any device or app rather than only Kindle devices. I 
have the last usable version of Codex on my web site with an old uindle for PC 
app that works with Codex; but according to the article I quoted earlier, that 
will soon stop working with new Kindle books.

If you go into edit mode on your home page and tap the add widget button at the 
top of the screen, smart stack will be one of the options. I think if you tap 
this you’ll be able to decide which widgets you want in your stack and what 
order you want them to be in. Like I said, IOS tries to think which widget you 
most likely need to see at the moment and displays that widget. Your VoiceOver 
actions let you move to the next and previous widgets in your stack.

Do a search on Applevis, I'm sure there will be some articles or tutorials 
there. Having said this, I tried it and personally don't care for it very much. 
In my opinion widgets may be fantastic for people with functioning eyeballs, 
but I just don't like the way a widget takes up at least the space of two apps 
on my home screen. On the Today screen it's somewhat OK, not too bad for things 
like battery status especially if you have an iPhone and Apple Watch as well as 
maybe a headset or other device which communicates its battery level back to 
the iPhone.

Can anybody share good resources for learning about widgets: finding them, 
navigating among them, adding them to different screens, ones people find 
useful? I know some of this but want a better grasp. When I tried in 16.0 to 
add widgets to the Lock screen, I was not at all successful.
