We have a Honeywell thermostat that uses the Total Connect Comfort (tcc) app 
which is completely accessible.
The physical thermostat isn't something I would want to deal with on my own, 
but one could mark it to adjust up or down.
So, the real question for me is, is the app they use accessible.

Yes, you are absolutely correct; I can definitely confirm this behavior.  It is 
maddening.  I did not experience this bug until I updated to the latest version 
of iOS.

Strangely enough, as I have not updated to the latest version of Watch OS, I 
can continue to dial the telephone numbers, in question, via Siri on my Apple 
watch.

I'm running iOS15.5 on an SE2020 iPhone.  For the last several months I was 
unable to tell my phone to call any phone number in my contacts that began with 
the, number / pound, sign.
 
For example, when I want to forward my calls to the house I would tell Siri to  
call, Forward Arcadia.  This number in my contacts is;
*72 555-444-
and the phone calls would be forwarded.
 
When I wanted to disable call forwarding I would tell Siri to call Stop Forward 
and this number in my contacts is; *73
 
Well, I checked today and Siri is now calling numbers with the * phone numbers. 
 I recall several others on this group an other groups that had the same 
problem, so y'all that use this type of calling can check to see if your phones 
will do this now as well.

I just went to   T Mobile, left AT and T and getting my unlimited plan for 
everything for 35 dollars. The customer service has been very good, and had no 
problem with dropped called, can not tell any difference between the two 
services.

have top-notch customer service for both ends.

Recently got Script Talk to read prescription meds.  However, I needed to call 
pharmasist to give a special label in order to work.
I have iPhone 12 Pro with latest I O S  with following apps:
digit-eyes, TapTapSee, Seeing A I, Voice Dream Reader, OneStep Reader, Be My 
Eyes, EasyReader, and SoloLearn.
I have several bottles of vitamins and don't know how to get the labels to 
read.  Any ideas?
Voice Over only announces green and white label.

Yes it is true, you should go into a store, and ask them to go over your plan, 
I can't have Spectrum, and had trouble with Verizon, and AT, and T, so thought 
I would try out T Mobile, so far, so good, it is there cheapest plan for 
unlimited, but it works great for me.

opted to just go to the store and grab my Sim cards instead of having them

have top-notch customer service for both ends.

You are correct, you get the faster speed for so much, then it does slow down

Hi.

The term unlimited can be misleading. What I've found that the data is 
unlimited, but the speed you get it is throttled back if you go above a certain 
amount. I think Strait Talk gives you full speed up to 25 gigs of data, then 
they cut back the bandwidth a lot. I have what Spectrum calls unlimited data, 
and it does have a maximum amount.

This is a labeler, that you put a label on your pills , and you have a pen, 
that you touch  on it, and it reads outloud whatever you have put on that 
label. .

Recently got Script Talk to read prescription meds.  However, I needed to call 
pharmasist to give a special label in order to work.
I have iPhone 12 Pro with latest I O S  with following apps:
digit-eyes, TapTapSee, Seeing A I, Voice Dream Reader, OneStep Reader, Be My 
Eyes, EasyReader, and SoloLearn.
I have several bottles of vitamins and don't know how to get the labels to 
read.  Any ideas?
Voice Over only announces green and white label.

We have two lines on the plan, and so it is 70 for the both of them, it is not 
70  dollars unless you do the wireless billing. You may have to go into the

Yes it is true, you should go into a store, and ask them to go over your plan, 
I can't have Spectrum, and had trouble with Verizon, and AT, and T, so thought

I just went to   T Mobile, left AT and T and getting my unlimited plan for 
everything for 35 dollars. The customer service has been very good, and had no

Hi Carolyn, that's the way I did this last one. The lady over the phone offered 
to do everything for me. But since I only lived 3 miles away from the store I 
opted to just go to the store and grab my Sim cards instead of having them

Not sure when you buy one, if it will still be Honeywell Home, they did change 
there name, just recently. And you will learn, it is really nice on Alexa, like 
when I go to bed, just say Alexa set thermostat to  whatever temp you ask

Thank you so much Kenny for sharing.  I too have a Honeywell thermostat, and 
have found the Total Connect Comfort app extremely accessible to operate the 
thermostat.  I never thought that Alexa might connect to it, but after your 
message, I did some research and am now connected.  😊 There is a need for both 
the app and Alexa.  Ther is way easier if you just want to make a quick change 
in programming.  FYI, the model of my thermostat is Focus Pro TH6320WF.

Does your client realize that some of the features: Document, Scene, 
Handwriting, in the Seeing AI app require a photo to be taken? For me, using an 
iPhone 11, the currency & product features do not work at all. The color 
feature is 100% inaccurate. My app is up to date & so is my IOS. I only use the 
Short Text feature in the  Seeing AI app. I recommend VoiceDream Scanner for 
reading documents & CamFind or TapTap See for colors. EyeNote does great in 
identifying US dollars. The Short Text feature of the Seeing AI app can read 
product labels, but it takes some practice when it comes to reading labels on 
cans. There are two similar apps to Seeing AI, Supersense & Envision AI. Both 
of these apps to get full functionality have a monthly subscription. I 
typically don't recommend apps that have a monthly subscription. I prefer to 
pay for an app & pay for an upgrade or new feature that has been added through 
an In App purchase. Not everyone likes to use multiple apps when there are 
options in which one app can do all that is needed. I don't think that a new 
iPhone will solve your clients problem with the Seeing AI app. Hopefully, one 
of the above suggestions will help your client.

I have a Bosch washer and dryer that is mostly controlled by a touch panel, 
however, I use it via an app on my iPhone. It works pretty well. The only 
drawback might be that Bosch only sells apartment size washers and dryers. So 
if you are looking for a full size, Bosch won’t work for you.

I have a GE stove with a flat top for the burners and touch pad for controlling 
the oven. I have labeled the oven in braille, but the stove has the capability 
of working through an app on my iPhone. I just haven’t done the last steps to 
set that up.

By the way, in case it comes up for you when looking for appliances, if it says 
“ADA Compliant” that doesn’t mean it is necessarily accessible to the blind. It 
mostly means that the controls of the stove are on the front, and reachable 
from a wheelchair.

I have an IPhone 8 & am current on IOS.  My volume is fine & easily adjusted 
except for the text notification sound.  At times it will be fine then it will 
suddenly be quite soft such that I don’t notice when I get a text.  Everything 
else has the volume I want.  I even turned the volume up louder than I want 
thinking it would fix the text notification sound but no luck.  I have looked 
through settings & found no way to just adjust the text notification sound.  I 
looked at choosing some different sounds for this notification but none of them 
are as loud as I’d like.  I have not found a pattern in what seems to cause the 
notification sound to go down in volume as much of the time it is fine.

Any ideas on how I can increase the text notification sound?

I have a question about a setting on my phone, after I get a text, and I will 
ask Siri  to read my last message, Siri will ask me if I want to  reply   , and 
then it is supposed to say, what would you like  to say, and it does not say 
that. When I was having so much trouble with my phone last week, some how I 
turned it off somewhere. Appreciate any help.

Glad what I posted worked. I first tried the settings path you posted under 
Voiceover but I was unable to figure out how to delete any of the voices that 
way. About all I was able to do was to select the default voice used when 
rotoring to another language.

If you get it through your carrier, I wonder if what you have is actually an 
insurance plan from them, rather than Apple Care. If that's the case, it won't

My 15 Prosome times stops speaking when Siri is reading a text, just wondering 
what carrier do you have? I had a 13, and it did the same thing, that is part 
of the reason I bought the 15 Pro. Oh, I have T mobile.

If anyone has a solution to what I describe below, I will appreciate your help.

This evening VoiceOver stopped speaking on my iPhone 15 Pro.

  *   I hear the VoiceOver clicks and other sounds when I swipe up to activate 
the phone, but no speech.
  *   I hear the VoiceOver clicks and other sounds when I swipe left and right, 
but no speech.
  *   I’ve turned the volume up high; the VoiceOver sounds get louder, but no 
speech.
  *   A three finger double tap does not bring up speech as it should.
  *   I have attempted to use the voice command, “Siri, turn speech on,” or  
“Siri, turn speech off.” Neither will voice.
  *   I have checked for Bluetooth devices that might be connected, but all are 
turned off. Also, if this were a Bluetooth conflict, I don’t think I would be 
hearing the VoiceOver sounds.

I had the same problem on an iPhone 14 and have a friend who is experiencing 
the issue on an iPhone 13 mini.  I spoke to Apple Accessibility and they had me 
turn off Siri and then turn it back on.  When you turn it back on, it asks you 
to speak 5 phrases to train Siri on your voice.

It improved how Siri functioned, but the problem did not completely go away.  
Give this a try and let us know how you make out.

It is not a second door bell, it replaces the button for first door bell, and 
hooks to wires from your little button, that is what keeps it charged.

What I need is a motion detector. I don't need another doorbell.

Currently I have the logenex intercom, teledoorBell. The intercom box on the 
outside has a door bell button. Inside, the home phones ring (with a distinct 
pattern). Cordless phones can be moved around easily for convenience.

Someone mentioned that the Ring doorbell pro has a motion detector.

Having two door bell buttons would be confusing to door visitors.



Is there an iPhone app for a motion detector?

This would warn me when there is a delivery: package, groceries etc.

When asking about accessible doorbells, what do you mean by accessible? How 
accessible would you like it to be?
I also use the Ring doorbell and I have it integrated with everybody’s  iPhone 
who lives in the house plus our Echo devices. Any time anyone nears our house 
porch we receive announcements that it detected motion. If someone rings the 
doorbell we have the option to either pick it up via the Ring app on our 
iPhones or the Alexa by simply asking Alexa to answer doorbell. For those who 
can see can activate the camera on their phones and see who is at the door. 
Unfortunately, it doesn’t identify the person for me yet. I’m hoping that’s 
near in the future with the advancement of AI. But for now I love it since we 
are notified any time we have a package dropped off and if anyone is home then 
we can immediately retrieve it.
I’m not sure how it integrates with the Google Home, but with the Echo devices 
you can download, what they call a Skill with the Alexa app and as long as you 
have a Ring account establish then you can sign into the Ring Skill and 
integrate it with your Echo. It’s pretty awesome!

Thanks for that and I should have thought to check Applevis. Anyways, let's see 
what Chef IQ has to say, 3 years can be a long time and if it was discussed on 
Applevis I hope somebody contacted them to recommend accessibility improvments.

Honestly, no. Someone on the Blind subreddit did suggest it as an accessible 
option with VoiceOver  though so I pulled the trigger on one when it  went on 
sale as a lightning deal, but by the time I got it, I’d already received the 
reply from Meater about it’s limitations for what I wanted to use it for.
I’m currently using a Weber leave-in probe with a stainless steel stovetop 
popcorn maker which works well enough. The nice thing about the Weber app is 
that when you leave VO focus on the temperature readout, VO speaks the 
temperature change in realtime.
I’d be curious to know what the Chef IQ folks say if they get back to you.

create a new contact further down the screen. Tap that and you should then see

Also, is there an incoming call log somewhere on the phone and if so, how would 
I access it?

There is no Incoming Calls list per se, only a Recents tab, which includes all 
Recent calls and and Missed calls.

Yes, you could start your membership any time of the year. You could pay 
annually or monthly. I prefer to pay annually.

Also, if you’re getting food that has to be in the fridge/freezer it is best 
you’re at home. I always sign my orders when they’re delivered From the store. 
No, you do not have to tip the driver when you’re checking out on the app. It 
always thinks you should leave a tip on there but I go to where it says zero 
dollar tip and then it takes the tip off if possible, you should order at least 
$35 worth of stuff, that way you won’t get charged the $6.99 however the other 
day for example all I needed was some bread so the person gave me a five dollar 
promo code so the fee was taken off referring to the delivery fee being below 
order minimum.  Hope this helped. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to 
email me. The other day I did send the customer service phone number to the 
list so if you guys needed it, you would have it.

I need to contact Walmart because they forgot to offer me that $50 coupon the 
last time I renewed my Plus membership.😞 They do offer several other rewards 
with the program as you stated so it does work out very well for me.

I am sure there are a number of details which weren’t covered in the keynote, 
but simply based on what was said there definitely seems to be less of a reason 
for a blind person to buy an iPhone Pro or Pro Max as opposed to the regular 
iPhone 16 or 16 Plus. One thing I am curious about is whether LiDAR has made it 
to the regular iPhone 16 yet or if that is still a 16 Pro/Pro Max only feature, 
but many of the other differences with pictures and videos is possibly not as 
bog of a deal for a blind/visually impaired user and both phones now have the 
action and capture buttons. Seems like for a few years Apple really pushed the 
Pro phones with the next genration chip whereas the regular phones kept the 
previous year’s chip, this year the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus also have the new A18 
chip and while the Pro models have an A18 Pro chip which is even faster, I 
wonder  if that is really worth the extra money.
