RE: Changing Voiceover help please.

2021-04-29 Thread Dominique Farrell
To delete unwanted Siri voices do the following:

1. Go to “SETTINGS and double tap on it.
2. Swipe to “GENERAL” and double tap.
3. Go to “LANGUAGE & REGION” and double tap.
4. Change your default region to another one and double tap on change to
whatever one you’ve chosen.
5. Go to “VOICEOVER & Voices” and double tap on the voice that’s
selected.
6. Swipe to the voices you wish to delete and swipe up with one finger to
delete and double tap.
7. Go back into “LANGUAGE & REGION” again and select your default region
from the list of regions and double tap on it.

This will delete all Siri voices that you don’t want.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for this, but I’ve been doing that all day trying to get rid of this
Siri 4, and I’ve shared screens with Apple, as they wanted to watch the steps I
was doing, and they said yes I was doing it the right way, but still no go. I
can’t even select Tom or Fred, and I already have them downloaded. It also
shows Samantha is selected as my default. For some odd reason, this Siri 4 is
stuck! LOL! I never had any problems changing voices before until now. The
Apple rep said he will report this to the engineers, and call me back this
coming Friday at 3:30 central time. I’m hoping he will have a fix for this, as
I can’t stand Siri 4!

Hi Janet,

Try the following:

1. Open Settings / Accessibility / VoiceOver

2. Swipe to, Speech, and do a single finger double tap to open. You should
hear something like, Voice Siri voice number button. Do a single finger
double tap to open this.

3. Swipe to, Samantha and do a single finger double tap to open. Now swipe to,
Samantha and do a single finger double tap to select, and Samantha is now your
VoiceOver voice.

Note: In this same folder you'll probably have an option for Samantha enhanced
if you want to download and try it. To get to it just swipe passed the first
Samantha option.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.

Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my XR 10 phone to iOS 14.5, and I also changed Voiceover
voice from Samantha to Siri 4, I don't like the Siri 4, and I want to change
back to Samantha, but can't find any way to do this. I did go back in to the
speech settings, and I set Samantha back as the default, but Siri 4 is still
speaking. Can someone please tell me how I might change back to Samantha from
Siri 4.

Thank you all in advance.

Re: Interesting discovery with Voiceover, and the Alex voice

2021-04-29 Thread Dominique Farrell
I use Arthur the male Irish Siri voice on my iPhone SE 2020 & Apple Watch
series 5. He is very clear and pronounces everything fine, he is the clearest
out of them all. Are use this voice because I reside in Ireland. This is the
voice that I always wanted on my Apple Watch and I was delighted when it became

Hi Dominique,

Your email address is now displayed correctly so if somebody wanted to write
you directly they can just copy the address from the “From” field. When I first
sent you a message I did this and that is when I realized gmail was spelled
with two G’s, the message I sent came back as undeliverable and at that point I
checked your address character by character and noticed the two G’s. Not a big
deal if people reply to you on the list, but of course it’s better now that you
were able to fix it.

RE: changing topic how to stop harassment

2016-11-17 Thread Dominique Farrell
I subscribed to this list recently, and was under the impression that it was
for discussing iPhone related topics, and that's what I wanted to join an
iPhone list for, but this thread has absolutely nothing at all to do with
iPhones and should be discontinued as members are slandering and being abusive
to others, and other members, like me, don't need this, and because of this, I
am really considering unsubscribing from this list. I wanted to join a happy
list to discuss all things iPhone related, but sadly, this list is not
fulfilling this for me at the moment.

I e-mailed Cara last night and have heard nothing at all from her.

hoping that the rest of this list might stand up with me and ask for this to

personal attacks, delete is wonderful for that, but when he does this

RE: Texting from iDevice to Android

2016-11-16 Thread Dominique Farrell
I know that the SMS option on an iPhone is in Settings, Messages & swipe to
Send as SMS, the default for this is "off", so double tap on it and it will be
"on". The first option in this menu is "iMessage", "Read Receipts" is the
next, followed by "Send as SMS". This should be the same layout for all Apple
devices.

Hope this helps.

Subject: automatic updates question

Hello Listers,

I just recently got my iPhone SE. There is a section in settings called iTunes
andAp stor. Under automatic downloads, I turned off Aps and updates. If I
understand correctly, this will prompt me to download any updates for any Aps
that I am currently using? In other words it will ask me if I want to download
the updates instead of just installing them on its own?

thanks

Michael

What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax
Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of
the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace - -
the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living -- the kind that
enables man and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for
their children - - not merely peace for Americans by peace for all men and
women - - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time."
