Re: Which varrient of iPhone 14 is most suitable for a low vision voice over user?

2023-05-10 Thread Kelly Pierce
Some people confuse screen enlargement with screen magnification.
Bigger screens can be helpful to a point, but they are more difficult
and clumsy to handle. All iPhones have built-in screen magnification.
Most low vision people find magnification functionality extremely
helpful.

I would definitely wait for the 15 Pro if you can. It will feature
USBC data transfer speeds 10 to 20 times faster than those of today’s
iPhones. You should also expect the world’s first three nanometer
microprocessor in a smart phone. This will likely significantly
increase the responsiveness and enable Apple to do more on the device
that no other company can do. Unfortunately, India does not yet have
emergency satellite communication, but iPhone owners all over the
world want this feature and Apple is trying to establish emergency
communication centers with staff that speak all of the languages in a
country. when it started in the United States and Canada, it was
simple with two primary languages.

If you must get an iPhone 14, there are just two versions: the regular
and the Pro. Each has a supersized twin that is bigger and taller.
You likely do not need the big version. The Pro has a modestly faster
processor compared to the regular 14 and better satellite navigation.

Hey Sieghard that was interesting to know. Here in India we have 10 digit
mobile number, if calling from outside India then +91 will be prefix. Currently
we are supposed to get 11 digit number given the population of India! and
limitted service provider initial 4 digits.

Re: BlindSquare

2023-05-10 Thread Lyne
I am talking more about using either Apple map or Google Maps at the same time
as blindSquare…
For example: I Open BlindSquare and search for an address and choose Apple map
for navigation.

Sorry if I was not very clear.

 Subject: voice changed over night

 Hi all,

I am running IOS 16.4.1A. I have an Iphone SE 2020. I was using the
Siri voices for VO speech. However, when my alarm went off this
morning and I got ,up I found that the voice had changed to Samantha
non-enhanced. I was very confused at this since I hadn't changed
anything to do with my speech. I went into Accessibility settings
to change the voice back to Siri and found that Siri voices are no
longer an option. they do not even show up in the list of voices.
I had to choose another voice and I do not like very many of the choices
 at all.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a fix for this? Can I get the
 Siri voices back?

 Thanks for any help.

RE: BlindSquare

2023-05-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
When you say "iMAP" what exactly is that? I assume you mean Apple Maps and if
you are trying to use Apple Maps which on the iPhone is simply "Maps" and
Google Maps together I am not surprised this may not work well together as they
are both basically are doing the same thing except one is an Apple product and
the other a Google product. That would be like running Narrator and Jaws
together on a PC, they will run together, but it's definitely not a good
experience.

RE: Update or dead

2023-05-10 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Do you have a landline so you can call Apple Accessibility and ask them to help
you try various things?
The volume was mentioned, if you have a set of wired Earpods or another wired
headset you can use I would try this, plug it in and see if you get anything.
You can also try to flick the mute switch towards the back, if the phone is on
you feel a small vibration, then don't forget to flick it back to the front
which is the unmute position.
If you do feeel the vibration, try holding the side button for a moment and see
if Siri reacts. You may have accidently turned off Voiceover. Ask Siri to "turn
on Voiceover" if it is already on Siri will tell you this.
Lastly, try a 3-finger double tap to see if you accidently muted Voiceover, but
definitely also simply press volume up 6 or 8 times to make sure the volume
isn't turned all the way down.
Finally, if you have a landline or somebody is around with another phone, ask
them to call your number and see if your phone rings or vibrates.

Hello everyone,
My 2023 iPhone seems to be dead though it is fully charged. The alarm went off
and I pressed the home button to stop it. Nothing after that. Once before it
also seemed dead and I ended up at the Apple store. They told me it was in this
state because of an update. The consultant said to press the volume up and down
buttons, hold the power on button for the count of 100 etc. etc. Of course if
it is again an update causing the problem, I cannot remember the sequence of
steps to activate the phone again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks.

OK good, but, I never said 4 voices! I said that it took me three days to get
the right voice back.
And I use iOS voices instead of Siri and I am in Canada.

RE: Update or dead

2023-05-10 Thread Jessica Dail
Hello,
Are you familiar with the process of putting the device in "recovery mode?"
Based on what you've told us, it sounds like that would be your next step.
Do you have a backup created, so you don't lose data?
Note: if you want to keep your health info & other sensitive data, you'll need
to make an encrypted backup via iTunes on your computer, prior to putting the
phone into recovery mode.
Thanks,
Jessica Dail

RE: Update or dead

2023-05-10 Thread Carolyn Arnold
Marilyn, do you think that your volume is down for some reason?

One time, after an update, I was getting missed calls, couldn't figure out at
first what was the problem. Then I found that ring volume was at 7%; me, with
my hearing aids, no way I was going to hear that. I turned it up to 90, and it
worked find.

Subject: RE: Update or dead

Hello everyone,
My 2023 iPhone seems to be dead though it is fully charged. The alarm went off
and I pressed the home button to stop it. Nothing after that. Once before it
also seemed dead and I ended up at the Apple store. They told me it was in this
state because of an update. The consultant said to press the volume up and down
buttons, hold the power on button for the count of 100 etc. etc. Of course if
it is again an update causing the problem, I cannot remember the sequence of
steps to activate the phone again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks.
Marilyn

OK good, but, I never said 4 voices! I said that it took me three days to get

And I use iOS voices instead of Siri and I am in Canada.

If anyone is using iMazing for windows with an iPhone, I am considering buying
it and wondered if it is possible to back up specific apps on the iPhone so
that if newer versions become inaccessible I can upload the older version to
the phone.

I realize that eventually changes in the operating system may make an old
version stop working but its one way to buy some time if you really need the
app.

Thanks in advance.

Voicemail and VPN

2023-05-10 Thread Loreal Lavigna
Hi everyone, I wanted to send out a brief email and let people know that there
is a tip to dealing with voicemail not showing up on the phone, and users
needing to call in to retrieve their voicemail. Apparently this does not matter
what carrier you are on. For best performance with the phone and the tab on the
far right at the bottom, voicemail, VPN needs to be completely turned off. You
need to go into settings, general, and then look for VPN. Make sure this is
turned off, otherwise, you will have an issue where you don’t see account for
new voicemail messages, and you also do not see voicemail messages in the
Voice Mail area on the phone. I’ve tested this out with a couple different
phones, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone 13 promax, and iPhone 12 mini. I spoke with
multiple customer service representatives from T-Mobile, none of which ever
thought to ask about VPN. I also spoke with Apple customer support, who
likewise, did not ask about VPN. I’m hopeful that in the future both T-Mobile
customer service, as well as Apple support, will utilize this as another tool
to make sure users who call in about voicemail issues specifically this Can
rectify the issue without too much fuss.

Subject: Which varrient of iPhone 14 is most suitable for a low vision voice
over user?

I have almost decided to go for iPhone 14 pro varrient, however one of my
friends advised me to go for pro max version because of its zoom in camera. My
concern is that which of these two varrients is most suitable for a person who
some times use magnification function to look at screen along with voice over.
Is there any special feature in Pro max varrient which is missing in pro
version? and what is that zoom in function which my friend was refering to?
What about an idea to go for base version only?
My uses are, taking phone calls, handling banking and social media apps,
watching youtube and insta.

Re: Update or dead

2023-05-10 Thread Lyne
Hello Marilyn,

I don't know if it's the right term in English but it's a good thing to know
the gesture for forced restart.
quick clic on volume +,
Quick clic on volume minus,
Hold start botton for about 15 secondes

RE: Update or dead

2023-05-10 Thread marilyn
Hello everyone,
My 2023 iPhone seems to be dead though it is fully charged. The alarm went off
and I pressed the home button to stop it. Nothing after that. Once before it
also seemed dead and I ended up at the Apple store. They told me it was in this
state because of an update. The consultant said to press the volume up and down
buttons, hold the power on button for the count of 100 etc. etc. Of course if
it is again an update causing the problem, I cannot remember the sequence of
steps to activate the phone again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks.
Marilyn
