I did this, but when I went looking for a link it said app wasn't available

RE: FW: Bluetooth and typing while using voiceove3r

2023-06-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That is what I thought and unfortunately many headsets are like this. The
Logitech H800 is not like this, it communicates with the dongle the same way as
most Logitech keyboards which include a dongle do, they use radio frequency and
there is no lag involved and you don't require something like Silenzio or turn
on the equivalent feature in Jaws to prevent the soundcard from going to sleep
cutting off sound.

Hi,
I called Jabra tech support and they said the dongle is Bluetooth.
Do your headset have a lag when you are typing? So say you type a few letters
then wait about five seconds then type a letter or two and do you hear them or
not?

@Mr. Ed, presently i have Jabra Evolve 2 65 which is an upgrade over evolve 65.
This jabra evolve 2 65 also comes with a daungle to connect to the headset
along with direct bluetooth connection. It has all the features those are
present in 2 75 except active noise cancellation and voice through.
But what i am concerned with is that, despite of having a dongle, it does not
behave like 2.4ghz headset. There is no difference between connecting the
headset with laptop in bluetooth mode or through dongle. I just want to
confirm, are you sure that 2 75 has 2.4ghz mode of connecting through the
dongle? I see only USB dongle connection under its describtion. I have not seen
2.4ghz connection in jabra headsets so far. Correct me if i have wrong
information.

RE: Vision Pro Headset and accessibility from Mac Rumors

2023-06-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
OK, so Apple apparently is trying to make this accessible just as they are
doing for all thei rother products. This is commendable, but we'll have to see
what the reality will be like and what sort of uses this would even have for a
blind person.

As Sieghard pointed out, this extremely expensive toy will not be available
until 2024.
If you want to learn more about it, Mac Rumors has an article with links to the
developer session spelling out the accessibility features.
Here is that link, with other links to the WWDC session on that page.

RE: What is happen to the Viphone list?

2023-06-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Joshua, I think you are under some sort of misconception here. This is not a
headset which plays back audio or maybe it also does this although I have a
feeling it does not because I seem to remember them talking about using it
together with Airpods or something like that. This is capable of generating a
virtual reality environment as the name implies and that is why I earlier
commented regarding its accessibility features that it may not be so easy to
make this fully accessible as it has an extreme visual focus.

My problems with the vision pro headset are 2 things. First, the cost, I have
bought way to many bluetooth headsets in my life. I have them all, bose nc700,
sony xm5, and apple airpod max to name a few of the big ones. And ones from
AKG, Anker, and JBL to name some of the smaller ones. I'd never pay $3500 for
any headset, I don't care how good it is. Now, if I did have $3500, I'd pay
that in a second for a beautiful hd28 martin guitar. Next, is the battery
life. The vision pro only has 2 hours of battery life. That is way to few
hours to even watch a long movie, or do a whole lot. You might watch one full
movie with the headset on, but nothing else. I'll stick with my iPhone 13 pro
max.

I couldn’t agree more. I think this whole virtual reality thing is a waste of
bloody time. And there’s no way I would ever pay that much money for this
stupid headset. I feel the same way about all the other stupid headsets. It’s
just dumb. The planet is on fire, and we are all worried about these stupid
headsets in virtual reality. We ought to spend more time worrying about
reality, not virtual reality, what’s actually happening. Sorry I’m sure some
people will not appreciate that message.

iPhone 12 does not send SMS via physical Sim

2023-06-09 Thread Mohammad Fazil
Hi, group.
I have iPhone 12 that has E-SIM in it.
I am in Pakistan now where I am using the physical Sim from a local provider.
My main Sim is from Canadian provider.
I have disabled E-SIM and using the physical Sim for all the calls. I, however,
am unable to send the SMS by none of these Sims.
I prefer sending the SMS with the physical Sim rather than the main SIM.
What should I do in order to send the SMS with the physical Sim, please?
Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Ever since it became possible to do so, I remapped the swipe left and right with two fingers gesture to be the equivalent of turning the rotor to the left or to the right. This works beautifully for me as well as some of my clients. Sent from my iPhoneOn Jun 9, 2023, at 4:22 PM, Christopher Chaltain wrote:

don’t actually need a circular rotating motion will help some people with this gesture.

Interesting to hear how different people work the roter. I find it easiest to hold my thumb and pointer finger a couple of inches apart more or less in the mi.le of the phone and then turn the phone holding my two fingers in place.

Hello, I replied to this on MacVisionaries, but what I’m talking about is for iOs. :)

Two little things I’ve thought would be useful:

A VoiceOver gesture, (say a 2-finger swipe right) in the messages window to send the composed message. Instead of locating the send button.

A VoiceOver gesture to spell the current word in focus. Often I’m on the web and want something spelled out. It takes many little steps to turn the rotor to word, flick to the one I want, then turn the rotor to character, flick letter by letter. A simple shortcut
 would be super useful.

Those are two little things off the top of my head. :)

Take care,
Traci

year, is because there was nothing truly exciting, at least, not from my
perspective. I have yet to watch the Vision Pro presentation but with a price
tag at over $3000, it might as well not exist.

Wow, I do sound a bit bitter, eh? (smile).

Interesting to hear how different people work the roter. I find it easiest to
hold my thumb and pointer finger a couple of inches apart more or less in the

We sure do. I normally do the router gesture by using my thumb and middle
fingers. Been doing that for many years now.

Hello, I replied to this on MacVisionaries, but what I’m talking about is for
iOs. :)

Two little things I’ve thought would be useful:

A VoiceOver gesture, (say a 2-finger swipe right) in the messages window to
send the composed message. Instead of locating the send button.

A VoiceOver gesture to spell the current word in focus. Often I’m on the web
and want something spelled out. It takes many little steps to turn the rotor to
word, flick to the one I want, then turn the rotor to character, flick letter
by letter. A simple shortcut would be super useful.

Those are two little things off the top of my head. :)

Take care,
Traci

Are there any features, accessibility-related or not, that you would like to

RE: FW: Bluetooth and typing while using voiceove3r

2023-06-09 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi,
I called Jabra tech support and they said the dongle is Bluetooth.

If the Vision Pro headset in fact includes Voiceover and is fully accessible, I
would say it's certainly appropriate for this list. However, since it won't be
available for probably close to a year and I don't recall Apple saying anything
about accessibility during the keynote it is definitely premature. From how
they describe it I have my doubts regarding full accessibility because this
sounds like it will be a very visually focused experience where you have to
look at things to make the headset react and I am not sure how Apple will make
that fully accessible. Of course they may have already figured it out so who
knows, but no point in speculating and as others pointed out, at $3,500 US
which means probably at least $4,500 or $4,800 Canadian this is probably not
something the majority of blind people will buy.

Good idea in those cases of dialing asked for numbers is to get a keyboard. I

I need some help, please.

Re: FW: bluetooth and typing while using voiceove3r

2023-06-09 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
@Mr. Ed, presently i have Jabra Evolve 2 65 which is an upgrade over
evolve 65. This jabra evolve 2 65 also comes with a daungle to connect
to the headset along with direct bluetooth connection. It has all the
features those are present in 2 75 except active noise cancellation
and voice through.
But what i am concerned with is that, despite of having a dongle, it
does not behave like 2.4ghz headset. There is no difference between
connecting the headset with laptop in bluetooth mode or through
dongle. I just want to confirm, are you sure that 2 75 has 2.4ghz mode
of connecting through the dongle? I see only USB dongle connection
under its describtion. I have not seen 2.4ghz connection in jabra
headsets so far. Correct me if i have wrong information.
