Re: Real estate and rentals

2017-04-11 Thread Ann Smith
Good morning, I was able to successfully set up a profile with realtor.com. I
am in search of an apartment for myself. My question is, what if you were
searching multiple ZIP Codes? Thank you in advance for any help or assistance.

Hi group, what are your iOS recommendations for real estate and rentals?

I just gave Zillo a try and it’s doable, but kind of an accessibility
 pain.

Any better apps out there you like?

 Thanks,

Re: How many gB is my phone?

2017-03-02 Thread Ann Smith
Yes, that is correct. You double tap with one finger on about. This applies to
most Apple products.
Sometimes when you call Apple, they will want the serial number. You will find
it under about as well. If all you have is the serial number, you can Google it
somebody told me and it will tell you information.

Re: Fopydoc Scan stand

2017-01-29 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, what is the reading aid? I have the stand that I purchased for $25 from
Amazon. It has the adhesive strip at the top to hold your device in place as
you scan.
I would like to get into batch of scanning so I can get back into small print
books again. Not every broke out there is going to be available to you
electronically. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: The rotor

2017-01-29 Thread Ann Smith
There are some items that have to be manually added to the rotor. For instance,
if you have a braille display that's called a rotor element. You have to going
to settings and add that by double tapping.
To answer your other question, if you're in Safari browser and you're looking
to get through large amounts of information turn your rotor to headings. It
will speak how many headings are available.
There is no such thing as a stupid question. You're pretty much right on track.
For instance, if there's no buttons or form fails, your rotor will not speak
buttons or forms when you turn it. Hope this was helpful.

Re: Starting up a new email list, need help!

2017-01-17 Thread Ann Smith
Sounds like a great list. I was born with retinitis pigmentosa. I have found
three bread machines, one ice cream maker, one snowcone maker and other
machines.
That was supposed to have said owned. I would love to get more information on
how a blind person uses the QVC rotisserie 12 core air fryer. I have the two
PDF documents, but that's not the same as talking to a blind person about it.
Just talk to Tatian to finger double tap when finished I have the adapted
instructions for the air fryer, but finding more recipes that are easy for a
blind person to use is kind of tricky. Great idea. Looking forward to joining
your list.

Re: Any 2017 Apple-Related New Year Resolutions?

2017-01-15 Thread Ann Smith
I love this thread. My resolutions involve helping as many beginner and
struggling iPhone users as I possibly can. As for myself, I would like to find
somebody that's really good with helping MacBook air users, that are having a
really difficult time.
I bought my MacBook air last April, and I'm still using it is so I just took it
out of the box for the first time. I don't think I've made hardly any progress
at all.

Re: Confused about Reports of Battery Drain with iOS 10.2

2017-01-15 Thread Ann Smith
I have an iPhone 6 that is 64 GB. It will be two years old 2 April. I am not
very happy, that next week I'm gonna have to go out and get a brand-new
battery. I'm going off course ask Apple for any upgrades or replacement type
promotions. I wonder how long the new battery would last.
I mean, my very first iPhone which Rose for S, lasted me for over three years.
That I sold it on craigslist. I don't understand, why I'm having battery
problems now. Do usage of the phone has not changed between the first one and
this one at all.
Anyway, I use all the battery saving measures. I've never had any trouble at
all with this battery, and July at West 10 came along.
Sorry, that was supposed to say capital I capital oh capital S 10 came along

Re: Setting Up Apple TV 4

2017-01-14 Thread Ann Smith
I love my Apple TV. I had cited assistance, just because I couldn't see which
HDMI port to plug the device into. You also have to look at the screen for the
source. I want to know what are you using cable or something else I imagine.
I had one of those eight dollar and tennis attached to my TV, I think that's
what they mean when they're talking about the source. Do you want the Apple
device on HDMI or otherwise I'd imagine. Happy viewing is completely voiceover
friendly.

I am really enjoying the replies to this thread ha ha. Downtown mistress. In
some cases, you might have to add another contact. You might have to name that
divorce attorney. Have fun.

Or were you able to get your air pods? I know somebody that's been dying for a

Re: Seeking step by step on buying a book

2016-11-30 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, I paid $9.95 per month for Kendall unlimited. They have so many books
for the Kindle unlimited program. Mysteries, romance, every genre is covered.
And I'm thinking, you just go on the Kindle book store page to look for free
books if you're not on kindle unlimited. Kendall unlimited like most Amazon
services can offer you a 30 day free trial to see if you like it.
When I signed up in the summer of 2014, they also gave me three months of
audible service for free. Now, the nice thing about Kendall unlimited you can
have 10 bucks on your device at one time.
If you want another book, you have to going to year unlimited library and
delete one or more books than you can replace them with books that you want.
Even better, if you have Kendall unlimited if it has the Audible accompaniment
there's a real savings.
That is what whisper sink is. You buy the Kindle print version, and upgrade to
get the audible version for nominal amount of money. There are also two
newsletters that I use to get free books.

Re: A beginner using the iPhone

2016-11-30 Thread Ann Smith
Hello Daniela, I absolutely adore helping new users of Apple products.
Click the round button at the bottom three times. You should hear voiceover on.
If you're buying from a store, make sure they going to the accessibility
settings and get your speech to where it will stay on.
I have found it easiest to have the people at the store set up everything
before I left. I wish I would've done that with my first iPhone all the way
back in 2012.
Have them set up your Apple ID, your email if you're going to use that, and
show you some of the accessibility features if there's time. I would be glad to
work with you off list if you would like.
I'm very patient, and work with people step-by-step. Welcome to a brand-new
world.

Re: Seeking step by step on buying a book

When Kendall became accessible, immediately I bookmarked the page in my Safari
browser. They only book so I can be purchased through the Kindle app would be
the ones for Kendall unlimited. If you need anymore help, I'd be glad to help
you.
I also add as many books as I can to my wish list. I'm a serious reader. The
candle application always also has a link where you can sign up with good reads.
Sorry about the typos. One last thing, if you add your books or anything from
Amazon you can filter your list by prices that have dropped. Happy reading.

Re: Open Library.org with Adobe acrobat

2016-08-15 Thread Ann Smith
Well, the only device I have to read on for right now is my iPhone 6. So I
guess I can't read any of the Daisy books unless their unprotected. So, how do
I get the EPUB and other electronic books downloaded?
Somebody helped me to install Adobe Digital editions the other day. I read the
help pages, and it said that you need Adobe to be able to read the electronic
books. I have tried to find archive.org's book reader in the App Store and
can't find it.

Re: Open Library.org with Adobe acrobat

2016-08-14 Thread Ann Smith
Well, a bunch of these books are as early as 1894 and up through the 80s and
stuff. I don't know if they would still consider that protected Daisy. Says
protected days you next to it. Should I just stay out of the Daisy section, and
go through the EPUB section
Archive.org says it has some kind of a book reader, so you can read the
electronic books. I can't find it. I'm in St. Louis Missouri, so I don't think
open library is affiliated with our overdrive service year.
Quite a lot of upside like to read off of there. His books are so old, you can
get them from Kendall or other typical places for the blind.
Sorry about the typos.

Open Library.org with Adobe acrobat

2016-08-14 Thread Ann Smith

Good morning, somebody help me install Adobe editions did you do all the other
day. I am trying to use open Library.org, which is book lending service that
gives daisy as well as electronic books via archive.org.
I am in venture some raider, and looking for all kinds of ways to get free and
low-cost books.
Now, I understand you need Adobe Digital editions to read sometimes of
electronic books. I'm already to go there. However, when I check out and open

for one webpage or something like that.
Thank you and advance for any help. I went looking for their special book

Re: MacBook Air question.

2016-04-30 Thread Ann Smith
I got a steal on my MacBook air 11.6 inch from BH photo video. They are out of
New York.
The computer was I think $759 plus only $229 for the three-year AppleCare plan.
On top of that, they gave me a free gift called LoJack. Then, I got a zipped
case for my computer that was only $15.
I was going to get a laptop by Apple from MacBook or I'm sorry by mac Mall, but
they do not give straight answers when the stuff will come into stock. I
thought about going to the refurbished section on the Apple App Store
application, but they charge you upwards of almost $90 just on taxes.
I saved myself around $300, just by shopping from B capital H photo video. The
people there are very knowledgeable and you can order by phone. If you want
their information, contact me off list and I'll help you.

Re: Apple TV 4th Gen

2015-12-15 Thread Ann Smith
I have a four week old Apple TV fourth generation. It is very much worth money.
If you don't do a lot of gaming, blue 32 GB is your best bet that's what I have.
I can't give the Mac Mall I know if I praises about their customer service and
how quickly they do shipping and handling. I wore this device on November 10,
and guess what showed up the next day? They ship out of Memphis by the way.
You can order online or order by phone like I did. I'd be glad to give out the
phone number if you need it. As far as shipping and handling, they only charge
me $10.59. That's a just about unheard of for overnight shipping.
Unless you're high partial, you will need a very minimum of cited assistance.
My television is 720 P, and the device is 1080 P. So, you'll need to go into
the Apple TV settings and calibrate your
TV to your TV's correct number of pixels. It's pretty easy to do. You would
need site to be able to see the little apple and then you get the OK sign. Hope
I can help somebody sorry about the typos

Re: apple tv 4th generation thoughts

2015-12-01 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, I love my Apple TV. I bought one three weeks ago back on Veterans Day.
I have found in a lot of situations, but the control center has been plenty
helpful to me and you're operating different things.
I have QVC, NBC, Netflix, and I'm still trying to get Hulu plus to work I don't
think that's going to happen now.
PS, I also have YouTube.

Re: Can someone help with recommendations on good chat groups or programs on the iphone to meet new people??

2015-10-25 Thread Ann Smith
I'm so glad somebody started a thread like this. I love to talk to and meet new
people from all over the place. One amp I tried was called melt. It crashed out
my old iPhone, I think mostly because I had a really unstable, slow Internet
connection at that time. Might give it a try now that I'm on a more stable
carrier.

Re: Voice dream reader web browser keeps kicking me out

2015-09-30 Thread Ann Smith
I always have my app switcher and my cookies cleared out of my history. Now
someone from voice dream reader suggested turning on airplane mode going to the
browser and then turning off airplane mode.
I don't quite understand how airplane mode works. All I know about it is, but
if you want to charge your phone in a hurry, airplane mode pulls your iPhone or
your device off all satellites so your battery could charge very quickly.

Voice dream reader web browser keeps kicking me out

2015-09-29 Thread Ann Smith

Good morning, I have recently discovered that voice dream reader web browser
makes a lot of websites a lot more accessible than the Safari browser does.
Now, I'm discovering here lately that I have been getting kicked out into the
main screen every time I try to use voice streams web browser it crashes. Any
help would be great. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone

Unfortunately, I do not have a desktop or laptop computer. My iPhone is my soul

have to have a desktop or laptop to say previous updates that you could

Well, using eBay through Safari is a very clunky and jumbled up mess. I was
wondering if there might be an alternative browser that might make it a cleaner
interface such as voice dream reader maybe?

What's going on with eBay

2015-09-23 Thread Ann Smith

Sent from my iPhone good morning, the new update has pretty much run your eBay
are most useless by voiceover users.
I can be at my activity on eBay, but whenever I try to get into a category such
as books and try to use they sort or refined buttons, all I will get is all the
text and my progress bar and nothing else.
I have contacted both Apple and eBay and nobody seems like they're really
interested in trying to get in there and make me update more accessible for the
blind. Here I go and spend all this money to become an eBay seller and now this
update happens and makes the application mostly unusable.

Well, I definitely have the overdrive account for the two public libraries here
in St. Louis. What they say to be looking for all the time however, is the
Adobe additions I'm sorry Adobe Digital editions that I don't know the first
thing about that. So if there's anybody out there that can walk me through
that, I would be most appreciative. Thank you in advance.
It says on open library, that you can link the open library to your overdrive
account I don't know how to do any of that.

I need recommendations for Bluetooth printer

2015-08-24 Thread Ann Smith

Sent from my iPhone hello, I would like to become an eBay seller. Whatever
people buy your products, you would need a nice printer to be able to print
their mailing label out and stick on the side of the box or bag or whatever
using to ship the items to them. I'm looking for a printer that is not very
expensive, but is very effective. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thank you
I'm also looking for a Bluetooth postage scale from Arlease one that talks.

 Hi All,

I just got my amazon basics Bluetooth keyboard and I have a few questions for
 anyone who has this keyboard.

First, is there somewhere I can get a pdf of the user guide? I tried googling
 but came up empty.

Second, is there a keyboard help mode so I can explore the keyboard and learn
which keys do what without actually performing the functions?

Last, the keyboard will fit nicely in my handbag for transporting, but it
seems like I might want some kind cover/case to protect it while it's in
 there. Any suggestions?

 Thanks!
 Kimber

Re: question about earbuds

2015-06-20 Thread Ann Smith
As much as I love Apple products, I'm not really keen on their earbuds. My very
first iPhone, the air buds broke after eight weeks. And they wanted $30 for
those stupid earphones. Currently, I'm using the JVC marshmallow earbuds. I
bought them from eBay for only 1999 with shipping and no tax.
I've had these your buds for going on a year now. They come in all different
colors to match your phone, too. They also come with two spare cushions to put
over the ends of the earbuds. Please don't go inside of your ear canal very far
either.
Sorry about that, please don't go in your ears very far. They have a little
microphone inside of them too so you can make phone calls or do dictation. As
far as any other earbuds, I always put the flat side against the flat part of
my ear and inserted them.

Re: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-05 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, I too am having dictation problems of my own. I have a two-month-old
iPhone 6 got my running 8.3. I contacted Apple care plus the other day because
my dictation was not completing everything I dictated.
In other words, I would dictate a paragraph or two, it will drop off the last
three or four sentences. Very very frustrating :-( so, Apple wanted me to find
out how many gigahertz my cordless phone was running on. They thought that the
two machines might be interfering with each other
So, do you think the advice to the previous poster might work for my situation
as well?

 First go to settings.
 Next go to general.
 Next go to keyboard.
Next swipe to enable dictation and then double tap. This will disable
 dictation.
Then reenable dictation try that and see if that works.

I have rebooted phone by turning it off, waiting, and turning it back on

Can anyone suggest settings to check or what I should do next?
I use this feature a lot and would hate to lose it.

Re: Sirius XM app

2015-05-22 Thread Ann Smith
Hello, I sure wish music doc was still around and working as it used to be able
to. Just real quick like, I wanted to let everyone know that this company is
offering a 30 day free trial for online subscriptions.
Anyway, I mostly like to get on there to listen to the on-demand content. I
have been finding, that if you select search fill-in we could count down for
example in the search box then use your rotor gesture set to headings and flick
up or down you can get through the content very efficiently.
I have also been in contact with this company regarding the voiceover issues.
What you can do, is go under the tab that says me, then select send feedback
and it will know it's coming from your account. Just send him a brief note as I
did letting them know that voiceover is not working well with this app. I have
noticed a lot of crashing myself.

 Any thoughts or workarounds? Thanks.
