The ones we have use double a batteries so as long as the batteries
are good you can let yourself in via the keypad regardless of the
state of the wifi. A physical key is also included in the box so
failing everything else you can get in the old fashion way.

Hi all, So I'm wondering if any one else is having problems with voice over
and focus and messenger? I have an iPhone 14 pro with the latest update and I
can receive messengers and send them but when I try replying again to someone
voice over reads everything and it's doable but hard to get to where I can send

What all is involved with installing a smart lock? I mean, does the lock
work off of Wifi and batteries? Or, do wires need to be run for any of its
functionality? Also, if it works of of Wifi and your internet happens to be

As Sarah said, you can assign a code to somebody you want to give access to
your home, e.g. maybe you are away and there is a problem and somebody like
a plumber or electrician has to get into your house. You can set up a
specific code for them and even set it up to only work on a specific day
between 8 AM and 5 PM. Same would work for somebody like a dog walker. You
can also unlock and lock the door remotely so instead of giving somebody a
code you might have a repair person coming, but you are at work. Just tell
them to call you when they are at the door, then you can unlock for them. I
use this all the time, we have a local person who does heavy, German style
bread baked in a woodfired oven and she usually drops off for us, if she is
at the door she can call or ring our Ring video doorbell, I answer the call
or notification from the video doorbell and once I know it's her I unlock
the door, she puts the bread in the entry way and once she is out and the
door is closed I lock it again. It's super handy and I would never go back
to a regular lock with key or even one with a keypad, but one which is not
connected.

I'll add to Sieghard's comment that you should leave screen recognition in your rotor because I'm finding more situations where a particular app seems not to speak many of its controls and turning on screen recognition via the rotor works wonders. Just decide whether to leave it turned on or not for that app before exiting. Also, I'd caution anyone from leaving their rotor set on screen recognition. I prefer moving it to something benign like headings before going to another task. Alan Lemly Sent from my iPhoneOn May 25, 2023, at 8:29 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Subject: Could Not Delete Text Messages or Voice Mails

This message is about my inability to delete voice mail and text messages and how we solved it. I am posting this in case someone else has this problem. If you have not, feel free to hit the delete key now.

A couple of months ago I suddenly could not delete texts or voicemails. I would flick up and down and all option were gone. Then I did an iOS update and the problem went away.  A week ago it came back.

A wonderful Apple agent helped me figure out that the problem was with the rotor. There is a feature on there called Screen Recognition and it was selected. We figured out that it kept unselected Actions, without which I could not delete.Works
 perfectly now!

Re: smart locks

2023-05-26 Thread Kimberly Gardner
This is a great explanation of the wonder that is a smart lock. We
installed our first smart lock nearly ten years ago when our
granddaughter (who was a teen at the time) kept loosing her door key.
After the third replacement key we went with the smart lock and have
never looked back. We also have a special code set up for our house
cleaners who come every two weeks and that code works only on the day
they are scheduled.

2023-05-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
As Sarah said, you can assign a code to somebody you want to give access to
your home, e.g. maybe you are away and there is a problem and somebody like a
plumber or electrician has to get into your house. You can set up a specific
code for them and even set it up to only work on a specific day between 8 AM
and 5 PM. Same would work for somebody like a dog walker. You can also unlock
and lock the door remotely so instead of giving somebody a code you might have
a repair person coming, but you are at work. Just tell them to call you when
they are at the door, then you can unlock for them. I use this all the time, we
have a local person who does heavy, German style bread baked in a woodfired
oven and she usually drops off for us, if she is at the door she can call or
ring our Ring video doorbell, I answer the call or notification from the video
doorbell and once I know it's her I unlock the door, she puts the bread in the
entry way and once she is out and the door is closed I lock it again. It's
super handy and I would never go back to a regular lock with key or even one
with a keypad, but one which is not connected.

I have the August pro smart lock. Love it.

Not a silly question. Its nice to have the lock unlock when you walk up to the
door so you don’t have to mess around with your keys. Also nice to be able to
assign codes to people who are coming to your house to work if your not around.
You don’t have to give out keys.
