stopping photos being automatically saved in one drive

2024-02-03 Thread margaretebooth
When I save a photo on my iPhone 15 pro such as saving an attachment which
is a photo or an image it automatically saves into my one drive app. I would
like to change the photos to be saved to my photo app on the phone. How do I
go about doing this. I have opened my one drive app and went through the
settings and couldn't see when to stop the photos to be automatically saved
into this app. How can I change it?

Re: Of-topic question - Blindtech mailing list

2024-02-03 Thread Marda
Well I* have trouble sending links so I would have to write out the web
address and you'd have to do it that way if you wanted me to send you
anything.  There are tons of blindness-related lists. Are you looking
for only tech-related ones or do you want general chat lists run by
blind people that often (but not always) discuss directly
blindness-related things or there are several recipe and cooking lists
related to being a blind cook or a blind crafter and then there are
lists for organizations like ACB and NFB that have lots of other lists
relating to specific topics such as crafts or guide dogs or whatever.
So if you want people to send you blindness lists, it would be helpful
to indicate further areas of interest.

Hello all,
please, sory for off-topic question, but I don't know where to ask and many
people who are on this list are on other lists, so I might find info here.
I used to be a member of "Blindtech" list and it was pretty active, but
all of a sudden I stopped getting mails from the list and when I tried to
post a question, it says the group is not available any more.
Please, does anyone know what happened and if there is any other list where
general questions about technology can be posted?
I liked Blindtech, it has helped me with many things.
If you have more info, please write me at:

Just to avoid off-topic discussion here.
Thanks.

2024-02-03 Thread Richard Turner
I believe that was the group owned by Michael C (cannot remember how to spell
his last name), which he suddenly removed.

I believe he started it up again with a slightly different name on groups.io

A couple other groups popped up almost immediately.

TechTalk and Blind Techies.

You can subscribe to them at these addresses:

  main+subscr...@techtalk.groups.io

blind-techies+subscr...@groups.io

TechTalk has 621 members at this point. I’m not sure about the blind-techies
one. I think it is smaller.

would be nice to not have to convert to mp3 format.

Hello all,
please, sory for off-topic question, but I don't know where to ask and many
people who are on this list are on other lists, so I might find info here.
I used to be a member of "Blindtech" list and it was pretty active, but all
of a sudden I stopped getting mails from the list and when I tried to post a
question, it says the group is not available any more.
Please, does anyone know what happened and if there is any other list where
general questions about technology can be posted?
I liked Blindtech, it has helped me with many things.
If you have more info, please write me at:
maria.orovcik...@gmail.com
Just to avoid off-topic discussion here.
Thanks.

RE: Voicedream not downloading book share books.

2024-02-03 Thread Richard Turner
If you only have one device, having syncing to iCloud enabled may go a long way
to getting everything back if you delete the app and start over.

I forwarded your note to my contact at the Applause Group. I hope he has a
better suggestion.

Perhaps the update that should be out Monday or so will help.

How is your internet speed?

I don’t know if that may be a factor.

Hi, Richard,

I have almost 74 gigs free out of 256 gigs. Yes, I have both emptied the App
Switcher and rebooted my phone. Nothing seems to make a difference. I'm almost
tempted to uninstall and reinstall VDR and start over. I absolutely should not
have to do this, however. It would totally mess up my library in terms of
Bookshare downloads and such. I'm also not sure how much of the folder
structure is preserved with the iCloud synching with VDR. I actually need to
check that I have that on. I remember it being a huge issue when switching to a
new iPhone in that nothing was synching to the new phone.

Thanks,

Ari

2024-02-03 Thread Richard Turner
Thanks Greg.

After going through too many hoops, I got a book in ePub format into Speech
Central.

I will not do that again until direct downloading from Bookshare.org is put
into the app.

I also find the app continually dumping me out of the app when I try to skip
forward 60 seconds, or sometimes when double tapping on the next button.

I wish Ivan would implement navigating by headings at the very least.

This app may be fine if you have some vision, but I won’t be bothering with it
again until and unless direct download at least is added back in.

I download way more than 10 things a month.

Greg, thanks again for your help.

Hello,

In order for speech central to see it, you need to download the book in epub
format. Once you do this choose the add option from the main screen in the
speech central app. Next choose the import option and this should open up an
interface to the files app on your iPad. Now the file might be listed under the
recents section or you might have to go to the browse tab at the bottom to look
for the folder where the file downloaded to. Once you find the book you should
just have to double tap on it to import it into speech central.

It doesn’t seem to see it.

Does it have to be unzipped? What exactly should one do to get it into the
Books and articles section of Speech Central?

2024-02-03 Thread Richard Turner
Just because they are set to update automatically, doesn’t mean they always do,
at least, not in a timely manner.

You may want to go to your purchase history in the app store and see if Voice
Dream Reader shows Open or Update.

If Open, it is current.

I'm also not sure how much of the folder structure is preserved with the iCloud synching with VDR. I actually need to check that I have that on. I remember it being a huge issue when switching to a new iPhone in that nothing was synching to the new phone. Thanks,AriOn Feb 3, 2024, at 12:43 AM, Richard Turner wrote:If this is everything, then it is likely an issue with your phone. I have closed down the app and reopened it again and still those books all just seem to be stuck there and it keeps saying waiting and they will not download. Any suggestions? 2024-02-03 Thread Mary Otten
Have you got the latest update? It came out a day or two ago, maybe three at the most. I can’t remember. That has definitely fixed my iPad problem, at least as of yesterday. I don’t know why the iPhone still isn’t syncing up, but they did say they were going to have more improvements coming next week. So I hope that does it.MarySent from my iPhoneOn Feb 2, 2024, at 9:43 PM, Richard Turner wrote:If this is everything, then it is likely an issue with your phone. How much memory is free? Re: speech Central and Bookshare question

2024-02-03 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
In order for speech central to see it, you need to download the book in epub
