RE: Headphones for use when navigating

2023-04-04 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Speech and sounds are very clear. You can crank the volume up, but you will get
a tickle on your temples when you do this. It may also not be loud enough,
depending on how loud the traffic noises are. It won't be as loud as you'll get
with passive noise cancellation.

You have convinced me concerning the downside of transparent mode on headphones.

use transparency mode when I'm around the house and still need to hear what's
going on around me and where I want some better sound quality, such as watching

Another question! We're going to sell our SE2020's. Since I've never done

It is only a matter of time until SIM trays and physical SIM cards disappear
entirely and it can't be soon enough for me. As long as there is a mechanism in
lace which allows for transferring eSIMs not just between iPhones but also
between iPhones and Android phones there is really no good reason for SIM
cards. They might be very small, but manufacturing them, distributing them and
all that takes up resources, there is packaging and eventually Billions of them

Maddening Speech When Entering Text

2023-04-04 Thread Dulce Muccio Weisenborn
Whenever I enter text in an edit box on my 11 pro from my Braille notetaker, it
adds extraneous text, especially if my display is talking. The result is
gibberish. Is there a fix?

Re: Apple Music Classical

2023-04-04 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,

I wasn't indicating it was right or wrong I was merely asking to gain a
better understanding in case I'd missed something.

In my former set up with a pair of speakers oriented as you described I
never had any issues with both speakers being connected with the voice
assistant. It actually did remarkably well responding from the speaker
to which I was closest or happened to be facing towards.

One can't learn if one doesn't ask.

As for the Hey sonos assistant I had gotten it to start radio stations
in the past on a Sonos roam hence my surprise when it suddenly seemed
less able to execute such functionality.

I hope that clarifies.

Robin

As for picking a speaker in a stereo set I think that is fine and when
I recently did a new setup of a pair of Sonos One speakers which I
moved from one room to another, I was also asked to pick a speaker for
the voice assistant as well as for Alexa. I think it might really be a
better way to go as it might be confusing if both microphones listen
and if the speakers are only 6 or 8 feet apart which is pretty
standard for a stereo pair then it is entirely enough if one speaker
listens.

Hi,

I haven't looked to see if it's on Apple TV yet but am now intrigued
so will investigate. I have to agree with sieghard the Hey Sonos voice
assistant is woefully lacking. Alexa seems to be much more responsive
to requests in that regard.

I just got some new era300 speakers and noticed the process of adding
voice assistants differed slightly. It now asks you to decide which
speaker you want to put the assistant onto. What i can't figure out
after searching and reading documentation is if you run the setup
wizard as it were a second time and pick a second speaker in a pair
does it merely move the assistant from the first to the second speaker
or can you have it on both as used to be the case with Sonos Ones?

I know this strays from the original topic and I apologize but if
anyone figures this out I'd love to know.

I'll report back about Apple TV as soon as I discover whether or not
Apple Classical is on there.

Take good care,

Robin

As for requesting a certain song or artist, Alexa seems to work
better. I have Apple Music set up as my default music service in

Yes, the airplay work around does work. Although, I have been
spoiled by the air foil and air. Pollo satellite on the Mac. And
of course the voice control on Sonos. I do not have an Apple TV

Actually I would consider using Airplay to send Apple Music

for now.

Given how many music services Sonos supports and the fact that
an Android version of Apple Music Classical is apparently in
the works, I am pretty sure it is just a matter of time until
it will be available natively from Sonos.

Alternatively, hopefully Apple will also release an Apple
Music Classic app for the Apple TV and if so and if you have a
Sonos surround setup, you could then play it to Sonos from
your Apple TV.

I just read a post on a Sonos Facebook Group that even though
spacial music/Atmos is now supported by the Sonos app, playing
it from the latest version of the Apple TV 4K apparently is a
big difference in terms of audio quality. Therefore I would
imagine that this might be the same with Apple Music Classical
if it were available both on the Apple TV and natively via the
Sonos app.

If the phones are no longer active and you factory reset the phones, I
wouldn't think it would matter whether you did or not. More than likely, if you
sell the phones, and if you were going to sell them to a kiosk, they will want
the Sim cards removed. If you're selling them to an individual, I don't think
it would matter whether you remove the Sim card or not.

Hi All,

I would like to thank every one for their input and opinions. We did go
with the eSIM cards and the transfer went relatively well. Except for the
lack of knowledge on the tech support's behalf. This made things take a lot
longer than necessary, but it's all over now.

Another question! We're going to sell our SE2020's. Since I've never done

Turns out I was using Samantha after all. I improved the sluggishness by doing
a power off and restarting. I hope that helps others.

I now see that I can choose from all of the same voices I have on my phone. I

RE: Headphones for use when navigating

2023-04-04 Thread Christopher Chaltain
For walking around, I prefer the bone conduction headphones like the OpenMove
from Shokz or the Bose Frames. There's nothing in your ears at all. I like to
use transparency mode when I'm around the house and still need to hear what's
going on around me and where I want some better sound quality, such as watching
a movie while I'm doing laundry or dishes or on my stationary bike. I still
need to be able to hear my wife, dog, cat, ... I find the transparency mode,
even though I can still hear what's going on around me, feels like my ears are
stuffed up or I have water in my ears. It's like I can hear my footfalls.

Hi,

RE: SIM Card vs eSIM Card

It is only a matter of time until SIM trays and physical SIM cards disappear
entirely and it can't be soon enough for me. As long as there is a mechanism in

between iPhones and Android phones there is really no good reason for SIM

RE: Apple Music Classical

2023-04-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I never read anything from Sonos as to what their goal for the Sonos voice
assistant is, but as far as I am concerned it does a very good job with actual
Sonos functionality like grouping and ungrouping speakers, changing volume and
so on and that is fine.
As for picking a speaker in a stereo set I think that is fine and when I
recently did a new setup of a pair of Sonos One speakers which I moved from one
room to another, I was also asked to pick a speaker for the voice assistant as
well as for Alexa. I think it might really be a better way to go as it might be
confusing if both microphones listen and if the speakers are only 6 or 8 feet
apart which is pretty standard for a stereo pair then it is entirely enough if
one speaker listens.

Hi,

I haven't looked to see if it's on Apple TV yet but am now intrigued so will
investigate. I have to agree with sieghard the Hey Sonos voice assistant is
woefully lacking. Alexa seems to be much more responsive to requests in that
regard.

I just got some new era300 speakers and noticed the process of adding voice
assistants differed slightly. It now asks you to decide which speaker you want
to put the assistant onto. What i can't figure out after searching and reading
documentation is if you run the setup wizard as it were a second time and pick
a second speaker in a pair does it merely move the assistant from the first to
the second speaker or can you have it on both as used to be the case with Sonos
Ones?

I know this strays from the original topic and I apologize but if anyone
figures this out I'd love to know.

I'll report back about Apple TV as soon as I discover whether or not Apple
Classical is on there.

Take good care,

Robin

skip/rewind is fine.
As for requesting a certain song or artist, Alexa seems to work better. I have
Apple Music set up as my default music service in the Alexa app so that seems
to be a better option when it come sto requesting specific music.

Yes, the airplay work around does work. Although, I have been spoiled by the

Actually I would consider using Airplay to send Apple Music Classical to Sonos

Given how many music services Sonos supports and the fact that an Android
version of Apple Music Classical is apparently in the works, I am pretty sure
it is just a matter of time until it will be available natively from Sonos.
Alternatively, hopefully Apple will also release an Apple Music Classic app for
the Apple TV and if so and if you have a Sonos surround setup, you could then
play it to Sonos from your Apple TV.
I just read a post on a Sonos Facebook Group that even though spacial
music/Atmos is now supported by the Sonos app, playing it from the latest
version of the Apple TV 4K apparently is a big difference in terms of audio
quality. Therefore I would imagine that this might be the same with Apple Music
Classical if it were available both on the Apple TV and natively via the Sonos
app.

Re: magic tap turns on music not in my library

2023-04-04 Thread Dave Clement
Hi, Infrequently, this happens to me. In my case, I am not an Apple Music subscriber. The music that is getting played by the "magic tap" is part of a free U2 album that was included in an earlier version of IOS. The IOS upgrade added the music whether or not you wanted it. Thus, it is music that IOS knows about. This erroneous magic tap action is now infrequent but when it does happen, I simply do another magic tap to stop it and carry on doing what I was trying to do.  You might be able to ask SIRI what song is playing when this happens. If it says it's a U2 song, then this may well be what is happening to you. Dave ClementWinnipeg MB CanadaOn Apr 4, 2023, at 8:48 AM, Barbara Stahl wrote:I am running IOS 15.7 and I have had this happen often. Re: magic tap turns on music not in my library

2023-04-04 Thread Barbara Stahl
I am running IOS 15.7 and I have had this happen often. I think that the phone
is somehow pulling up a youtube channel which is really weird because I have
never brought up that particular channel before. Its just a weird phenomenon
that happens sometimes when you do a double tap.

Re: SIM Card vs eSIM Card

2023-04-04 Thread Mike Arrigo
I still much prefer a physical sim card, it’s much easier to transfer it
between phones, especially if you use IOS and Android like I do. I think Apple
removing the sim tray on the Iphone 14 was a mistake, that’s one reason I got
the Iphone SE instead, I would

Where is the documentation for this app?

Thx,
