I respectfully disagree. There is a big difference on Winston’s asking us to pay 14 or $25. Then there is to these people asking us to pay 60 a year. If it were Winston charging me this money and I knew he would be receptive to my issues and suggestions I would not have so much of a problem paying although I think the amount they’re asking is ridiculous.However, my app is currently not working, I have tried everything, and no matter what I do all of a sudden during this last week I can no longer get any book share books to download. I have emailed them and have not gotten any response. This issue has occurred repeatedly over the last month, and they have not responded to my emails. The problem will Periodically go away and the App will  work fine and then it will occur again.I have gotten more help from the members of this list trying to figure out this problem, then I have gotten from the owners of this company. They have not once gotten back to me on any of my emails. You need to get your facts straight.
The Applause Group bought Voice Dream LLC in April of 2023.  Applause Group never said you would never have to pay.  They said you didn’t have to pay right away.
Jonathan’s take is pretty clear, this is a good business decision. 

But, you are spreading false information.
Boycott it if you want and use something else, but do not give wrong information.
 
Could they have handled it differently, probably so.
 

And as I have said, more than once, Winston was going to have to do the exact same thing.

I agree with you completely Dennis. This is why I feel the way I do about the subscription. This company does not engage with us as a community at all and all they want is money. I think speechify has a lot of potential, but they need to make the interface 
simple in the wave voice stream reader is. They also really need to add 
alternative voices, the problem with many of these services is they mainly use 
the iOS voices that are already built in and that gets really old after a 
while. It’s good to have the high-quality voices available. I do sometimes use 
a service, called Capti, but to get access to things like books share I believe 
you have to have a premium subscription.

That’s true, however, Winston was very much engaged with the blind community and talked to us about what worked for us and what did not. These people are not engaged with us at all.Subscription models are becoming way over the top, and these businesses are engaging in them due to greed nothing more. Although I love Voice Dream, I think this is an outrage and simply greed on the developers part. Yes, I know developers need to eat, but I think they are just jumping on this subscription bandwagon that everyone has been doing these days which I feel is a very greedy way to do business. Those of us who purchased it already should not have to purchase it again in my opinion. We need to stand together and make our voices hurt, everyone should send them an email and express their opinion, I have done so, who is with me and will email them? You also don’t have to pay for these voices either. You did have to pay around $5 per voice before. So please stop complaining and pay the $60 per year if you can. Hi, over the last week or so I have been noticing that every time I try to add 
a title to my book share library through Voice Dream Reeder I keep getting a 
continuous message that says “waiting“. I have closed down the app and reopened 
it again and still those books all just seem to be stuck there and it keeps 
saying waiting and they will not download. Any suggestions? Is anyone else

Hi all. I would like to be able to use my voice stream scanner app, however, 
when I try to update it in the App Store, it simply updates, my voice stream 
reader app. When I try to open my Scanner app on my phone, it just does not 
open. Have they removed this app and any and all support for it? I bought these 
apps back when Winston was in charge of all of them, so do not have the 
subscription version. Are they now being awful, and requiring us to pay a

purchase any updated versions of voices or any new voices? It is a much more 
difficult app to use I think than when Winston was running it. Any help or 
suggestions would be appreciated. I have some documents I need to scan so would 
like to be able to continue to use the app.

Having trouble downloading, premium voices to my new SE.

Hi, I am having trouble downloading the Australian and US premium voices to my 
new iPhone SE. I have reset my network settings and done a hard reset on the 
phone as well as various other things. I have an Apple accessibility support 
person helping me, has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts would be 
appreciated.

Can’t get premium and enhanced voices to download on my new SE 2022.

Hi all, I just purchased an iPhone SE 2022. No matter what I try I cannot get 
the Karen premium or Nathan enhanced voice is to download. I am working with 
Apple accessibility, and we have tried hard, resetting the phone, resetting my 
networks, checking for storage space on the phone and the cloud, and a number  
of other things in settings. Nothing has worked, has anyone had this problem or 
has any ideas or thoughts about this? Thanks.

Can’t get premium and enhanced voices to download on my new SE 2022.

Hello all, I just purchased a new SE 2022 to weeks ago. No matter what I try I 
cannot get the Karen premium or enhanced or the Nathan enhanced voices to 
download to this phone. I have done a hard reset on the phone, reset my 
network, make sure there is plenty of space on the phone and an iCloud, and 
another couple of things as well. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have not heard 
of anyone else having this problem. I am working with Apple accessibility, and 
we are trying some different things, but nothing has worked. Just wondering if 
anyone had any thoughts.

It is just another way to read books. It means that more books will be available for more people. I have read books with text to speech for years and the voices they have now, particularly with apps, such as voice dream, are so good after a while you don’t even notice it. At least I don’t. I remember when I was in college my father bought me the Kurzweil reading machine, and it was a TTS voice, however, I was just so happy to be able to go out and buy any print book that I came to really like The Voice. It is what it is. Having problems with voice dream reader using an iPhone 8 plus with voiceover.

Hi all. Yesterday I updated to the latest version of voice dream reader, now 
when I open the app it keeps saying that I need to sync my library with iCloud 
but iCloud is not available. I have gone into my iCloud settings and iCloud is 
turned on I have plenty of storage in my iCloud Drive is enabled. However, 
voice stream does not seem to recognize that my iCloud is on and when I open 
the app and try to click on any of my books from book share it just says not 
available syncing with cloud. Does anyone have any suggestions? I desperately 
need to access my Voice Dream content as I am studying for a couple of tests 
and my material is located on my Voice Dream library.

Hello, I have this app and it is great and so is the voice dream reader. I have 
a question that I was wondering if anyone had the answer to though. When I am 
in the app and I have Scan anywhere between 5 to 10 pages the app keeps 
crashing and kicking me out of the app. I have uninstalled it closed and opened 
it and then all the usual things to help with this type of issue. Does anybody 
else have this issue or have any suggestions?

Alex is my favorite I was so excited when we had him added to the mix into 
thousand 14. I also like the US Siri mail and the new were female Siri voice. I 
like the new south African Siri voices as well. However Alex is my all-time 
favorite.

Hi. Does anyone know if you can buy and AirPod charger case without having to 
pay for the actual earpieces? My earpieces are fine but my charging case broke 
and I went to Apple today and they are claiming that you can't buy cases and I 
thought you could. If anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it.

For me Alex will always be my number one man. I remember in 2014 how excited I 
was that we had more choices than just Samantha for the American voices.

However I really enjoyed all of the enhanced voices that have been added in the 
last year or so. My particular favorites in no particular order are Oliver, 
Kate, Serena, Lee, Karen, Arthur, and American Siri mail. However although I 
love these new voices I wish they would open it up and let us add other text to 
speech engines such as the a cappella voices.

This is just my opinion of course but I've have found that it is absolutely 
worth it. It is much easier for me to navigate with the larger screen and the 
option to have a keyboard is great. I spent the extra money and got the 
keyboard and I love it. As for the sound quality I can't be beat if you ask me. 
It sounds even better than the 6+ that I have. I don't know about the seven but 
I think it sounds even better than that because it has four speakers. Also I 
have hardly ever use my desktop computer since purchasing this last year. It is 
a great piece of Technology.
