Please write wins...@voicedream.com <mailto:wins...@voicedream.com> and

I don’t know what kind of fee he may have to pay to make that happen, but it
would make it much easier that way.

Subject: Voice Dream Reader and OneDrive

Hello All,

Is there a way to add OneDrive as an option within Voice Dream Reader? I notice
that when the “Add” button is activated, followed by the “More” button to see a
list of services, while Drop Box and Google Drive, among others, are
available, OneDrive is not in this list. In order to access my One Drive
folder, I must activate the “File Browser” button and locate OneDrive which is
considerably more cumbersome. I had hoped that once I accessed files on
OneDrive, OneDrive would be placed in the “Add” list along with Drop Box and
Google Drive. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

RE: Clock App Recommendation

2017-02-02 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi David,

Thanks for the recommendation. While not QOO, it’s not too far off.
Interesting, my QOO app is still functioning normally, but I have set to speak
the time every 15 minutes between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday, so the 12 hour limitation has never been a real issue. . The Voiceover
Clock app is very simple to configure and has the desirable ability to speak
the time interval instead of only providing a chime. And while it is true that
there is a limit to the number of time intervals per day, despite choosing 15
minute intervals, this is not a particular issue for the individual to whom
this app is being recommended.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi,

I can definitely attest to your observation that Qoo is no longer available
in the app store. I tried it a few years ago but found I had to restart the app
as it stopped speaking after 12 hours. I had mine announcing the time every 15
minutes.

I am now using Voiceover Clock, which is a free download. It’s very easy to
use and set up.

  Hope this helps.

RE: Smart thermostats

2016-11-26 Thread Mauricio Molina
The Sensi is also accessible. I chose this device because it is, supposedly,
accessible with the Amazon Echo, but I have not yet gotten this part completely
figured out. The company will provide phone tech support but I have not had the
time to call. Using the app, I am able to control temperature settings and
switch from air con to heat; my needs are fairly basic although the Sensi has
several desirable features.

VoiceOver and/or Amazon Echo Accessible Wi-Fi Thermostat

2016-09-02 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

I realize that the discussion of accessible thermostats has been discussed in
the past, but I would like to bring this topic up again. Is anyone on this list
using an accessible Wi-Fi thermostat that they would recommend? I am aware that
Honeywell and Nest make Wi-Fi thermostats, though I am not sure if their iPhone
apps are accessible. Also, at least for me, the best case scenario is a Wi-Fi
thermostat that has a VoiceOver accessible app and can also be used by the
Amazon Echo. With this said, app accessibility is the priority.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Audio Books and Voice Dream Reader

Have you waited long enough for the Drop Box upload process to complete?
Perhaps this is unique to my system, but when I placed a zipped audio book into
Drop Box, it may take an hour or more before the upload process is complete and
the book becomes visible when I use VoiceDreamReader.

Hello everyone!

I am having trouble getting audio books to show up in VDR, can someone please
help me?

What I did was to take an mp3 audio book file, and split it. I used MP3
splitter/joiner and split it into 5 minute increments. I then took the split
files, and zipped them into a zip archive. I finally copied this to my dropbox
folder, and opened VDR. I went to "Add", and clicked on dropbox. All that
shows up are the few ePub and PDF files I have in there. What am I missing? I
figure there is some special process that makes the zipped archive appear to be
an audio book, is that it? I have even tried making .m4b files and putting
them in dropbox, and that doesn't work either!

All help is appreciated!

Request for Blue Tooth Recommendations

2016-05-16 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

I know that this topic has been discussed before, but since I was not in the
market, I admit I did not pay the utmost attention. Of course what I am
wanting to know is which blue tooth ear pieces are recommended with use with
an iPhone? I've heard much banter back and forth about the Plantronics
Legend and Edge; are these good choices? Back when I had an older iPhone, it
may have been the 3GS, I could not tolerate the latency when using a blue
tooth device so abandoned this option. I am now reconsidering the blue tooth
option and would like to know which are preferred.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Latest Version of Dream Reader and Adding Files from Drop Box

2016-04-09 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi Sieghard and Richard,

Here is some additional background in case it helps:

I have been using the Dream Reader and Drop Box combination for easily over a
year without issue and I have always preferred to zip folders with multiple mp3
files.

I use the Windows 10 Send to/Compressed (Zipped) Folder option in the
application key context menu to zip folders; this has always worked in the
past.

I only have one Drop Box account so it is not possible that I am using the
incorrect Drop Box account.

When I use my PC to add zipped items into the Drop Box desktop application, the
items are visible on the two PCs on which I have Drop Box installed but are not
visible in the Drop Box on my iPhone. If the zipped folder is not visible in
the Drop Box app, it would make sense that it would also not be visible in the
Dream Reader app.

Folders that are not compressed and individual/single mp3 files are visible in
the Drop Box and Dream Reader app.

I experimented by zipping a selection of files instead of a folder, thinking
that the number of folder levels may have something to do with the issue being
experienced, but this did not help.

At this point I am going to pursue this problem as a Drop Box issue.

Hi Mauricio,

I just zipped a folder containing a bunch of audio book files in the iTunes
format and copied it into the Voice Dream folder in Dropbox. I still had a file
in that folder with last September’s Apple Event which was in MP3 format, so
just two files in the folder, the MP3 file and the zipped folder. I then opened
Dropbox on my iPhone, tapped on the Files tab at the bottom and then I double
tapped on the Voice Dream folder and both files were there including the zipped
folder.

I then downloaded Voice Dream to my 6S Plus since I never had it on that phone.
I went to the Settings and enabled Dropbox, then tapped on Add at the top
right, selected Dropbox and first I was asked to allow access to Dropbox from
Voice Dream which I did, once I was in Dropbox I selected the Voice Dream
folder and again both files showed up with a Download button next to each. I
tapped download next to the zipped file which was about 98 Mb and after about
20 seconds the file was there in my Voice Dream library and I was able to start
playing it.

I am not sure what is wrong with your zipped files, how to you zip them? Do you
a third-party application or just the built-in function Windows 7 and also 10
has?

Also, if you check the properties of one of your zipped folders by right
clicking on it and selecting properties (or you can use the Alt+Enter shortcut
for Properties in Windows Explorer) what is the extension of your zipped
file/folder?

Regards,

Sieghard

The issue is that when accessing the Drop Box folder from within Dream Reader,
Dream Reader does not see any of my zipped folders; it does, however, see
folders not zipped. What I just learned while writing this message is that I
cannot see the zipped folders using the Drop Box app either. The zipped folders

VoiceDream and Google Drive

2015-08-31 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

I am aware that VoiceDream can access books from within Drop Box, but can it
also access books from within Google Drive? I recently installed the Google
Drive app on my iPhone, placed a zipped folder into the main Google Drive
folder using my computer, but when I open the Google Drive app on my iPhone,
the zipped folder cannot be seen. I have placed other items into the Google
Drive folder and they are visible. I also waited a very considerable amount of
time to allow the zipped folder to upload to Google Drive but still nothing.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mauricio

RE: Dictation Function Not Working

2015-06-08 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi Terry,

You have provided an excellent description of what I and other iPhone users are
experiencing in my area. I was not sure if this was an APPLE/iPhone problem or
a problem with my carrier. Quite often when using dictation as you described my
message is incomplete. I typically have to wait until the send button is no
longer dimmed and pick up where dictation left off. This has been a problem for
several weeks.

I have had difficulty with dictation as well over the past few weeks. However,
just to be clear, I am not dictating to Siri, but instead am using the
dictate button, wlocated to the left of the space bar. I prefer this
dictation feature when in text editing for emails, texting and other apps that
require written text. To solve this problem when my dictation is either
prematurely ended, or I am able to complete it, but Voice Over does not
automatically read it back to me, I move my finger around the middle of the
screen until I find the dictated text and then swipe once to the left and then
back to the right, so that Voice Over will read what I have written. I then
double tap the screen with one finger to put the cursor at the top of the text.
If I am satisfied with what has been written, I then swipe once to the right
to the send button. However, there have been times when this button has been
dimmed, so that I could not yet send the text. When this happens, I simply
wait a few seconds and try to send it again, at which time I am usually
successful in doing so. Terry

iCloud Password Repeatedly Requested

2015-04-15 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

Since updating to iOS 8.3, I have repeatedly been asked to provide my iCloud
password. I in fact do not have an actual iCloud email account, preferring
instead to use my Gmail account which I have always done, so it should have
no bearing on this issue. Has anyone else been prompted multiple times to
provide their iCloud password, and if so, have you been able to stop this
from reoccurring? I have gone to setting/iCloud/my account and have typed my
password but continue to get prompted to repeat this process from time to
time.

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Hearing Aids and iPhone 6+

2015-02-07 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi All,

I am attempting to assist an individual who has a profound hearing
impairment as well as a visual impairment. Even with hearing aids, I must
speak rather loudly to be heard by this individual. This individual is in
their mid-eighties, on a limited income, and does not read Braille. I
suspect they currently have low-end hearing aids but am not certain. And
while I have written to and received suggestions from
accessibil...@apple.com, I wondered if anyone on this list with a hearing
impairment has any suggestions. I would especially like to receive
information from anyone who is actually using their recommended solution or
knows of someone who is. If high-end hearing aids are recommended, such as
those suggested by the Apple folks, I would appreciate which model hearing
aid and the cost of acquiring the recommended aids.

For all who can assist, I thank you in advance.

RE: Bluetooth keyboard commands

2014-12-14 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi Alex,

The below information was gleaned from a couple of different sources. I would
love to have been able to give those sources credit but suffice it to say, I am
grateful to have received this information. Make sure you read all the way to
the tables at the bottom.

Mauricio

Navigating using the Apple Bluetooth keyboard

Keys on the bottom row of the Apple Bluetooth keyboard going from left to right
are:

The first key on the left side on the Apple keyboard is the FN key. This key is
not used for the iPhone.

To the right of the FN key is Control key.

To the right of the Control key is the Option key.

To the right of Option is the Command key.

To the right of Command is the Space Bar.

To the right of the Space Bar is another Command key.

To the right of the Command key is the Option key.

To the right of the Option key are the Arrow keys.

The alphabet and the numbers are laid out the same as on a PC keyboard.

When you want to move around the screen using the Bluetooth keyboard, you can
either hold down the Control and Option keys and use the Left and Right Arrow
keys or turn on Quick Nav and use the Left and Right Arrow keys by themselves.
Unless you are editing something, it is recommended that Quick Nav be turned
on. To turn on Quick Nav, hit the Left and Right Arrow keys at the same time.
VoiceOver should say “Quick Nav on.” Unless specifically specified, these
instructions will be for navigating the iPhone with Quick Nav turned on.

To move across the screen, use the Left or Right Arrow keys to
move around the screen.

To double-tap on something, hit the Up and Down Arrow keys at the same time.

If you are on the Home screen, you can Hold down the Option key and tap Left or
Right Arrow keys to move through the different pages of apps. You can Hold down
the Option key and tap the Up and Down Arrow keys to scroll up or down a page.

If you are reading a document such as a note or a web page, you will want to be
able to move around different parts of the document. You can do this using the
rotor. To do this, first tap the Left and Up Arrow keys at the same time until
you hear how much you want to navigate by. Then you use the Up or Down Arrow
keys to move by that amount. For example, if you are reading a web page, you
might want to move around the page by heading. For an example, we will open
Apple’s web site. Do the following if you have not made any changes to Safari:

1. Double-tap on Safari. Safari is the app for browsing the web on the iPhone.
If you have not used Safari before, Apple’s web site will open.

2. Keep hitting both the Left Arrow and Up Arrow at the same time until you
hear “headings.”

3. Hit the Up and Down Arrow keys to move through the different headings on the
page.

4. Hit Left or Right Arrow to read the information under the heading.

You can edit information with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard. To
do this, first turn off Quick Nav by hitting the Left and Right Arrow keys at
the same time until VoiceOver says “Quick Nav off.” Then you would hold down
the Control and Option keys and tap the Left or Right Arrow keys to navigate
around the screen. When you find something you want to open or edit, you hold
down the Control and Option keys and hit the Space Bar. Then you would type in
the information. If there is more than one edit box, you could hit Tab or
Shift+Tab to move through the different edit boxes. For an example, we will add
a contact with the Apple keyboard. Do the following:

1. Open the Phone app.

2. Open the Contacts tab.

3. Double-tap or hit Control+Option+Space Bar when you are on Add.

4. Double-tap or hit Control+Option+Space Bar when you are on “first.” Type
somebody’s first name.

5. Hit Tab to go through all of the edit boxes.

6. When you are done activate “Done” by double-tapping on “Done” or hitting
Control+Option+Space Bar when you are on it.

7. It is recommended that Quick Nav be turned back on.

8. Hit the Home button or hit Control+Option+h on the keyboard to get back to
the Home screen.

The below is from a different source:

Before going into the various keyboard commands, there are a few things that
need mentioning. First, for Windows users, there are a couple noteworthy
differences between a traditional PC keyboard and an Apple keyboard. Instead
of the control, Windows, and alt modifiers, Apple devices use control, command,
and option. Control maps to control, Windos maps to option, and alt maps to
command.

Second, in the list of keyboard commands below, you will see references to a
“VO” modifier. In the world of Apple, the “VO” (or VoiceOver) key is control +
option. That is, if the keystroke says, for example, “VO + down arrow”, you
perform this keystroke by holding down control and option, then pressing the
down arrow.

Third, when listing keys, what is being used is both a + (plus) and *
(asterisk)

Regarding Outlook Crashing and JAWS 15

2014-10-26 Thread Mauricio Molina
I too experienced Outlook crashing when opening the original message
containing iOS 8.1 in the subject field. And not only did Outlook Crash to
the point I had to turn off my computer by tapping the power button, but
when restarting my computer, my JAWS was no longer authorized and I had to
go through the authorization process again.
