Re: Email problem Mac and iPhone

2024-08-11 Thread 'David Andrews' via VIPhone
There is probably nothing to be done, as this is controlled primarily
by your mail program.

On NFBNET.org I have to use certain settings, so large providers,
like Yahoo will accept our mail, and they are not ideally compatible
with some mail programs. The solution would be even worse though.

Re: Major problem after updating to 16

2022-09-15 Thread David Andrews

What bank -- so other people are warned?

Dave

At 07:13 AM 9/15/2022, you wrote:

Hello everyone,

I updated my iPhone 12 Mini yesterday, to IOS
16. It all went very smoothly for me, which I am
very thankful for. I haven't really ran into any problems.

Such as, the different bugs I have read about.

However, I just discovered a huge problem, and I
don't know if there is anything I can do about it.

My banking App is now not as accessible. I can
see my accounts, and what money is available.

However, when I go into an account to view the
transactions, I get a lot of different images,
and words such as coupon, and other words. None of it makes

much sense, in all honesty.

I tried turning on screen recognition to see
if this would make much of a difference. I could
then see some of the transactions. But this didn't seem

to happen consistently. Also, everything kind of seem ran together.

There are tabs at the bottom of the screen. I can still view these.

However, when I choose one, then all the buttons
are images, and words again. This was nether the case before.

What can I do, if anything?

I will definitely reach out to Apple. As well as my bank.

But might anyone have any thoughts as to how I
can possibly use the App, until it is back closer to the way it was?

This is rather frustrating. But even more, this
is an App that I most definitely need to be able
to use, with as much ease as possible.

Thank you,

Terri

Hello Shirley:

Well it’s hard to say without being on that list and looking at the messages
themselves how are you can get from one message to another.

Use your rotor and see if you can find messages if you messages is in the rotor
flip down to go up between the messages.

Not sure if that’s gonna work because I don’t know how the digest mode formats
the messages.

If there is an edit field you can do select all and copy and paste them to
Microsoft word or notes so that you can browse them easily.

I hope this helps!

I get messages from a recipe list and have decided to get them in digest mode.
How do I get say from say the second recipe in a group of seven or 8 recipes
using my phone? I tried headings but that didn't seem to work. I don't want to

Re: an Uber question

2016-10-10 Thread David Andrews
I don't know of a way in the app. I have gone to
two different addresses, for different people in
the same car. I suppose some drivers might do
this, but others wouldn't. I don't think they
make as much money waiting. you might have to just use a conventional cab.

Dave

You could also batch all your errands and hire a
driver yourself, that is what I do.

Hi guys:
I’ve only used Uber to go from point A, to
point B. My question is can you use Uber to run
several different errands at once without having
to call for multiple trips? If so, how can you
do this in the app, then find the Uber driver once you exit your stores?
As an example, I call Uber, want to go to the
grocery store, will be there only 5 min to grab
milk and bread. Then, I want to go to CVS to run
inside and pick up an RX. Then I want to call in
an order to Beef O’bradys for takeout. I’d
then have to walk inside the restaurant, pickup
food, get back in uber. Then I want to swing
through the Starbucks drive through to pickup a
large tea. Then, return home. This is an
example, but I don’t want to have to call an
Uber after each trip. For one thing, probably a
15 minute wait.. and my food will get cold!

Hi

Passing on that the MPRNews app has recently been upgraded with respect to
accessibility improvements for the blind and visually impaired.

This is a significant upgrade and seems to have make the app almost entirely
accessible and usable to my testing.

Sending this on for Minnesoata Public Radio fans who may have given up on the
app, which was pretty bad.

Re: accessible online chat service for professional use

2014-12-16 Thread David Andrews

accessible, 2013 not quite as good.

Hi Folks

tis may sound off topic but it is not because of the accessibility
question in my problem.
My employer plans to use an instant online chat service for the
citizens of our city called Digital Davy, because I am working at
the reception for our municipality council services of my own town.
We were able to implement this system with an online chat window on
our website and this was provided by a chatbot of skype and later on
provided with zopim. With skype, this is nolonger possible and last
year zopim stopped the implementation and add-on service for
programs like instantbird. With this program I could easily open the
chatbot and when citizen chats came in, I could simply reply their
questions as if I would be chatting in an online chat box of which
we all know this is quite difficult for blind people because of the
bunch of other informations and refreshings of the pages. But all
this is nolonger possible at the moment.
My simple question is: are there maybe people out there with
experience in professional online chat services and if yes, how do
you manage to be able to chat in a fast and accessible way? I could
use the IOS operating system as well as windows 7 to fulfill this
task but at this moment we cannot find anything that is accessible
to manage online chats with a chatbot or other program. The last
thing we tried was pidgin, which is fully inaccessible for
screenreaders. Maybe there are other chances with chat services that
can work together with voiceover or the latest screenreading software?

Also, I don’t have much music on my phone…61 songs, and 15 photos.

What can I do to gain more space?

Since the books are usually just over 100M, I'd assume you'd use
over 100M per book of your data
limit to download them over cellular data. If you're using wifi,
none of this should be counted
against your cellular data limit. By default the BARD app will only
download books via wifi.

The android app won't be coming out before next year, from what I
heard, problems with contractor, and with accessibility in Android.

How do you know this? If this is true then that is great news because I know
that there are a lot of blind people who have been waiting a very log time

I was a pre-beta, and beta tester and a message was sent to the beta

I did this too, and it is reversible. I don't remember if it was

worked fine.

How do I get rid of these murged contacts on my phone, did anyone have a
similar experience?

Thanks,

Re: New Book: iOS Access for All

2013-05-26 Thread David Andrews
I presume you are familiar with the www.applevis.com site -- this is
one of the best sources of the kind of information you are after.

Dave

At 02:20 PM 5/26/2013, you wrote:

Greetings, everyone,

I wanted to let you all know about a project I'm working on. I am
writing a book about iOS accessibility, called iOS Access for All,
Your Comprehensive Guide to Accessibility for iPad, iPhone, and iPod
Touch. I'm writing about all accessibility tools in iOS, including
VoiceOver, the low vision tools, Sir/voice input, guided access,
assistive touch, and features designed for hearing impaired users.
I've been writing about technology and the Mac for more than 25
years, and this will be my 13th book.

iOS Access for All focuses on teaching you how to use iOS, if you're
new, and how to get the most from it if you're not. There will also
be a chapter featuring the best third-party apps. I want to include
apps that are designed to enhance accessibility, as well as great
apps in all categories that happen to do accessibility right.

And the app chapter is why I'm writing to this group, even before
the book is published. I have reviewed hundreds of software products
over the years, but I know that everyone who uses iOS has a
different set of favorite apps. I'm looking for feedback about the
apps you love and why, and which ones you think blind folks and
other iOS users need to know about.

It's a big topic. I have started discussions of different app
categories on my site, on Facebook, and on Google Plus. Links are
below. Please follow the book on your favorite social network, and
help me kickstart the conversation there. So far, I've posted about
games and navigation apps. I plan to roll out more discussions
during the next few weeks, covering productivity, news/information,
entertainment, reading, lifestyle, and accessibility apps.

There's a link below to my FAQ about the book, but you can also
learn more about it from a couple of podcasts where I've been
interviewed. I had a great talk with JJ from
Blind Bargains and
Robert and Allison welcomed me to
The Tech Doctor podcast.

OK, here are my book links:

particularly for new users. I welcome any feedback you have, so use
